Basic Operation

Turn Unit ON/OFF

Press the power key to turn the unit ON. To turn the unit OFF, press and hold the power key or select 'Power Off' from the System Controls dialog.

System Controls Dialog

Pressing the power key once accesses the System Controls dialog, allowing you to:

  • Power the unit ON/OFF
  • Adjust Brightness
  • Turn Night Mode ON/OFF
  • Stop/start sonar

System Settings

Access system settings via the 'System' option in the sonar and flasher menus. Available settings include:

  • Language: Configure the device language.
  • Units: Set measurement units for various data types.
  • Simulate: Run a demonstration of unit features without a sensor connection.
  • Restore Defaults: Reset the unit to factory settings (irreversible).
  • About: View copyright, software version, and technical information.

Display Illumination

Brightness

Cycle display brightness levels by pressing the power key. Brightness can also be adjusted in the System Controls dialog.

Night Mode

Activate Night Mode from the System Controls dialog. This mode optimizes the color palette for low-light conditions.

Using Menus

Activate menu items and toggle options using the Enter key. Adjust slider values with the arrow keys.

Sonar

The sonar function displays a view of the water and sea floor beneath your vessel, aiding in fish detection and bottom structure examination.

Sonar Image

The sonar image displays:

  • A Sensor Data: Includes Depth and Temperature.
  • B Range Scale: Indicates the depth range displayed.
  • C Water Column Activity: Shows sonar returns within the water column.
  • D Bottom: Displays the detected bottom structure.

Zoom the Image

Use the '+' and '-' keys to zoom the image. When zoomed, the sea floor remains at the bottom of the screen, regardless of auto or manual range settings. If the set range is significantly less than the actual depth, the unit may not be able to display the bottom when zoomed.

Customizing the Image Settings

By default, the unit operates in Auto mode with automated sonar settings. Access sonar settings via the menu key.

  • Range: Configure the displayed water depth.
  • Sensitivity: Adjusting sensitivity controls the level of detail shown. Higher sensitivity reveals more detail but can lead to clutter. Lower sensitivity may hide desired echoes. Auto sensitivity is recommended for most conditions.
  • Auto Sensitivity: Automatically adjusts sonar return to optimal levels, allowing for preference adjustments while maintaining auto functionality. To adjust sensitivity manually, select the Sensitivity option, press Enter to deactivate Auto sensitivity, use the arrows to set the desired level, and press Exit. Settings are saved automatically.
  • Noise Rejection: Filters signal interference from sources like bilge pumps, engine vibration, and air bubbles to reduce on-screen clutter.
  • Fish ID: Customize how fish targets are displayed. Note that not all Fish ID symbols represent actual fish.

Flasher

The Flasher app provides a live sonar view, ideal for ice fishing and vertical jigging, displaying only real-time sonar data.

Flasher Image

The flasher image displays:

  • A Sensor Data: Includes Depth, Temperature, and Supply Voltage.
  • B Range Scale: Indicates the depth range.
  • C Water Column Activity: Shows sonar returns in the water column.
  • D Bottom: Displays the detected bottom.

Customizing the Image Settings

Similar to the sonar settings, the flasher app can be customized. By default, it operates in Auto mode. Access settings via the menu key.

  • Range: Configure the displayed water depth.
  • Sensitivity: Adjust sensitivity for desired detail. Auto sensitivity is recommended.
  • Auto Sensitivity: Automatically optimizes sonar return. Manual adjustment is possible by deactivating Auto sensitivity and using the arrow keys.
  • Noise Rejection: Filters signal interference for a clearer image.

Maintenance

Preventive Maintenance

The unit contains no field-serviceable components, requiring minimal preventative maintenance. It is recommended to use the protective sun cover when the unit is not in use (sold separately). Refer to the installation guide for details.

WARNING: The sun cover is not intended for use when the vessel is in motion or being towed, as it may detach at high speeds. Always remove the sun cover before traveling.

Checking the Connectors

Periodically ensure connector plugs are securely inserted. If equipped with a lock or position key, verify it is in the correct position.

Cleaning the Display Unit

  • Screen: Use a microfiber or soft cotton cloth. Use plenty of water to dissolve salt. Avoid abrasive materials that can scratch the protective coating. A light fresh water spray followed by drying with a microfiber or soft cotton cloth is recommended. Do not apply excessive pressure.
  • Housing: Clean with warm water and mild dish soap or detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents (acetone, turpentine), acids, ammonia, or alcohol, as they can damage the display and plastic housing.

WARNING: Do not use a jet or high-pressure wash.
