IKEA Puerto Rico Warranty Policy

General Conditions

Warranty Duration: Varies by product, valid from the date of purchase. Products not covered by specific warranties are subject to a standard 90-day warranty under the established policy.

IKEA's Solution: IKEA will examine the product to determine warranty coverage. IKEA will decide to repair or replace the defective product with an identical or similar one. IKEA covers repair costs (parts, labor, transport) if authorized and if it doesn't incur extraordinary expenses. Unauthorized repairs void the warranty. Defective parts removed during repair become IKEA's property. If a product is no longer sold by IKEA, a suitable replacement will be provided.

Warranty Conditions: Valid from the purchase date. The original receipt is required as proof of purchase.

What is NOT Covered: Incorrect storage or use, misuse, alterations, improper cleaning methods, normal wear and tear, cuts, scratches, damage from impacts or accidents, outdoor or humid environments, consequential or incidental damages, public use (unless specified). It also excludes damage from pests (termites, woodworm), unintentional/accidental damage, loss of profit, property damage, or physical injury. Warranties are for domestic use only; invoices must be in a natural person's name, excluding offices/businesses.

Maintenance Instructions: Follow specific maintenance instructions for each product. These are available at your local IKEA store and at www.IKEA.pr.

Legal Rights: This warranty grants specific legal rights, which are supplementary to statutory legal rights.

Sofas and Armchairs

[10 years warranty]

IKEA sofas and armchairs undergo rigorous testing to ensure quality and durability for domestic use. This warranty covers defects in materials and manufacturing for structures and cushions.

Duration: 10 years from the purchase date. The original simplified receipt must be presented.

Covered Products: All sofas, sofa beds, armchairs, and footstools (excluding natural fiber items, POÄNG covers, and POÄNG cushions).

What is Covered: Defects in materials and manufacturing for structures and seat/back cushions.

Products/Parts Not Covered: Fabric covers, leather covers, fixed fabric covers, natural fiber armchairs/footstools (e.g., ALSEDA, BUSKBO, GRÖNADAL, RÅDVIKEN), POÄNG cushions, POÄNG children's armchair.

Maintenance: Plump cushions monthly and alternate them. Tighten leg screws after two weeks of use and check periodically. Follow care instructions for washable covers and leather.

Office Chairs

[10 years warranty]

Office chairs are rigorously tested to meet quality, safety, and professional office use standards (EN 1022, EN 1335, ANSI/BIFMA X5.1, EN16139). This warranty covers defects in materials and manufacturing for the moving parts of swivel chairs.

Duration: 10 years from the purchase date. The original simplified receipt must be presented.

What is Covered: Defects in materials and manufacturing for chair structures and moving parts (wheels, gas lift, mechanism, armrests, backrest adjustment).

Covered Models: MARKUS, LÅNGFJÄLL, FLINTAN, HATTEFJÄLL, JÄRVFJÄLLET, TROLLBERGET, FJÄLLBERGET, ALEFJÄLL, MULLFJALLET, LIDKULLEN.

Desks and Storage

[10 years warranty]

Office furniture series like BEKANT, IDÅSEN, THYGE, RODULF, GALANT storage systems, and HÄLLAN cabinets are tested against professional office use standards (EN527, EN1730, ANSI/BIFMA X5.5, etc.). This warranty covers defects in materials, manufacturing, or function for these series.

Duration: 10 years from the purchase date. The original simplified receipt must be presented.

What is Covered: Defects in materials, manufacturing, and function for all components of BEKANT, IDÅSEN, THYGE, RODULF, GALANT storage systems, and HÄLLAN cabinets.

Products Not Covered: BEKANT screens.

Maintenance: Tighten screws after two weeks of use and check periodically.

Mattresses

[25 years warranty]

IKEA mattresses and bases are rigorously tested for quality, durability, and domestic use standards. This warranty covers defects in materials and manufacturing.

Duration: 25 years from the purchase date for mattresses and bed components (excluding electric motors). The original purchase receipt must be presented.

What is Covered: Defects in materials and manufacturing for mattress bases (wood structures), spring mattresses (coils), latex mattresses (cores), foam mattresses (cores), and slat structures.

Before First Use: Allow about a month for your body and the mattress to adjust. Unrolled mattresses regain shape in 3-4 days. Air out new materials to reduce odor. Choose an appropriate pillow for comfort.

