Grounding Instructions
- This compressor must be grounded during operation to protect the user from electric shock. The single-phase compressor is equipped with a two-wire cable with an earth conductor.
- It is recommended never to disassemble the compressor or make other connections to the pressure switch. All repairs must be carried out exclusively by the manufacturer or authorized service technicians. Always remember that the earth conductor is "yellow/green".
Extension Cords
- Use only extension cords with plugs and grounding connections; never use a damaged or crushed extension cord. Before use, ensure the extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, also ensure that the cross-section is sufficient for the connected product's power consumption. A thin extension cord can cause a voltage drop, power loss, and excessive heating of the device.
- The extension cord for single-phase compressors must have a cross-section suitable for the cable length.
Notes
- All risks of electric shock must be avoided. Never use the compressor if the power cord or extension cord is damaged. Cables should be checked periodically. Never use the compressor in or near water, or in the vicinity of hazardous environments that could lead to electric shock.
- Avoid temperatures below 0 °C, as this can slow down the motor and prevent it from starting.
Handling
- Place the compressor near the consumer to avoid long air and supply lines.
- Ensure the oil level is correct and the air filter is installed.
Component Identification
The following components are identified on the device:
- 1: Pressure switch
- 2: Quick coupling
- 3: Safety valve
- 4: Pressure regulator
- 5: Manometer (tank pressure)
- 6: Manometer (adjusted pressure)
Pressure Switch Operation
Set the button (1), located on the top of the pressure switch installed on the device, to "OFF". Connect the plug to the power outlet and set the button (1) to "ON". The rubber or spiral hose must be connected to the connection (2) next to the pressure switch.
Attention: Always ensure that compressed air hoses suitable for the compressor's maximum operating pressure are used. Never attempt to repair defective hoses.
The compressor's operation is fully automatic and controlled by a pressure switch. This switch stops the compressor when the maximum pressure in the tank is reached and restarts it when the minimum pressure is reached. Normally, the pressure difference between the maximum and minimum values is approximately 2 bar.
Example: The compressor stops when it reaches 8 bar (maximum operating pressure) and automatically starts when the pressure in the tank has dropped to 6 bar. Check the correct functioning of the pressure switch after connecting the compressor to the power supply by running a load cycle.
Adjusting Working Pressure
It is not always necessary to work with maximum pressure. In most cases, the pneumatic tool used requires lower pressure. For compressors equipped with pressure regulators, correct adjustment of the working pressure is required. To adjust the desired pressure: turn to the right (+) to increase pressure and to the left (–) to decrease it.
Maintenance
Before any intervention on the compressor, ensure that:
- The main switch is in the "OFF" position.
- The pressure switch or power button is set to "OFF".
- The air tank is completely depressurized.
Maintenance Procedures
Water Condensation
Daily drain the water condensation from the compressed air tank. To do this, release the pressure from the compressed air tank, open the drain valve at the bottom of the compressed air tank, and empty the water condensation.
Safety Valve
The safety valve is factory-set to the maximum permissible pressure of the compressed air tank. It is not permitted to remove the seal or adjust the safety valve.
Suction Filter Cleaning
Dirt and dust suction is removed through the suction filter. A dirty suction filter significantly reduces your compressor's power. Therefore, it is necessary to clean the filter after 300 hours of operation. Hold the suction filter with your whole hand and carefully remove it from its holder. Remove the inner filter and wash it with gasoline. Let the filter dry completely before reinserting it. Replace the filter in the housing and apply light pressure. Attention: Risk of burns! Wait until the compressor is completely cool.
Oil
- Drain the oil after the first 10 hours of operation from the crankcase and refill with clean oil. Remove the oil plug from the crankcase (lower left side of the crankcase).
- Attention: SAE 30 or L-DAB 100 above 10°C and SAE 10 or L-DAB 68 below 10°C.
- Drain the oil every 500 operating hours and refill the crankcase with clean oil.
Troubleshooting (Averías)
The following causes could lead to compressor overload and tripping of the overload protection:
- Insufficient air supply
- Leaking non-return valve
- Defective compressor valves
- High connecting rod bearing resistance
- Mains voltage too high
Problem: Air loss from the valve located below the pressure switch.
This defect is due to improper sealing of the check valve or its lines: Check all connections with soapy water to detect any possible leaks.
Problem: The compressor runs but does not charge.
The fault may be caused by a defect in the valves and seals. Check for defects and replace damaged parts.
Problem: The compressor does not start.
If the compressor has difficulty starting, ensure that:
- The mains voltage corresponds to the data on the compressor's nameplate.
- Extension cords not suitable in terms of cross-section or length are not used.
- The operating range is not too cold (below 0 °C).
- The power supply is correct (plug correctly connected, circuit breakers and fuses intact).
Problem: The compressor does not stop running.
If the compressor does not stop when maximum pressure is reached, the tank safety valve will activate. If this happens, contact the manufacturer or an authorized service technician.
