- B: Screws (x4)
- C: Mounting Bracket Tool (x1)
- D: Thermal Paste (x1)
Installation for Intel Platforms
Follow these steps for installing the cooler on an Intel motherboard:
- Prepare the Motherboard: Ensure the motherboard is on a stable surface. If using a backplate (not included in this specific diagram but often required), install it first.
- Apply Thermal Paste: Apply a small amount of the provided thermal paste (D) to the center of the CPU's Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS). A pea-sized amount is generally sufficient.
- Mount the Cooler: Align the cooler's mounting mechanism with the corresponding mounting holes on the motherboard around the CPU socket.
- Secure the Cooler: Use the provided screws (B) to fasten the cooler to the motherboard. Tighten the screws evenly in a cross pattern to ensure consistent pressure.
- Attach the Fan: Mount the fan (A) onto the heatsink using the provided clips or screws. Ensure the fan is oriented for proper airflow (typically blowing towards the rear of the case).
- Connect Fan Header: Connect the fan's power cable to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard. Connect the RGB cable to an appropriate RGB header on the motherboard or controller.
Installation for AMD Platforms
Follow these steps for installing the cooler on an AMD motherboard:
- Prepare the Motherboard: Remove any stock cooler mounting hardware if necessary. Ensure the motherboard is on a stable surface.
- Apply Thermal Paste: Apply a small amount of the provided thermal paste (D) to the center of the CPU's Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS).
- Mount the Cooler: Align the cooler's mounting mechanism with the CPU socket mounting points on the motherboard. For AMD, this often involves hooking onto the existing retention bracket or using specific standoffs.
- Secure the Cooler: Use the provided screws (B) or the appropriate mounting hardware for your AMD socket to secure the cooler. Tighten evenly in a cross pattern.
- Attach the Fan: Mount the fan (A) onto the heatsink. Ensure correct airflow direction.
- Connect Fan Header: Connect the fan's power cable to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard. Connect the RGB cable to an appropriate RGB header.
Fan and RGB Connection
Ensure both the fan power cable and the RGB lighting cable are correctly connected:
- Fan Power: Connect to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard for proper speed control and monitoring.
- RGB Lighting: Connect to a compatible RGB header (e.g., 4-pin RGB or 3-pin ARGB) on the motherboard or an external RGB controller for lighting effects.
Dimensions
Refer to the diagrams for specific dimensions:
- Air Frost 2: Height: 155mm, Fan Diameter: 120mm
- Air Frost 4: Height: 155mm, Fan Diameter: 120mm
Note: Specific clearances for RAM and PCIe slots may vary depending on the motherboard.
