SKYRC GNSS Performance Analyzer
Model: SK-500023
Introduction
The SKYRC GSM-020 GNSS Performance Analyzer is designed to measure and analyze various aspects of RC car and aeroplane performance. It utilizes the latest GNSS engine (GPS, GLONASS) to provide data on acceleration, G-force, speed, distance, and time. The device also features a barometric pressure sensor for detecting altitude, capable of measuring peak altitudes up to 29,500 feet (9000 m). This professional-grade instrument is accessible to enthusiasts, offering a way to gauge and improve performance through objective feedback before and after modifications.
Mounting the Device
- Determine the installation location. The antenna can receive signals through glass and plastic but not metal or other conductive surfaces. Ensure the antenna is not covered or shielded by any metallic object to avoid interference.
- Clean the mounting surface thoroughly, removing any dirt or debris.
- Use the provided hook and loop tape to secure the device to the surface.
- Since the device uses a barometric pressure sensor for altitude detection, it must be exposed to air pressure. Do not place it in an airtight container.
GNSS Performance Analyzer App
Install the free GNSS Performance Analyzer app from the App Store or Google Play. The device requires Bluetooth for communication, so ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
Connect Before Using
Upon first launching the app, you will be prompted to choose your device. Click the Bluetooth symbol and select the GSM020 device.
Acquiring satellite signals may take a few minutes. The GNSS LED will turn GREEN when it has successfully connected with GNSS satellites.
Reconnect After Using
During testing, your Bluetooth connection may be lost if the analyzer moves out of the mobile device's range (up to 30 feet / 10 meters). This is normal, and the device will continue recording data. After racing or flying, bring your mobile device and the GNSS performance analyzer closer together to re-establish the connection automatically.
Available on the App Store and Google Play.

Charging the Device Before Use
Charge the device using the provided USB cable, connecting it to a powered USB port or USB charger. During charging, the power LED will blink slowly. Once the internal battery is fully recharged, the Power LED will turn solid white. Charging takes no more than 3 hours. The battery provides up to 6 hours of operation. In standby mode, the battery lasts for 2 weeks.
Test Modes
Drag - To Tell The Truth Before and After Modifications
This mode is for gear tuning or performance tests. The device features automatic start/stop logging, measuring every run without manual button presses. Logging begins when a satellite lock is achieved and a speed above 1.0 km/h is detected. Logging stops when pre-set criteria are met.
Test Data Displayed (simulated):
- Mode: Drag
- Time elapsed: e.g., 03'36"
- Avg. speed: e.g., 60km/h
- Max. speed: e.g., 100km/h
- Speed: e.g., 0-40km/h
- Acceleration: e.g., 0.72g
Customized Test Options:
- Speed (km/h)
- Acceleration (g)
- Distance (m)
Users can set custom criteria, such as measuring acceleration from 0-40 km/h or 10-50 km/h, or over a specific distance like 10 meters. The "Test Data" screen automatically displays results when criteria are achieved.
Caution: The test can only be initialized when the device is dead-stop.
Flying - How High Things Fly & Performance Test
In "FLYING" mode, the device measures peak altitude up to 29,500 feet (9000 m). This mode is suitable for planes, quadcopters, rockets, helicopters, gliders, and kites.
Test Data Displayed (simulated):
- Mode: Flying
- Distance: e.g., 100m
- Time elapsed: e.g., 00'45"
- Max. height: [Value measured]
Customized Test Options:
- Please set the start and end speed.
- Please set the distance between start and end.
Caution: The test can only be initialized when the device is dead-stop.
Track - Performance Test
This mode is ideal for RC racing, allowing users to easily track speed and total distance, and record top speed. The device helps users understand how fast their RC car can perform.
Test Data Displayed (simulated):
- Mode: Track
- Distance: e.g., 23m
- Time elapsed: e.g., 0'17"
- Max. speed: e.g., 12km/h
Caution: The test can only be initialized when the device is dead-stop.
