Zodiac MX6 & MX8 Pool Cleaner Quick Start Guide
This guide provides essential steps for setting up and operating your Zodiac MX6 and MX8 pool cleaners.
Important Safety Information
⚠️ RISK OF SUCTION ENTRAPMENT HAZARD: Failure to avoid this can result in serious injury or death. Read this entire manual before installing and operating the cleaner. Ensure your pool's vacuum suction fittings are certified compliant with applicable safety standards, such as IAPMO SPS 4. Do not block suction fittings in the pool, the cleaner's suction opening, or the cleaner hoses with any part of your body. Keep hair, loose clothing, and jewelry away from any suction outlet fittings. Do not operate the cleaner outside the pool. Do not allow children to play with the cleaner.

Quantities vary: Typically one of most components, with multiple hose sections (e.g., 9 hose sections for MX6, 11 for MX8).
Setup Instructions
-
Step 1: Prepare the Pool System
To avoid serious injury, turn off the pool filter pump.
-
Step 2: Clean and Prepare Pool Components
Clean the pool filter, pump basket, and skimmer basket. Close the main drain to the pool. Aim the return line fittings downwards.
-
Step 3: Connect the Cleaner
Connect the cleaner hose to either a pool skimmer (using the skimmer wall fitting, d) or a dedicated suction line (using the suction line connector, h).
-
Step 4: Determine Hose Length
Calculate the required hose length: measure from the farthest point across the pool and add one leader hose (g) section for extra reach.
-
Step 5: Prime and Connect Cleaner
- Submerge the hose and fill it with water, ensuring no air bubbles are visible.
- Submerge the cleaner head (b) and fill it with water, ensuring no air bubbles are visible.
- Connect the cleaner head (b) to the hose.
- Turn on the pool filter pump.
Flow Adjustment and Operation
-
Step 6: Check Cleaner Flow
Observe the yellow wheel marker on the cleaner. Use a stopwatch to time 10 wheel rotations. If the wheels change direction during timing, restart the process.
Good Flow: 20-25 seconds for 10 rotations. ?
-
Step 7: Adjust Flow if Necessary
If the cleaner's performance is not optimal, adjust the flow. Use the FlowKeeper™ valve (f) at the skimmer or adjust the suction valves at the equipment pad.
- Poor Performance: 10 rotations in 26-50 seconds. ? Increase Flow.
- Possible Damage: 10 rotations in 10-19 seconds. ❌ Decrease Flow.
Storage
Step 8: Storage
When not in use, store the cleaner out of the water, resting on its side. ⚙️