89-Night Exchange Policy: If not fully satisfied after a month, return the mattress for an exchange. The mattress must be clean and free of stains. No refunds for used or opened mattresses.

Care and Cleaning: Use a mattress protector for hygiene. Some mattresses/toppers have washable covers; check the label. Wash covers with zippers closed. Vacuum mattresses to remove dust and mites. Use upholstery cleaner for stains. Flip/rotate mattresses every three months for even wear. Do not fold mattresses.

PAX/KOMPLEMENT Wardrobes

[10 years warranty]

PAX wardrobes and KOMPLEMENT interior accessories are tested for quality, strength, and durability for domestic use. This warranty covers defects in materials and manufacturing.

Duration: 10 years from the purchase date. The original purchase receipt must be presented.

What is Covered: Defects in materials and manufacturing for wardrobe structures, doors with hinges, drawer dividers, removable shelves, sliding doors and mechanisms, and KOMPLEMENT interior organizers.

Products Not Covered: KOMPLEMENT jewelry trays, 4-compartment KOMPLEMENT accessories, KOMPLEMENT accessories, KOMPLEMENT mats, and KOMPLEMENT boxes.

Maintenance: Assemble according to instructions, securing the structure to the wall. Clean with a damp cloth and mild cleaner, then dry.

Bathrooms

GODMORGON Furniture Series:

[10 years warranty]

Tested for quality, strength, and durability for domestic use. Covers defects in materials and manufacturing for GODMORGON furniture and legs.

Duration: 10 years from the purchase date. The original purchase receipt must be presented.

Not Covered: GODMORGON organizers.

Installation: Furniture must be wall-mounted. Ensure walls can support weight. Consult a professional if unsure. Wall mounting screws are not included.

Sinks and Faucets:

[10 years warranty]

Covers all IKEA sinks and faucets (except ÖLSKAR faucet) for domestic use, including defects in materials and manufacturing. Tested against international standards.

Duration: 10 years from the purchase date. The original purchase receipt must be presented.

Installation: Sinks must be wall-mounted. Ensure walls can support weight. Consult a professional if unsure. Wall mounting screws are not included.

Shower Faucets and Accessories:

Thermostatic shower faucets (BROGRUND, VOXNAN, VALLAMOSSE) are covered for 10 years.

3-Year Warranty: For BROGRUND and VOXNAN shower heads, handles, hoses, stems, and shower shelves. For VALLAMOSSE handles, hoses, and stems.

Kitchens

SEKTION Kitchen System:

[25 years warranty]

Tested for durability and high temperatures for daily use. Covers defects in materials and manufacturing for the SEKTION system.

Duration: 25 years from the purchase date. The original purchase receipt must be presented.

What is Covered: Frame structures (excluding TUTEMO, VADHOLMA, TÖRNVIKEN), UTRUSTA hinges, MAXIMERA drawers, UTRUSTA shelves, SEKΤΙΟΝ legs.

Products Not Covered (25, 10, or 5 years): Fronts, cover panels, knobs, handles, door opening devices, trims, sinks, wall rails, plinths, door dampers, integrated dishwasher hinges, UTRUSTA mesh baskets, electric push-opening devices, KNOXHULT and SUNNERSTA kitchen systems.

Pest Damage: Requires proof of fumigation 3-7 days before kitchen installation.

After-Sales Service: 2 years of service for kitchen doors and drawer fronts, subject to stock availability, for up to two years after discontinuation.

Kitchen Faucets:

[10 years warranty]

Covers defects in materials and manufacturing for IKEA kitchen faucets (except LAGAN). Tested to international standards.

Duration: 10 years from the purchase date. The original purchase receipt must be presented.

Not Covered: LAGAN faucet, normal wear and tear, cuts, scratches, impact damage, water residue, or filters requiring regular cleaning/replacement.

Appliances:

[5 years warranty]

Covers defects in materials and manufacturing for IKEA kitchen appliances for domestic use.

Duration: 5 years from the purchase date. The original purchase receipt must be presented. Repairs during warranty do not extend the warranty period.

Covered Appliances: All IKEA kitchen appliances.

Not Covered: LAGAN and TILLREDA series.

