Quick Setup
Follow these four simple steps to get started:
Step 1: Turn On
Press the power button to turn on the Manticore detector.
Step 2: Select Search Mode
Choose a search mode tailored to your environment. The available modes are:
- All Terrain: Ideal for areas with high trash density, fields, and historical sites, suitable for general searches.
- Beach: Perfect for all salty conditions, including dry sand, wet sand, surf, and underwater use.
- Goldfield: Designed for prospecting gold nuggets in mineralized goldfields.
If you are unsure which mode to select, the General mode is recommended for your search area.
Step 3: Ground Balance
Perform a ground balance to optimize the detector's performance for the specific soil conditions.
Step 4: Go Search
With setup complete, you are ready to begin detecting.
Assembly
The Manticore features a telescopic shaft for easy assembly and adjustment.
Tighten Camlocks: If the camlocks feel loose or slip, tighten them. Ensure the shaft sections are securely locked before use.
- Open: Loosen the camlock levers.
- Tighten gradually: Adjust the shaft length and then close the camlock levers.
- Close: Securely fasten the camlock levers.
- Check and repeat if necessary: Ensure all connections are firm.
Charging
Charge the Manticore detector before first use.
- Full Charge: Approximately 7-8 hours using a standard USB-A charger.
- Fast Charge: Approximately 3 hours using a USB-C to USB-A cable.
⚠️ Caution: Use a high-quality USB charger with a minimum charging capacity of 2A @ 5V. Using an inferior charger may lead to USB charging errors.
⚠️ Caution: Charge the detector only at ambient temperatures between 0°C and +40°C.
Controls & Display
Familiarize yourself with the Manticore's controls and display elements:
Main Controls:
- Power [power]: Turns the detector on/off.
- Volume ?: Adjusts audio volume.
- Sensitivity [sensitivity]: Adjusts the detector's sensitivity level.
- Back ↩️: Returns to the previous screen or menu.
- Navigation Buttons [navigation buttons] (x4): Used to navigate menus and options.
- Softkeys [softkeys]: Context-sensitive buttons whose functions change based on the current screen or settings.
- Pinpoint [pinpoint]: Activates the pinpoint mode for precise target location.
Settings Menu:
Press the settings button (⚙️) on the detection screen to access the settings menu. Options include:
- General Settings
- Frequency
- Tone Profile
- Target Tones
- Iron Tones
- Iron Thresholds
- Rejection Pattern
- Recovery Speed
- Ground Balance
- Noise Cancel
- Search Mode
- Volume
Display Indicators:
- Charge Status LED ?: Indicates battery charging status.
- Search Mode: Displays the currently active search mode.
- Target ID Number [target ID]: Shows the numerical identification of a detected target.
- Conductive ID [conductivity scale]: Indicates the target's conductivity.
- Iron Indicator [iron indicator]: Helps distinguish iron targets.
- Depth Indicator [depth indicator]: Estimates the depth of the target.
- Battery Level ?: Shows remaining battery power.
- Wireless Audio ?: Indicates wireless audio connection status.
- Light Sensor ?: Adjusts screen brightness automatically.
- Headphone Connectivity ?: Shows headphone connection status.
- Flashlight ?: Activates the built-in flashlight.
ID Card:
The ID Card on the display provides a visual representation of target characteristics:
- Conductivity Scale Target ID: A scale from 0 to 99 representing conductivity.
- Iron Thresholds: Defines the range for iron targets.
- Target Tracking: Visualizes target behavior (e.g., a nail).
- Rejection Pattern: Visualizes how targets are rejected (e.g., a coin).
Product Compliance
