Advantages of Toshiba Technology
Inverter air conditioning units increase or decrease their output by regulating the speed of their compressor. When the actual room temperature approaches the desired temperature, the inverter precisely reduces the compressor speed to cover immediate heat losses or gains. This saves energy and reduces temperature fluctuations in the room.
Thanks to compressor speed regulation, only the necessary power is supplied. Smooth speed regulation without frequent compressor on/off cycles significantly extends the lifespan of the entire air conditioning unit. TOSHIBA was the first manufacturer to introduce inverter technology in 1981. Since then, TOSHIBA has continuously refined and intensively developed this technology.

Toshiba's inverter control uses two different types of power control for the compressor: PWM mode – Pulse Width Modulation for maximum efficiency during partial load (maximum energy saving), or PAM mode – Pulse Amplitude Modulation for maximum power and fastest achievement of the set desired temperature (maximum system output).

RAV – Solution for One Room
Toshiba Business offers two basic solutions depending on the installation scope and operating requirements. The RAV Light Business series handles single-room air conditioning with one outdoor unit and one to four indoor units, in a single temperature zone. The VRF Business series is designed for multi-room air conditioning solutions in medium to large buildings.
RAV – Solution for One Room
A solution for a single room suitable wherever professional performance is needed, e.g., in an office, shop, or technical room. Wherever reliability, professional use, or continuous operation is required. With the RAV series, one outdoor unit can be connected to one to four indoor units of the same type, with the choice depending on the required cooling capacity distribution in the room. The nominal cooling capacity for RAV units ranges from 2.5 kW to 22.5 kW.

RAV – Indoor Units

Efficiency Assessment
The efficiency and operational economy of air conditioning units and heat pumps are expressed by efficiency coefficients.
The cooling or heating efficiency coefficient is the ratio of the produced cooling or heating output to the electrical power consumed to obtain or transfer the thermal power. The higher this coefficient, the higher the unit's energy efficiency and lower its consumption.
A COP value of 4.0 means that the unit, when operating at nominal power with 1 kW of electrical input, produces up to 4 kW of heating output – i.e., four times the input.
However, the COP coefficient has minimal indicative value for the unit's quality, as it only describes behavior at maximum 100% output.
- EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio): Cooling efficiency coefficient.
- COP (Coefficient Of Performance): Heating efficiency coefficient.
- SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio): Annual cooling efficiency coefficient (for the entire year). Extended by seasonal factors. Measured at outdoor temperatures of +20°C, +25°C, +30°C, and +35°C.
- SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient Of Performance): Annual heating efficiency coefficient (for the entire year). Extended by seasonal factors. Measured at outdoor temperatures of +12°C, +7°C, +2°C, and -7°C.
The annual efficiency coefficient for air conditioners and heat pumps is called SEER for cooling mode and SCOP for heating mode, and it accounts for variations in outdoor temperatures, thus reflecting different operational efficiencies throughout the year.
