Precautions and Care
Follow these guidelines to ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your Casio watch.
Temperature
Avoid exposing the watch to extreme temperatures (e.g., on a car dashboard, near heaters, or in freezing conditions). Extreme temperatures can cause timekeeping inaccuracies or malfunctions.
Impact
This watch is designed for normal daily use. Avoid dropping the watch or subjecting it to strong impacts. For activities involving high impact or vibration, consider Casio's G-SHOCK, Baby-G, or G-ms series.
Magnetic Fields
Avoid placing the watch near strong magnetic fields (e.g., speakers, magnetic necklaces, mobile phones). Magnetic fields can cause the watch to lose time, gain time, or stop.
Electrostatic Discharge
Strong electrostatic discharge can cause incorrect time display or damage electronic components.
Chemicals
Keep the watch away from solvents, gasoline, thinners, petroleum products, cleaning agents, alcohol, nail polish, adhesives, paints, and other chemicals. Contact can discolor or damage the watch case, resin band, or leather strap.
Storage
If you plan to store the watch for an extended period, clean off all dirt, sweat, and moisture. Store in a cool, dry place.
Polymer Parts Care
- Avoid prolonged contact with other items, especially when wet, to prevent color transfer to the resin parts.
- Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight (UV radiation) or accumulated dirt can cause discoloration. Clean dirt promptly with water and dry thoroughly.
- Friction on colored parts can lead to color transfer.
- Dirt on numbered straps can transfer to skin or clothing.
- Sweat, dirt, and high temperatures can discolor translucent resin parts.
- Contact an authorized Casio service center for replacement of polymer parts.
Leather Straps Care
- Avoid prolonged contact with other items, especially when wet, to prevent color transfer.
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight or accumulated dirt, which can cause discoloration.
- Friction and dirt can also cause discoloration.
Metal Parts Care
- Dirt accumulation can cause rust, even on stainless steel or plated parts.
- After exposure to sweat or water, wipe the watch dry with a soft cloth and allow it to air dry in a well-ventilated area.
- Clean metal bands with a soft toothbrush and a mild neutral detergent solution. Avoid getting the solution on the watch case.
Antibacterial and Deodorant Strap
The antibacterial and deodorant strap helps prevent odors caused by sweat-related bacteria. Keep the strap clean for maximum effectiveness by wiping off dirt, sweat, and moisture with a soft cloth. While it inhibits microorganisms, it does not prevent allergic reactions.
Water Resistance
Your Casio watch may be marked with "WATER RESIST" or "WATER RESISTANT" on the case back, indicating its level of water resistance for daily use.
Marking | 5 BAR | 10 BAR | 20 BAR |
---|---|---|---|
Washing hands, rain | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Water-related activities, swimming | No | Yes | Yes |
Windsurfing | No | Yes | Yes |
Diving | No | Yes | Yes |
- Do not use the watch for scuba diving or other activities requiring air tanks.
- Do not operate the crown or buttons underwater or when the watch is wet.
- Avoid wearing the watch in baths or places where detergents (soap, shampoo, etc.) are used, as these can reduce water resistance.
- Rinse the watch with fresh water after exposure to seawater.
- To maintain water resistance, have the seals replaced periodically (approximately every two to three years).
- Consult an authorized Casio service center for battery replacement and water resistance checks.
User Maintenance
Regular care ensures your watch functions correctly and looks its best.
- General Cleaning: Dirt and rust can stain clothing, irritate skin, and affect watch performance. Keep the case and band clean. Seawater exposure is a common cause of rust.
- Strap Cleaning: Wipe resin bands with a cloth to remove dirt spots. Clean leather straps with a dry cloth.
- Strap Wear: Resin and leather straps can wear out and crack over time. Replace straps that are severely cracked or worn to prevent loss.
- Battery Replacement: Have the battery replaced by the place of purchase or an authorized Casio service center. Use only the specified battery type. Request a water resistance check during battery replacement.
- Low Battery Indication: Signs include slow-moving hands, a dim display, or no display. Continued use with a low battery can lead to malfunctions. Replace the battery promptly.
