NAVAC NR7 Recovery Unit
User Manual
Important Safety Information:
Failure to follow warnings may result in death or serious injury. Keep this manual for future reference.
General Safety Measures:
- Only use approved refillable refrigerant tanks.
- Do not overfill the recovery tank; fill to a maximum of 80% capacity to allow for liquid expansion. Overfilling can cause a violent explosion.
- Always wear safety glasses and protective gloves when working with refrigerants to protect skin and eyes from gas or liquid refrigerant injuries.
- Do not use this equipment near flammable liquids or gasoline.
- A digital scale is required to prevent overfilling.
- Ensure the work area is well-ventilated.
Notice:
- Ensure the unit is powered by an adequate electrical supply.
- If using an extension cord, it must be at least 14 AWG and no more than 25 feet long to prevent voltage drop and potential compressor damage.
- The unit's input pressure must not exceed 26 bar (377.0 psi).
- The unit must be placed horizontally; otherwise, it may cause unexpected vibrations, noise, or abrasion.
- Do not expose the equipment to prolonged sunlight or rain.
- The unit's ventilation opening must not be obstructed.
- If the overload protector trips, reset it after 5 minutes.
- When performing the self-purge operation, turn the knob slowly to "PURGE" to ensure the input pressure is below 5 bar (72.5 psi).
- If a surge occurs during recovery, turn the knob slowly to the "SLOW" position and do not let the gauge reading drop to zero.
- When selecting the fast mode for recovery, control the output pressure. If the output pressure rapidly increases to 27 bar (391.6 psi), slowly turn to the slow mode and ensure the output pressure does not exceed 35 bar (507.6 psi).
- This equipment is intended for servicing air conditioning and refrigeration systems containing less than 200 lbs of high-pressure refrigerant.
- The tank and hose used must comply with local regulations.
Instructions for Use:
- Connect the power supply. The rocker switch should be in the "-" position. The indicator light will illuminate for 2 seconds and then turn off. Press the "ON" button for more than 0.2s and release to start the device. After a pause of more than 0.5s, press the "OFF" button for more than 0.2s and release to turn off the device. After a pause of more than 2s, press the "ON" button to start the device.
- Do not mix different refrigerants in the same tank, as they cannot be separated or utilized.
- Before recovering refrigerant, the tank must reach a vacuum level of -29.6inHg to purge non-condensable gases. Each tank is filled with nitrogen at the factory; therefore, the nitrogen must be evacuated before first use.
- The knob must be in the "CLOSE" position before operation. All valves must be closed, and the inlet/outlet fittings must be covered with protective caps when the unit is not in use. Air or moisture is detrimental to recovery results and will shorten the unit's lifespan.
- Always use a filter drier and replace it regularly. Each type of refrigerant requires its own filter. Use the specified high-quality filter drier to ensure normal unit operation. A high-quality filter drier will help protect the machine.
- Special caution is needed when recovering from the system, requiring two filter driers.
- The unit has an internal high-pressure protector. If the system pressure exceeds the rated disconnection pressure (see specifications), the compressor will automatically shut off, and the HP CUT indicator will display. To restart the compressor, lower the internal pressure (so the outlet gauge reads less than 35 bar/507.6 PSI). After the HP CUT flashes, press the "START" button to restart the compressor. When high-pressure protection is activated, determine the cause and solution before restarting the unit.
- The refrigerant tank's liquid shut-off valve is closed: opening the valve will help resolve the issue.
- The connection hose between the recovery unit and the refrigerant tank is blocked: close all valves and replace the connection hose.
- The refrigerant tank temperature is too high, causing high pressure; cool the tank.
- The unit is equipped with an O.F.P. port and can be connected to a cylinder with liquid-filled output protection using the O.F.P. connection cable. When the O.F.P. cable is not plugged in, the unit automatically blocks the O.F.P. function.
- When recovering a large amount of liquid refrigerant, it is recommended to use the "push/pull" mode.
- To ensure no refrigerant remains in the equipment after recovery, carefully read the "self-purge" operating procedure in this manual. Residual liquid refrigerant in the condenser can expand and damage components.
- The low-pressure gauge on this unit indicates the compressor inlet pressure, and the high-pressure gauge indicates the outlet pressure.
- After using the equipment, turn the knob back to the "CLOSE" position.
