Disposal
Product Disposal
This symbol (referring to the WEEE symbol) must appear on all electrical and electronic equipment placed on the EU market. It indicates that this device should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life. Owners of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) must dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. End users are required to separate spent batteries and accumulators not enclosed by the WEEE, as well as lamps that can be removed from the WEEE without damage, before handing them over to a collection point.
Distributors of electrical and electronic equipment are legally obliged to provide free take-back of waste. Conrad offers the following free return options (more details on their website):
- In Conrad stores
- At Conrad collection points
- At collection points of public waste management authorities or systems set up by manufacturers and distributors as per the ElektroG (German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act).
The end user is responsible for deleting personal data from the WEEE to be disposed of. Note that different obligations for the return and recycling of WEEE may apply in countries outside of Germany.
Battery/Accumulator Disposal
Remove any inserted batteries/accumulators and dispose of them separately from the product. As an end consumer, you are legally obliged (according to the Battery Directive) to return all used batteries/accumulators; disposal via household waste is prohibited.
Batteries/accumulators containing hazardous substances are marked with a symbol (often a crossed-out trash bin ?️) indicating that disposal via household waste is forbidden. The designations for the predominant heavy metal are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (designation is on the batteries/accumulators, e.g., below the trash bin symbol).
You can return your used batteries/accumulators free of charge to your municipality's collection points, Conrad stores, or wherever batteries/accumulators are sold. This fulfills legal obligations and contributes to environmental protection.
Before disposal, cover exposed contacts of batteries/accumulators completely with a piece of insulating tape to prevent short circuits. Even empty batteries/accumulators can contain residual energy that may become dangerous in case of a short circuit (swelling, overheating, fire, explosion).
