TOSHIBA RAV LIGHT BUSINESS
Air conditioning for technical spaces, for commercial and retail applications
Main Advantages of TOSHIBA Systems
TOSHIBA LIGHT BUSINESS offers professional air conditioning solutions for demanding operating conditions. Devices allow for cooling, heating, dehumidification, and air filtration. The key criterion is improved working conditions for people and technology.
Did you know that at room temperatures above 24°C, work productivity drops significantly? At 33°C, performance can fall below 50%. High humidity also reduces concentration. TOSHIBA RAV air conditioning systems create optimal indoor environments 24/7, preventing deterioration of the working environment.
Cooling & Heating: Guarantee of High Work Productivity
Hot summer days reduce performance and concentration. This can lead to a 70% decrease in work output. For machinery and technical applications, overheating can be fatal. TOSHIBA RAV units cool, heat, and dehumidify, ensuring ideal conditions (19-25°C, 40-70% humidity) year-round.
Dehumidification: Healthy Environment
Moist air damages health and building structures. Stuffy, hot conditions make breathing difficult, leading to fatigue and reduced performance. High humidity also promotes mold growth. Toshiba air conditioners not only cool but also dehumidify, reducing moisture levels.
Air Purification: Health Protection
Beyond dust and pollen, indoor air can be contaminated by volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from building materials, paints, plastics, and electronics. TOSHIBA air conditioning systems feature advanced filtration systems that neutralize up to 99% of airborne impurities, contributing to health protection.
Ventilation: Pleasant Environment
Most split air conditioning systems can be equipped with an optional fresh air intake port. This enhances indoor air quality, comfort, and human performance.

Advantages of TOSHIBA Technology
Inverter Technology
Inverter air conditioning units adjust compressor speed to regulate cooling or heating output. When the actual room temperature approaches the setpoint, the inverter precisely reduces compressor speed to cover immediate heat loss or gain, saving energy and minimizing temperature fluctuations. This technology delivers only the required output, extending the lifespan of the system by avoiding frequent compressor start/stop cycles. TOSHIBA pioneered inverter technology in 1981 and has continuously refined it.
The graph illustrates how inverter technology maintains a stable temperature by adjusting compressor output, contrasting with systems that cycle on and off more frequently.
Toshiba's inverter control uses two operating modes: PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) for maximum efficiency at partial load and PAM (Pulse Amplitude Modulation) for maximum power and rapid temperature achievement.
Quiet Operation and Long Lifespan
The unique TOSHIBA Twin Rotary compressor, with its two chambers and counter-rotating cams, ensures maximum mechanical stability and minimal vibration, resulting in quiet operation and a long lifespan.
Stable Temperature, No Fluctuations
Inverter control adjusts TOSHIBA system output from 20% to 100%. This wide operating range maintains a stable temperature, offering greater consistency than systems that frequently cycle their compressors.
Two Control Modes – PWM & PAM
For rapid achievement of desired room temperature, PAM mode is activated, delivering high power. Once the target temperature is reached, the system switches to PWM mode for optimal energy efficiency and minimal consumption.
Nearly Continuous Regulation
Compressor speed, and thus system output, can be regulated almost continuously in minimal increments of 0.1 Hz, ensuring precise output adjustment and optimal energy utilization.
Precise and Clear Control
Special functions like "Soft Cooling" and "Dual Setpoint" provide maximum user comfort. Whether prioritizing comfort or efficiency, TOSHIBA systems deliver with easy operation and simple controls.
Small, Large, or Even Larger
TOSHIBA Business offers two primary solutions based on installation scope and operational requirements. The RAV Light Business series handles single-room air conditioning with one outdoor unit and one to four indoor units, creating a single temperature zone. The VRF Business series is designed for multi-room air conditioning in medium to large buildings.
RAV – Solution for a Single Room
This solution is ideal for professional applications in offices, retail spaces, or technical rooms where reliability and continuous operation are essential. A single outdoor unit can connect to one to four indoor units of the same type, allowing for flexible distribution of cooling capacity within the room. Nominal cooling capacity for the RAV series ranges from 2.5 kW to 23 kW.
Advantages of the RAV Series
- Wide Application Range: Suitable for small server rooms to large supermarkets, adapting to required capacity and desired temperature.
- Cooling or Heating: All units can cool or heat, providing year-round operation and stable temperatures.
- Up to Four Indoor Units: One outdoor unit can be combined with one to four indoor units of the same type.
- 24-Hour Continuous Operation: Essential for technical rooms like server rooms, computer labs, warehouses, and laboratories requiring constant temperature control throughout the year.
VRF Systems – Solution for Multiple Rooms
VRF Business systems are designed for large and complex applications in buildings such as offices, shopping centers, and hotels. They offer exceptional variability and flexibility, allowing up to 128 indoor units (serving 128 rooms) to be connected to a single system. A single system can have a nominal cooling capacity of up to 355 kW. Multiple systems can be installed, and central control is available.
Advantages of VRF Systems
- Enormous System Flexibility: Total refrigerant pipe length up to 1,200 m and height difference up to 110 m, allowing for installation with minimal restrictions.
- Simultaneous Cooling and Heating: A 3-pipe system enables independent heating and cooling, allowing some indoor units to cool while others heat.
- Up to 128 Indoor Units: A maximum of 128 indoor units can be installed and connected within a single system. Modular design allows for multiple configurations of independent systems.
- Heat Recovery: Heat energy from one part of the building can be transferred to another area where it is needed, with minimal loss.
Indoor Units for a Single Room
- Wall-Mounted Units: Easy installation, simple, and efficient. Discreet design suitable for offices, shops, hotels, technical rooms, and restaurants. Efficiency Assessment
Efficiency, or operational economy, of air conditioning and heat pump systems is expressed by efficiency coefficients. The efficiency coefficient for cooling or heating is the ratio of the generated cooling or heating output to the electrical power consumed to achieve that output. A higher coefficient indicates greater energy efficiency and lower consumption.
A COP value of 4.0 means that the system, at its rated output, generates 4 kW of heating output for every 1 kW of electrical input – a fourfold increase. However, the COP value alone provides limited insight into system quality, as it only describes performance at maximum 100% output.
- EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio): Cooling efficiency coefficient.
- COP (Coefficient Of Performance): Heating efficiency coefficient.
- SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio): Annual cooling efficiency coefficient (over the entire year). Includes seasonal factors and measurements at various outdoor temperatures (+20°C, +25°C, +30°C, +35°C).
- SCOP (Seasonal Coefficient Of Performance): Annual heating efficiency coefficient. Includes seasonal factors and measurements at various outdoor temperatures (+12°C, +7°C, +2°C, -7°C).
- ESEER (European SEER): European SEER. This coefficient is commonly used to assess air conditioning system quality, considering partial load operation and varying outdoor temperatures. The EU uses a standardized formula that calculates normalized efficiencies for specific partial load conditions and outdoor temperatures, with weights assigned based on typical European temperature conditions.
