  • Do not operate the bike under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Avoid riding in adverse weather conditions (heavy rain, snow, ice).
  • Keep hands on the handlebars and feet on the pedals while riding.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and anticipate potential hazards.
  • Do not exceed the maximum load capacity.
  • Regularly inspect your bike for wear and tear.

Assembly & Maintenance:

  • Assembly should be performed by an adult.
  • Only use genuine Engwe parts for maintenance and repairs.
  • Unauthorized modifications are prohibited and may void the warranty.

Battery & Charging:

  • Use only the provided charger.

1. Product Introduction

1.1 Packing List

Your Engwe Engine Pro 2.0 package should contain the following items:

1.2 Component Description

Main Frame Body: The central structure of the bicycle, housing the battery and motor.

Front Wheel: The wheel at the front of the bicycle.

Folding Pedals: Pedals designed to fold for easier storage and transport.

Saddle: The seat for the rider.

Seat Post: Connects the saddle to the frame and allows for height adjustment.

Handlebar: Used for steering and controlling the bike. Features folding mechanism.

Front Fender: Protects the rider from spray and debris from the front wheel.

Rear Fender: Protects the rider from spray and debris from the rear wheel.

Front Light (Headlight): Illuminates the path ahead.

Rear Light (Taillight): Increases visibility to others.

Suspension Fork: Absorbs shocks from uneven terrain for a smoother ride.

Electric Motor: Provides power assistance to the rider.

Battery: Powers the electric motor and lights. Located in the frame compartment.

Display Panel: Located on the handlebar, shows speed, battery level, assistance mode, error codes, etc.

1.3 Function Description

The Engwe Engine Pro 2.0 offers various functions to enhance your riding experience. The display panel provides real-time information. The motor provides assistance up to a certain speed (e.g., 25 km/h in Europe, 28 MPH in the US). The bike features front and rear brakes for stopping power. The folding mechanism allows for compact storage. The battery is removable for charging.

2. Getting Started

2.1 Installation Guide

2.1.1 Warning

⚠️ Assembly requires attention to detail. Ensure all parts are correctly installed and tightened. If you are unsure, seek professional assistance.

2.1.2 Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Check the packing list to ensure all items are present. Items include the main frame, front wheel, folding pedals (x2), saddle, seat post, handlebar assembly, fenders, lights, charger, and tools.

2.1.3 Installation of the Cockpit

1. Insert the stem into the head tube of the frame. 2. Secure the handlebar assembly to the stem using the provided screws (M5). 3. Ensure the handlebar is straight and tighten the screws. 4. Adjust the handlebar height and tighten the quick-release clamp.

2.1.4 Installation of the Front Fender and Front Light

1. Align the front fender with the mounting points on the suspension fork. 2. Secure the fender using M5 screws and washers. 3. Attach the front light to the designated mounting bracket on the fender or fork. 4. Connect the light's cable to the display or battery system if required.

2.1.5 Installation of the Wheels

1. For the front wheel: Remove any protective caps. Align the wheel with the fork dropouts and insert the axle. 2. Secure the front wheel using the quick-release skewer or axle nuts. 3. For the rear wheel: Ensure the chain is properly routed around the cassette. Align the wheel with the rear dropouts and insert the axle. 4. Secure the rear wheel using the quick-release skewer or axle nuts.

2.1.6 Installation and Adjustment of the Saddle

1. Insert the seat post into the seat tube of the frame. 2. Attach the saddle to the seat post clamp. 3. Adjust the saddle height to a comfortable position for your height, ensuring adequate leg extension. 4. Tighten the seat post quick-release clamp securely. 5. Ensure the saddle is level.

2.1.7 Installation of the Rear Fender and Rear Rack

1. Align the rear fender with the mounting points on the frame. 2. Secure the fender using the provided screws. 3. If a rear rack is included, attach it to the frame's mounting points using screws. 4. Ensure both are securely fastened.

2.1.8 Installation of the Rear Light

1. Mount the rear light to the rear fender or seat post using the provided bracket and screws. 2. Connect the light's cable if necessary.

2.1.9 Installation of the Pedals

1. Identify the left (L) and right (R) pedals. 2. Thread the right pedal clockwise into the crank arm on the right side of the bike. 3. Thread the left pedal counter-clockwise into the crank arm on the left side of the bike. 4. Tighten both pedals securely using a pedal wrench.

2.1.10 Final Results

Congratulations! Your bike is equipped! Double-check all connections and fasteners.

2.2 Folding

To fold the bike: 1. Release the quick-release lever on the handlebar stem and fold the handlebars down. 2. Release the quick-release lever on the main frame and fold the frame in half. 3. Fold the pedals inwards. 4. Ensure the bike is stable when folded.

2.3 Removing the Battery

To remove the battery: 1. Locate the battery release latch (usually near the battery compartment). 2. Press or slide the latch to unlock the battery. 3. Gently pull the battery out of the frame.

2.4 Charging

There are two charging methods:

1. Charge the battery directly on the frame: Connect the charger's power adapter to the charging port on the bike's frame. Plug the charger into a power outlet. The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status.

