Roth Touchline SL Plus Installation
This guide provides instructions for installing the Roth Touchline SL Plus room thermostat.
Product Overview
The Roth Touchline SL Plus is a room thermostat designed for use with Roth underfloor heating systems. It offers advanced control and can be integrated with Roth controllers.
The document covers installation for various models including:
- Roth Touchline® SL Plus rumtermostat
- Roth Touchline® SL Plus termostat
- Roth Touchline® SL Plus huonetermostaatti
- Roth Touchline® SL Plus room thermostat
Installation Steps
Step 1: Opening the Thermostat Casing
To open the thermostat, insert the tip of a flat-head screwdriver into the slot located between the front and back casing. Gently twist the screwdriver to separate the two parts.
Step 2: Inserting Batteries
Insert the included batteries into the thermostat, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
Step 3: Connecting a Floor Sensor (Optional)
If a floor sensor is being used (not included), carefully push its wires into the designated clamp and screw them securely. The sensor wire should be pulled through a draw pipe. The sensor end must be placed just below the upper floor covering, positioned in the middle between the underfloor heating pipes.
Step 4: Mounting the Thermostat Backplate
Mount the backplate onto the wall using the provided screws. Once the backplate is secured, slide the thermostat onto it.
Step 5: Pairing the Thermostat with the Controller
The Roth Touchline SL thermostat can be paired with any controller in the Roth Touchline SL series. The pairing process is consistent across all controllers, using the same buttons.
Follow these steps on the controller:
- Navigate to the 'Registration' menu.
- Select 'Yes' to register the sensor/thermostat.
- Confirm the registration. The controller will search for the thermostat.
- Once paired, the display will show 'Sensor registered' or a similar confirmation.
Important Notes:
- Ensure all electrical connections to the pump, actuators, and any relays are made to the controller before applying power (230V). Refer to the controller's manual for detailed wiring instructions.
- Do not press the buttons on the front of the thermostat while pressing the pairing button on its rear.
- After successful pairing, press 'Menu' and then 'Exit' multiple times to return to the standard display.
Repeat this pairing process for any additional thermostats, assigning each to a different zone/channel (up to 8) on the controller.
Step 6: Registering the Floor Sensor (Optional)
If a floor sensor is connected to the thermostat, it also needs to be registered with the controller.
- Navigate to the 'Floor Heating' or 'Registration' menu on the controller.
- Select the option to register the floor sensor.
- Confirm the registration. The controller will search for the floor sensor.
- The display will confirm when the sensor is registered.
The controller's overview screen will then display readings for both the room thermostat (setpoint and actual temperature) and the floor sensor (actual temperature).
Step 7: Setting Floor Sensor Modes
The floor sensor's operation mode can be configured via the controller's display.
Mode 1: Floor Protection
- Select 'Floor protection' as the operation mode.
- Set the maximum temperature to protect the floor from overheating. Confirm the setting with 'Menu'.
- In this mode, heating stops if the set maximum temperature is exceeded.
Mode 2: Comfort
- Select 'Comfort' as the operation mode.
- Set the desired minimum floor temperature for comfort. Confirm the setting with 'Menu'.
- In 'Comfort' mode, the room thermostat has priority as long as the temperature is between the set minimum and maximum values. Outside these limits, the floor sensor takes priority.
Step 8: Understanding Thermostat Display and Functions
The thermostat display provides various information:
- Manual Mode: Allows direct setting of temperature.
- Battery Level: Indicates the remaining battery power.
- Pre-set Temperature: Shows the target temperature.
- Button Lock: Indicates if the buttons are locked for child safety or accidental changes.
- Signal Strength: Shows the wireless connection strength to the controller.
- Current Temperature: Displays the ambient room temperature.
- Heating/Cooling: Indicates the current operational status (heating or cooling).
Button Operations:
- Adjusting Temperature: In sleep mode, press the up (^) or down (v) buttons to change the temperature. Confirm the new setting by pressing 'Menu'.
- Switching Display: Briefly press the 'Exit' button to toggle between temperature and relative humidity displays.
- Locking/Unlocking Buttons: To lock, navigate to the lock function in the menu, select 'Yes', and confirm. The buttons will lock automatically after 10 seconds of inactivity. To unlock, press and hold both the up (^) and down (v) buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds.
- Viewing Calibration Value: Press and hold 'Menu' for 3 seconds. The display will show 'Cal' and the calibrated temperature. Calibration values can only be adjusted on the controller.
- Deleting Thermostat from Controller: Press and hold 'Menu' for 3 seconds, release, then briefly press 'Menu' again. Select 'Yes' to confirm deletion.
- Viewing Firmware Version: Press and hold 'Menu' for 3 seconds, release, then briefly press 'Menu' twice.
