Cisco Codec EQ Installation Guide
This guide provides instructions for installing and setting up the Cisco Codec EQ, a device designed for video conferencing and collaboration.
Product Overview
The Cisco Codec EQ is a versatile device for modern meeting rooms. It supports various mounting options and connectivity standards.
Components and Mounting Options
The Cisco Codec EQ is available with different accessories and can be mounted in various ways.
Antennas (for radio version)
For the radio version of the Codec EQ, antennas are provided for wireless connectivity.
Mounting Kits
Optional kits are available for different installation scenarios:
- Wall mount kit: Allows the codec to be mounted securely on a wall.
- Rack mount kit: Enables the codec to be installed in a standard equipment rack.
Desk Placement
The codec can also be placed directly on a desk or shelf for simple setup.
Power and Connectivity
Power Requirements
The Cisco Codec EQ operates on 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz. It uses an EL 701B (IEC 60320/C13) power connector. It is crucial to use a compatible power cord to avoid electrical hazards. For specific regions like Argentina, Brazil, China, and Japan, the correct power cord must be ordered with the system. The power cable should be rated for 10A, 250V.
Network Connectivity
Network connectivity can be established via Ethernet LAN or Wi-Fi. Devices with 'NR' in their product identifier (PID) are non-radio versions and do not support Wi-Fi.
Ethernet Ports
The first four Ethernet ports support the PoE++ IEEE802.bt standard, providing up to 90W per port. The total power delivery capability for these four ports combined is also 90W.
Installation Steps
Mounting the Codec
The product must be installed by qualified personnel. The installer is responsible for providing the necessary parts for secure wall mounting due to varying wall constructions. The weight of the codec and wall bracket is approximately 1643g (3.6 lbs).
Wall Mounting
Steps for wall mounting involve attaching brackets to the codec, marking mounting points on the wall, and securing the codec with appropriate screws. Pan head screws with a diameter of Ø4 to Ø5 mm are recommended. Ensure correct screw insertion to avoid damage.
Rack Mounting
The codec can be mounted in a standard equipment rack using the provided rack mount kit. This involves attaching brackets to the codec and then securing them within the rack.
Desk Placement
For desk placement, simply position the codec on a stable surface.
Connecting Antennas (for radio version only)
For the radio version, connect the antennas to the designated ports on the codec. Ensure they are securely attached.
Connecting Cables
Connect the necessary cables to the rear panel of the Cisco Codec EQ. These include power, network (Ethernet), Wi-Fi antennas, Bluetooth antennas, HDMI (inputs and outputs), USB ports, and microphone inputs.
Powering On and Software Setup
After connecting all cables, turn on the codec using the power switch. The system powers up automatically. Once the Welcome screen appears, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the software setup. It is recommended to upgrade the software on your Codec EQ before use. Refer to the Administrator Guide for the codec for detailed instructions.
Specifications and Regulatory Information
Ventilation
Ensure adequate ventilation by maintaining a minimum of 10cm (4 inches) of free space in front of and behind the unit. When mounted in a rack, the ambient temperature should not exceed 35°C.
Regulatory Information
For US and Canada radio versions, FCC and ISED regulatory IDs can be viewed in the Room Navigator's Control Panel under Device settings > Regulatory information.