2. Remove the battery for charging: Remove the battery from the frame (see 2.3). Connect the charger's power adapter to the battery's charging port. Plug the charger into a power outlet. The indicator light on the charger will show the charging status.

Charging Notes:

  • Use only the original charger.
  • Charge the battery in a dry, well-ventilated area.
  • Do not charge the battery immediately after riding if it is hot; let it cool down first.
  • Avoid fully discharging the battery regularly.
  • For long-term storage, charge the battery to about 70% and store it in a cool environment.
  • Refer to the battery maintenance section for more details.

2.5 Quick Use

Step 1: Adjust Handlebar and Saddle

Adjust the handlebar and saddle to a comfortable height based on your body size. Ensure the seat post and handlebar stem clamps are securely tightened.

Step 2: Power On and Adjust Front Lights

Press the power button to turn on the display. Turn on the front light if needed.

Step 3: Adjust Modes

Use the mode button to cycle through assistance levels (e.g., 1-5). Use the +/- buttons to fine-tune the assistance level. Press and hold the '-' button for 3 seconds to activate Pedestrian Mode (walking assist).

Step 4: Ride on the Road

Start pedaling. The motor will provide assistance. We recommend wearing a helmet for safety.

Step 5: Braking Instructions

Use the front brake (left lever) and rear brake (right lever) to slow down or stop. Apply brakes gradually. Avoid sudden braking, especially at high speeds.

2.6 Instrument Settings

To customize settings: Press and hold the power button for 2 seconds to enter the settings menu. Use the +/- buttons to navigate through options and the mode button to select. Press and hold the power button again to exit.

Adjusting Settings:

To adjust parameters like wheel size, max speed, etc., follow the on-screen prompts. For example, to adjust the wheel size, navigate to the wheel size setting, press the mode button, use +/- to select the correct size, and press mode again to confirm.

Factory Reset:

If your settings are confused, you can reset to factory defaults. Navigate to the 'Factory Reset' option, press the mode button, and confirm the reset.

Note: This model may not support all listed setting options (e.g., 11P-18P). A 'setting invalid' message may appear if an unsupported option is selected.

3. Maintenance Guide

3.1 Usage Precautions

General Precautions:

  • Regularly inspect your bike for any loose parts or damage.
  • Keep the bike clean and dry.
  • Lubricate the chain periodically.
  • Check tire pressure regularly (max 20 PSI).
  • Ensure brakes are functioning correctly.
  • Do not ride through water that is deeper than the motor's hub.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures for the battery.

Maintenance is strictly prohibited for non-professionals. If a malfunction occurs, contact customer service or visit a designated professional maintenance station.

3.2 Maintenance and Self-Inspection

Pre-ride Inspection:

  • Tires: Check for wear and ensure proper inflation (max 20 PSI).
  • Brakes: Verify that both front and rear brakes are responsive and effective.
  • Chain: Ensure it is clean and properly lubricated.
  • Handlebar & Stem: Check for tightness and proper alignment.
  • Saddle & Seat Post: Ensure they are securely fastened at the desired height.
  • Frame: Inspect for any cracks or damage.
  • Lights: Confirm front and rear lights are working.
  • Battery: Ensure it is securely locked in place.

General Maintenance:

  • Cleaning: Clean the bike with a damp cloth. Avoid high-pressure water jets, especially near the motor and battery.
  • Lubrication: Lubricate the chain, derailleurs, and pivot points regularly.
  • Brake Adjustment: Adjust brake cables as needed to ensure proper stopping power.
  • Tire Pressure: Maintain recommended tire pressure (e.g., up to 20 PSI).

Motor Maintenance:

  • The motor is sealed and generally maintenance-free. Avoid exposing it to excessive water or impacts.
  • If you hear unusual noises from the motor, contact customer service. Do not attempt to disassemble the motor.

Battery Maintenance:

  • Keep the battery contacts clean.
  • Charge the battery regularly, even during storage. Avoid complete discharge.
  • Store the battery in a cool, dry place.
  • Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures (below -10°C or above 50°C).
  • If the battery capacity drops significantly (e.g., below 70% after 12 months), contact customer service.

4. Service Guide

4.1 After-Sales Service and Warranty Coverage

Engwe provides a limited warranty for its electric bikes. This warranty covers manufacturing defects under normal use. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, unauthorized modifications, or normal wear and tear.

Warranty Period:

  • Frame: 12 months
  • Fork, Handlebar, Seat Post, Folding Parts: 12 months
  • Motor, Controller, Battery: 12 months
  • Wheels: 1 month
  • Other Parts (Pedals, Saddle, Brakes, Levers, Fenders, Racks, Lights, etc.): 3 months

Warranty Exclusions:

  • Damage from collisions, falls, or improper use.
  • Damage caused by unauthorized repairs or modifications.
  • Normal wear and tear of consumable parts (e.g., tires, brake pads).
  • Damage due to improper charging or storage of the battery.
  • Cosmetic damage.
