Care Maintenance
Cambridge Casual furniture is crafted using sustainably harvested wood. Follow these recommendations for longevity and appearance.
General Outdoor Care
- Regular cleaning is essential.
- Use furniture covers or store in a covered location during inclement weather (rain, winter).
- Ensure furniture and cushions are clean and dry before storing.
- Remove wet cushions from frames and air dry to prevent mold.
- Avoid storing furniture near central heating/cooling vents to prevent excessive drying.
- Do not allow liquids to stand on surfaces.
- Do not place hot items directly on furniture.
- Use a padded barrier when writing on furniture.
- Avoid leaving furniture in puddles or on wet ground.
Unfinished Natural / Finely Sanded Teak
Characteristics:
- Natural variations in grain and color are normal.
- Small splits, knots, and joint lines contribute to the character and do not affect quality.
- Natural teak weathers to a silver-gray patina. Sealer or oil can maintain the original honey brown color.
- Teak expands/contracts with climate, potentially causing hairline cracks in joints, which do not compromise structural integrity.
- Surface mildew may form but does not impact durability and can be removed with cleaning.
Care & Maintenance:
- Clean with warm water and mild dish soap, scrubbing gently with the grain. Rinse thoroughly and air dry.
- For tougher stains, use a mixture of 1 cup chlorine bleach, 1 cup laundry detergent, and 1 gallon of water. Apply with a soft-bristle brush, let sit for 5-10 minutes (longer for stubborn stains), then rinse thoroughly.
- Always start with a milder cleaning solution.
- For persistent stains, lightly sand affected areas with 120-grit sandpaper.
Weathered Teak
This finish is hand-applied for a distressed look. It will fade and wear over time with exposure to elements. As the finish wears, natural teak will be exposed and turn gray. This process is accelerated by lack of protection. To preserve the finish, use covered storage or a furniture cover, especially during extreme weather or winter.
Spa Collection Teak
This teak has water and stain guard applied. Maintain with solvent-based polyurethane coating every six months as recommended by the manufacturer. For everyday maintenance, clean with mild detergent and a clean cloth. Avoid chemical solvents.
Painted Hardwood
Apply water-based mild detergent using a clean cloth every six months. Do not use chemical solvents. Color/finish may fade with continuous exposure to sunlight and rain. Store indoors or use a cover during extreme weather.
Cushions
Fabrics are breathable and water-resistant (not waterproof). Remove and store cushions in a dry place when not in use or during inclement weather. Air dry wet cushions thoroughly. Flip cushions on their sides with zippers unzipped to allow water to drain. Clean periodically by wiping spills immediately and spot cleaning. Removable covers can be machine washed in cold water with mild soap and air dried. Rotate cushions periodically to distribute wear and maintain shape.
Synthetic Rattan, Woven Polyrope, & Textilene
Dust periodically with a soft, dry cloth. Use a soft, non-metallic brush for loose dirt. For spot cleaning, spray with a hose and dry with a soft cloth. For thorough cleaning, use a mixture of mild soap and water with a soft-bristle brush. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Proper maintenance ensures furniture longevity.
1 Year Limited Warranty
This is a limited warranty for the original purchaser, requiring regular care and maintenance. If a product fails under warranty terms, it will be replaced, possibly with a small fee. Discontinued models may be replaced with similar items.
1 Year Limited Frame Warranty:
Wood frames are warranted against structural defects. Natural aging, fading, and changes in wood color are normal and not covered. Components subject to wear (e.g., chair feet) are not considered part of the frame.
Finish Warranty:
The finish is warranted against peeling, cracking, or blistering for 1 year, provided the unit has not been scratched or abraded. Scratches and dents from normal wear are not covered.
Fabric Warranty:
Fabrics and cushions are warranted against workmanship or material defects. Failures due to chemical exposure, cleaning products, lotions, oil spills, improper maintenance, or extreme heat are not covered.
Warranty Exclusions:
This warranty excludes:
- Commercial, non-residential use.
- Clearance, display models, or "as is" items.
- Damage from unreasonable use, abuse, freight, acts of nature, vandalism, fire, lack of care, or improper assembly.
- Exposure to severe weather (snowstorms, hail, heavy rain, flooding, hurricanes, extreme heat).
- Accidental damage, customer repairs, or modifications.
- Strap and fabric fading/discoloration from elements, spills, or chemicals.
- Hardware corrosion or rusting.
- Buckling or splitting of tubing from water/freezing exposure.
- Normal wear and tear, loss of use, inconvenience, money, travel, packaging, or consequential/incidental damages.
Manufacturer's responsibility is limited to the product's value. The warranty starts from the purchase date.
