Roth MultiPex® Installation

Introduction

This guide provides essential instructions for the installation of the Roth MultiPex® piping system. It covers critical steps from pipe preparation to final assembly and testing, ensuring a safe and efficient system for drinking water and central heating applications.

1. Pipe Cutting

Roth MultiPex® pipes must always be cut perpendicularly using PEX pipe scissors. Ensure a straight cut surface. Recommended tools and their reference numbers include:

• Denmark (DK): PEX pipe scissors, e.g., VVS-nr. 087393.220
• Sweden (SE): PEX pipe scissors, Roth recommends RSK nr. 242 09 01
• Norway (NO): PEX pipe scissors, e.g., NRF nr. 837 04 61
• Finland (FI): Sharp plastic pipe cutter, e.g., LVI-nro 2016517
• United Kingdom (UK): PEX pipe scissors, e.g., HVAC no. 7087393220

2. Support Bushings

Always use a Roth support bushing or an approved coupling with an integrated support bushing. This ensures proper pipe support and connection integrity.

3. Solvent Warning

Do not use products containing solvents on pipes or fittings.

4. Pipe Bending

When bending Roth MultiPex® pipes, ensure a minimum bending radius of 5 times the pipe diameter at 20°C. A maximum of 3 bends per pipe length is recommended (4 bends per pipe run in Norway). For changes in direction from vertical to horizontal guidance, use Roth bending fix or Roth mounting fix. In Finland, for connections to manifolds, taps, or radiators, use a suitable cold bending curve. In systems with up to three 90° bends, a dedicated bending curve may be needed.

5. Pipe Fixing (Light Construction)

Pipes must be fixed according to drawings 5A and 5B in light constructions using Roth clamps and fixing accessories. If pipes are insulated, the insulation must be removed at the attachment points.

6. Pipe Fixing (Heavy Construction)

In heavy constructions, pipes must be fixed according to drawing 6. Roth clamps, Roth pipe hooks, or strips can be used. For insulated pipes, remove insulation at attachment points. In heavy constructions in Sweden, observe that protective pipes must not be deformed when fixed with cable ties.

7. Assembly and Testing

Pipes are easily assembled with Roth TT push fittings or EURO distributor pipes into a waterproof Roth Quick cabinet. Pipes can be terminated with Roth Multi-through or Roth QuickBox®. The Roth MultiPex® pipe-in-pipe system must be pressure/tightness tested with water/air before walls are sealed. In Finland, connections to manifolds within cabinets or junction boxes are possible, and the system must be pressure tested with water/air before sealing walls.
