Care Maintenance
General Outdoor Care:
- Regular cleaning is important.
- Use furniture covers or store in a covered location during inclement weather.
- Ensure furniture and cushions are clean and dry before covering or storing.
- Remove wet cushions and air dry to prevent mold and mildew.
- Do not store furniture in areas with direct heating or cooling vents.
- Avoid standing liquids on furniture surfaces.
- Do not place hot items directly on furniture.
- Do not write on furniture without a padded barrier.
- Do not leave furniture in puddles of water.
Unfinished Natural / Finely Sanded Teak:
- Natural variations in grain and color are normal.
- Small splits, knots, and joint lines contribute to character.
- Natural teak develops a silver-gray patina; teak sealer or oil can maintain the original color.
- Teak expands and contracts with climate changes, potentially causing hairline cracks in joints, which do not affect structural integrity.
- Surface mildew may form but does not impact durability and can be cleaned.
Care & Maintenance (Teak):
- Clean with warm water and mild dish soap, scrubbing with the grain. Rinse and air dry.
- For tougher stains, use a mixture of 1 cup chlorine bleach, 1 cup laundry detergent, and 1 gallon of water. Apply with a soft-bristle brush, let sit for 5-10 minutes, rinse thoroughly.
- Start with milder solutions; use stronger concentrations or teak cleaners if needed.
- For remaining stains, lightly sand with 120-grit sandpaper.
Weathered Teak:
- Hand-applied finish may fade and wear with outdoor exposure.
- Natural teak will be exposed and turn gray as the finish wears.
- Preserve weathered teak by moving to covered storage or using a furniture cover during extreme weather.
Spa Collection Teak:
- Maintained with solvent-based polyurethane protective coating every six months.
- For everyday maintenance, clean with mild detergent and a clean cloth. Avoid chemical solvents.
Painted Hardwood:
- Apply water-based mild detergent with a clean cloth every six months. Avoid chemical solvents.
- Color may fade with sun and rain exposure; store indoors or use a cover during extreme weather.
Cushions:
- Fabrics are breathable, water-resistant, but not waterproof.
- Remove and store cushions in a dry place when not in use or during inclement weather.
- Air dry wet cushions on their sides with the zipper down to ensure proper drainage.
- Clean off dust and dirt periodically; wipe spills immediately.
- Spot clean soon after stains occur.
- Removable cushion covers can be machine washed in cold water with mild soap and air dried.
- Periodically rotate cushions and pillows to distribute wear and prevent loss of shape.
Synthetic Rattan, Woven Polyrope, & Textilene:
- Dust periodically with a soft, dry cloth.
- Remove loose dirt with a soft, non-metallic bristle brush.
- For spot-cleaning, spray off debris with a hose and dry with a soft cloth.
- For thorough cleaning, use a mixture of mild soap and water with a soft-bristle brush. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
