Important Notes & Cautions
CAUTION: Metra recommends disconnecting the negative battery terminal before beginning any installation. All accessories, switches, and especially air bag indicator lights must be plugged in before reconnecting the battery or cycling the ignition.
NOTE: Refer to the instructions included with the aftermarket radio.
Dash Disassembly
IMPORTANT NOTE: The factory radio must be powered off before starting disassembly. Omitting this step will disable the menu function.
Step 1: Remove Trim Panels
Unclip and remove the two (2) trim panels from the left and right side of the factory radio. (Refer to Figure A, showing removal of side trim panels near the radio).
Step 2: Remove Shifter Trim Panel
Unclip and remove the trim panel around the shifter and slide it toward the back of the console. (Refer to Figure B, illustrating the removal of the center console trim panel).
Step 3: Remove Radio/Climate Control Panel Screws
Remove six (6) 9/32" screws securing the radio/climate control panel to the dash. (Refer to Figure C, indicating screw locations on the main dash panel).
Step 4: Remove Radio/Climate Control Panel
Unclip and remove the factory radio/climate control panel. (Refer to Figure D, showing the complete removal of the center dash panel containing the radio and climate controls).
Step 5: Remove Radio Chassis Screws
Remove four (4) 9/32" screws securing the radio chassis. (Refer to Figure E, illustrating the removal of screws holding the radio unit itself).
Step 6: Remove Factory Display Screws
Remove four (4) 9/32" screws securing the factory display. (Refer to Figure E, indicating screws for the display unit).
Step 7: Remove Display from Brackets
Remove four (4) 9/32" screws securing the display to the display brackets. Keep the display for kit assembly. (Refer to Figure F, showing the detachment of the display from its original mounting brackets).
Kit Assembly
ISO DIN Radio Provision with Pocket
Step 1: Attach Clips
Attach the provided clips to the radio trim panel.
Step 2: Attach Factory Display
Attach the factory display to the radio trim panel using the supplied four (4) #8 x 3/8” Phillips screws. (Refer to Figure A, showing the display being attached to the trim panel).
Step 3: Mount Pocket
Mount the pocket to the radio brackets with the supplied four (4) #8 x 3/8” Phillips pan head screws. (Refer to Figure B, illustrating the pocket being attached to the brackets).
Step 4: Install Aftermarket Radio
Slide the aftermarket radio into the radio brackets and secure it with the screws supplied with the radio. (Refer to Figure B, showing the aftermarket radio being fitted into the assembly).
Step 5: Connect Wiring
Locate the factory wiring harness in the dash. Metra recommends using the proper mating adapter from Metra or AXXESS. Re-connect the negative battery terminal and test the radio for proper operation.
Step 6: Mount Assembly and Reassemble Dash
Mount the new radio assembly into the dash, snap-in the radio trim panel, and reassemble the dash in reverse order of disassembly.
Double DIN Radio Provisions
Step 1: Attach Clips
Attach the provided clips to the radio trim panel.
Step 2: Attach Factory Display
Attach the factory display to the radio trim panel using the supplied four (4) #8 x 3/8” Phillips screws. (Refer to Figure A, showing the display being attached to the trim panel).
Step 3: Mount Double DIN Radio
Mount the Double DIN radio to the radio brackets using the screws supplied with the radio. (Refer to Figure B, illustrating the Double DIN radio being attached to the brackets).
Step 4: Connect Wiring
Locate the factory wiring harness in the dash. Metra recommends using the proper mating adapter from Metra or AXXESS. Re-connect the negative battery terminal and test the radio for proper operation.
Step 5: Mount Assembly and Reassemble Dash
Mount the new radio assembly into the dash, snap-in the Radio Trim Panel, and reassemble the dash in reverse order of disassembly.
Installation Instructions - Features
Color Adjustment
Diagram shows the vehicle's climate control panel with buttons labeled: Red indicator (AC MAX), Green indicator (MODE), Blue indicator (buttons with fan/defrost symbols). Buttons include: AC, MAX, MODE, AUTO, PASS TEMP, Rear Defrost, Front Defrost, and a rotary dial. A display shows temperature (e.g., 88°F) and fan speed (e.g., 00000000).
For use with SYNC and factory screen menus.
Press and hold the bottom left hot key for 5 seconds to enter LCD color change mode.
Color Adjustment Steps:
- Press and hold the bottom left hot key for 5-seconds until the A/C icon begins to blink.
- Press and hold the MAX button to increase Red.
- Press and hold the A/C button to decrease Red.
- Press and hold the Recirculation button to increase Green.
- Press and hold the Mode button to decrease Green.
- Press and hold the Rear Defrost button to increase Blue.
- Press and hold the Front Defrost button to decrease Blue.
- After choosing your color, stop pressing buttons. After 10 seconds, the selected color will remain, and the display will stop blinking.
Heated Seat Functions (If equipped)
- Upon first initialization of the 5829, press and hold the driver heated seat button for 5 seconds to enable the heated seats. Note: This setting will be remembered by the 5829.
- Press the heated seat button once to turn the heater to the low position. The LED will light up green to indicate the low setting.
- Press the heated seat button again; the heater will go to the high position and the LED will turn red.
- Press the heated seat button again; the heater will turn off.
Dual Zone Temperature Controls (If equipped)
- Upon first initialization of the 5829, press and hold the Auto button for 5 seconds to enable the automatic climate control function. Note: This setting will be remembered by the 5829.
- To use the automatic climate control function, press the Auto button and set the temperature using the Temp adjustment button.
- To activate the Dual climate control function, press the Pass Temp button.
- The Dual icon will show on the display with an arrow pointing toward the passenger, allowing adjustment of the passenger side temperature.
- To switch to the driver temperature, push the Pass Temp button on the kit. The arrow will switch to point to the driver, and you can adjust the driver temperature.
- To exit Dual climate control mode, push the Pass Temp button for 3 seconds.
Clock Adjustment
- Press the menu button to access the on-screen menu.
- Use the directional pad on the steering wheel to scroll to "clock" in the menu.
- Adjust clock settings.
Note: If the vehicle has lost power, the original equipment (OE) radio must be re-installed, powered up, and then shut down before this menu function will work. If you plan to remove power, a memory saver is suggested to avoid this issue.
