- Loosen the hand knob of the mount holder and insert the sound module mount.
- Adjust the angle of the TD, and then tighten the hand knob.
Adjust the location at which the KD-10 is installed so that it's at a comfortable position for playing.
Attach the Kick Pedal (KD-10):
Install the kick pedal securely. Position the beater so that it strikes the center of the head. Ensure the base of the KD-10 and the kick pedal both make contact with the floor.
Notes:
- A variety of commercially available beaters can be used (felt, plastic, wood). Felt beaters may leave marks on the striking surface.
- When using a twin pedal, position the two beaters equally apart from the center of the pad. Uneven positioning can lead to lower volume or undesired sound from the further beater. Sensitivity may be lower with twin pedals; raise sensitivity on the sound module as per the TD's owner's manual.
- Take care not to pinch your fingers during installation.
- If pedal attachment bolts become loose, use commercially available tools to tighten them.

For a Left-Handed Setup
The setup described in this guide is for right-handed players. To set up for a left-handed player, reattach the components as follows:
- Exchange curved pipes (L) and (R), and straight pipes (L) and (R), left-for-right.
- Attach holder (C) and the snare pipe to the right side.
- Exchange the pads and cymbals with their attachment mounts left-for-right.
- Exchange the TD with its sound module mount left-for-right.
Connect the cables as shown in the illustration.
Notes:
- After exchanging the curved pipes, attach the holders so that the marks on the pipes are visible through the gaps of the holders.
- Remove the caps, remove holder (C) and the snare pipe, and reattach them to the right side.
Final Check: When you've finished making connections, turn on the power as described in the TD-17/17-L Owner's Manual, and verify that you can hear sound.

Detailed Explanation of Each Part
Adjust the VH-10
When using the VH-10, be sure to adjust the offset on the TD after connection. This adjustment is required to correctly detect open, close, and pedal operations.
01 Adjust the Offset:
- After making the hi-hat settings, release your foot from the pedal. While keeping your foot off the pedal, turn on the power of the TD.
- Loosen the clutch screw and let the hi-hat rest naturally on the motion sensor unit.
- Press the [SETUP] button.
- Use the dial to select "Hi-Hat Settings," and press the [ENTER] button.
- Turn the dial to set the Pad Type to "VH10."
- While watching the meter on the right of the screen, make adjustments by turning the VH offset adjustment screw of the VH-10. Adjust the offset so that the meter indicates the correct state (e.g., OPEN/CLOSE).
- Press the [DRUM KIT] button to return to the KIT screen.
Offset Adjustment Notes:
- If the closed hi-hat sound is difficult to play, turn the VH offset adjustment screw toward "CLOSE."
- If the open hi-hat sound is difficult to play, turn it toward "OPEN."
- If the sound is interrupted when you play a strong strike, adjust the VH offset adjustment screw toward "OPEN."
02 Adjust the Hi-Hat:
- Make adjustments so that the cosmetic part in the lower middle of the hi-hat is 3 mm away from the center tip of the sensor, and then tighten the clutch screw.
- Use the hi-hat stand to adjust the tension of the pedal spring.
Notes:
- The spacing can be adjusted to what you find comfortable, but if it is too narrow or too wide, malfunctions may occur. 3 mm is the spacing for the most natural feel.
- Depending on the stand, pedal spring tension adjustments might not be possible.
- The hi-hat has a correct orientation: the "Roland" logo should be toward the back as seen from the performer for optimal sensitivity.
- Continuous playing may cause pad discoloration, but this will not affect the pad's function.
- If the hi-hat clutch has detached, refer to the owner's manual.
Cable Fixing: Wind cable ties around pipes and cables for secure routing.

KD-10 (Kick)
01 Attach the Kick Pedal:
Position the beater to strike the center of the head. Secure the kick pedal and KD-10 firmly. Ensure both the KD-10 base and the kick pedal make contact with the floor.
Notes:
- Beaters: Various types (felt, plastic, wood) are compatible. Felt may mark the striking surface.
- Twin Pedals: Position beaters equally. Uneven positioning affects volume. Sensitivity may be lower; adjust on the sound module.
- Take care not to pinch fingers.
- If pedal bolts loosen, use tools to tighten them.
03 Adjusting the Anchor Bolts:
Extend anchor bolts for stability on V-Drums mats, noise eaters, or carpet. If needed, adjust them to protrude through the base. Caution: Anchor bolt tips are sharp. Handle with care. Anchor bolts may damage floors; adjust correctly.
Component Names: Head, Mounting plate for kick pedal, OUTPUT jack, Anchor bolts, Slip-prevention tape.
Adjusting the Head Tension:
Adjust tuning bolts evenly, moving from one side to the opposite. The appropriate tension provides a response similar to an acoustic drum. Use the drum key as needed. Do not tighten a single bolt excessively, as this can cause uneven tension and malfunctions.