IKEA's Solution: IKEA or its service company will repair or replace. Customer must uninstall if installed in other furniture. Service company provides service. Warranty does not cover natural wear, deliberate damage, misuse, incorrect installation, chemical reactions, corrosion, humidity, water hardness, environmental conditions, requests for installation/user instructions, fuses, wiring, plumbing, specific parts (ceramic, accessories, seals, bulbs, etc.) unless due to production defects, cases with no fault found, unauthorized repairs/parts, consumables (bulbs, filters), damage from accidents, alterations, misuse, abuse, fire, flood, force majeure, improper installation, or cleaning products. Superficial damage (scratches, dents) not reported within 30 days is not covered. Loss of food due to freezer/refrigerator failure, pick-up/transport, or removal/reinstallation if inaccessible or improperly installed are not covered. Warranty void if serial number is altered.

SENSUELL Cookware Series

[25 years warranty]

Tested for daily use, quality, safety, and durability. Guarantees function for 25 years with normal domestic use and maintenance.

Covered Products: SENSUELL 4-piece cookware set, stainless steel.

Duration: 25 years from the purchase date. The original purchase receipt must be presented.

What is Covered: Material and manufacturing defects for all SENSUELL products. Base stability and heat conduction properties are guaranteed. Dishwasher safe for stainless steel.

Not Covered: Changes in appearance unless they significantly affect function.

Maintenance: Do not use steel wool or abrasive sponges. Add salt after water boils. Let cool before washing to prevent warping. Do not leave wet.

TROVÄRDIG Pans

[5 years warranty]

Designed for quality and function, these non-stick pans are guaranteed for 5 years with normal domestic use and maintenance.

Covered Products: TROVÄRDIG pan Ø11”, aluminum/non-stick; TROVÄRDIG pan Ø9”, aluminum/non-stick.

Duration: 5 years from the purchase date. The original simplified receipt must be presented.

What is Covered: Function, materials, and manufacturing. Pans will function like new for 5 years with normal use (cooking and washing once daily).

Coverage includes: Base stability for efficient heat transfer. Non-stick properties for easy cleaning and low-fat cooking for at least 5 years.

Not Covered: Changes in appearance unless they significantly affect function.

Maintenance: Hand wash non-stick pans. Let cool before washing. Do not leave wet. Excessive heat can degrade non-stick coating.

IKEA 365+ Cookware (Pots, Pans, Cookware)

Stainless Steel Cookware:

Tested for daily use. Guarantees function for 15 years with normal domestic use and maintenance.

Covered Products: IKEA 365+ pots (11 qt, 5.3 qt, 3 qt), casserole (2.1 qt), 5-piece set (includes 5.2 qt pot, 2.1 qt casserole, Ø11" pan - pan has 5-year warranty).

Non-Stick Cookware:

[5 years warranty]

Covered Products: IKEA 365+ pans (Ø13", Ø11" non-stick), grill pan (Ø11" non-stick).

Duration: 15 years for uncoated stainless steel, 5 years for non-stick. From purchase date. The original purchase receipt must be presented.

What is Covered: Function, materials, and manufacturing. Will function like new with normal domestic use (cooking/washing once daily).

Coverage includes: Base stability. Dishwasher safe for stainless steel (hand wash non-stick and cast iron). Non-stick properties for 5 years.

Not Covered: Changes in appearance unless they significantly affect function.

Maintenance: Stainless steel can be dishwasher safe; non-stick must be hand washed. Do not use steel wool. Add salt after water boils. Let cool before washing.

IKEA 365+ Knives

[15 years warranty]

Designed for daily use, these knives are guaranteed for 15 years with normal domestic use (cutting, cleaning, regular sharpening).

Covered Products: IKEA 365+ Chef's knife (8”), Utility knife (6”), Paring knife (4”), Bread knife (9”), Utility knife (6”) - all stainless steel.

Duration: 15 years from the purchase date. The original simplified receipt must be presented.

What is Covered: Function, materials, and manufacturing. Knives will function like new. Covers knife sharpness (made of hardened steel, should retain sharpness), durable handle (must not break, crack, or detach), and blade corrosion resistance.

Not Covered: Changes in appearance unless they significantly affect function.

Maintenance: Hand wash and dry immediately. Sharpen weekly. Use ceramic, diamond, or whetstone sharpeners. Professional sharpening may be needed for very dull knives. Avoid cutting frozen/hard foods or bones. Use wood/plastic cutting boards only. Store in a knife block or magnetic strip.
