Precautions
Before using this pocket-sized radio recorder, please follow the basic safety tips to ensure safe and reliable use of the product:
- Read and understand all safety guidelines and usage information.
- It is recommended to use the original lithium battery.
- Use a charging device with an output voltage of 5V, 500mA-1000mA to avoid damaging the lithium battery and device.
- If the lithium battery will not be used for an extended period, remove it, store it separately, and charge it once a month.
- Do not expose the radio to rain, moisture, or any liquid drops.
- Avoid direct heat sources. Do not bake or blow dry the product.
- Do not expose the device to direct sunshine for extended periods.
- Do not drop the product or apply heavy pressure.
Introduction
The RETEKESS V115 is an integrated digital electric tuning radio that can play MP3 and WMA files. It features multilingual menu operation, synchronous lyric display, MIC Recording, Radio Recording, LINE IN Recording, and stereo earphone output. It is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery, which can be replaced with a larger capacity BL-5C battery for longer playtime.
Key Operations and Features
Battery Power Supply
Installation/Replacement:
- Open the battery cover.
- Insert the lithium battery according to the polarity indicated.
- Close the battery cover.
- Before first use, charge the lithium battery for 6 hours. After the first charge, subsequent charging should take approximately 4 hours.
- It is recommended to use the provided 5V, 500mA charger.
Charging:
- Use an external adapter (not included) with a 5V DC/500mA rating via the USB port.
- Connect the Micro-USB cable to the radio and the other end to a USB adapter.
- During charging, the battery icon on the display moves from right to left and stops when fully charged. Disconnect the radio and adapter.
- Note: Alternating current may interfere with radio signals during charging, so it is not recommended to use the radio while charging.
- Do not use the AC adapter or computer to power the radio for music playback or listening when the battery is unloaded.
- If the radio is not used for a long time, unload the battery or fully charge it once every 2 months.
- Charging via PC: Connect the radio to a computer using the provided USB cable. The battery symbol will move from right to left during charging and stop when fully charged.
Battery Consumption Indicator: [1] Full, [2] Medium, [3] Low, [4] Exhausted.
Radio Operation
Power On/Off: Long press the Power button to turn the device on or off.
Antenna: Extend the FM/SW antenna.
Band Selection: Press the AM/FM or SW key to select the desired band.
Automatic Station Search & Store: In radio mode, long press the [▶️] button to initiate automatic search and store. Stations are automatically numbered and stored by frequency. Use [►►] or [◄◄] to cycle through stored stations. To delete an interfering station, long press the DEL key.
Manual Station Saving:
- In radio mode, long press [►►] or [◄◄] to search stations forward or backward. The search stops when a station is received.
- Direct Frequency Input: Enter the station frequency using the number keys (e.g., 88.5) and press [▶️] to confirm.
- Shortwave Operation: Press the SW key to cycle through metric waves (e.g., 60m, 49m). Long press [►►] after selecting a waveband to search stations.
- To save a station manually, after finding it via A, B, or C, long press the MEMO "5" key. When "CH00" flashes, enter the storage location using number keys, then press "PLAY" to save.
AM Stepping Set: In AM mode, long press MENU, navigate to "AM Stepping", and select 9 KHz or 10 KHz (North America).
Delete Station: Tune to the station, long press DEL, confirm deletion with [▶️].
Mute: Press [▶️] to mute/unmute the radio. The mute icon will flash when active.
Music Play Operation
- Insert a TF card with MP3 or WMA format music.
- Press Power to turn on the device.
- Press MODE to enter playback mode. The screen will display song name, format, and time.
- Use [◄◄] or [►►] to select the previous/next song, or use number keys to select a specific song and press [▶️] to confirm.
- Press REPEAT to repeat a song ([?] icon) or repeat all songs ([?] icon).
Play Setup: Settings like Main Directory, Play Mode (Repeat All, Repeat One, Repeat Directory), and Sound Effect (Natural, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Country, Heavy Bass) can be adjusted.
Computer Data Transmission: Connect the device via Micro USB cable. The computer will install drivers. The device can be used as a card reader or external USB speaker.
Recording Operation
MIC Recording: Insert TF card, turn on device, press MODE, long press REC to enter MIC recording. Press REC to finish.
LINE IN Recording: Connect external audio cable to "Line in". Play external audio, adjust volume, long press REC to enter LINE IN recording. Press REC to finish.
Radio Recording: Enter radio mode, tune to a station, long press REC to start radio recording. Press [▶️] to pause/resume recording. Press REC to finish.
Recording File Invoking: Long press REC FILE "0" key, then use [◄◄] or [►►] to select files (MIC, LIN, RAD).
Recording File Deletion: Long press REC FILE "0", select file, long press DEL, confirm deletion.
Key Locking: Long press MODE to lock/unlock keys. A lock icon [?] appears when locked.
System Setup
Long press MENU to enter System Setup. Options include:
- Auto Power: Set automatic shutdown time (0-90 minutes).
- Contrast: Adjust screen contrast (1-15 level).
- Back light Time: Set backlight to Normal ON, OFF, or a duration.
- Language: Select Chinese, English, or Spanish.
- Record Set: Choose compression ratio (Simple 64kbps, Quality 96kbps, Super 128kbps).
- Back: Return to the main screen.
Sleep Shutdown Setup: In System Setup, select "Auto Power", set time (00-90 minutes), and confirm. A shutdown icon [?] will appear.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot turn on: Check battery charge.
- Cannot connect to computer: Ensure radio is OFF. Try a different USB cable.
- No sound from speaker: Check volume level.
- Cannot play audio from TF card/USB: Check card/USB compatibility, file format, or try different media.
- Cannot charge: Verify adapter/cable connection and integrity.
- Speaker sound with earbuds: Earbuds with MIC function may cause this. Try earbuds without MIC.
- Poor SW reception: SW reception is sensitive to time of day, solar cycles, weather. Best reception is often at night and outdoors.

- Do not place the radio speaker directly against your ear.
- Note: Prolonged exposure to loud noise can cause temporary or permanent hearing damage. The louder the volume, the less time is needed before hearing may be affected.
