This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the installation of the SALTO XS4 Original+ electronic lock system for doors with DIN fastening holes.
Product Overview and Components
The SALTO XS4 Original+ is designed for DIN fastening holes doors. The installation requires specific tools and components, including:
- ALLEN 4 (x4)
- TORX 20 (x1)
- TORX 20 (x2)
- TORX 20 (x2)
- ALLEN 3 (x2)
- BOLT (Depending on door thickness)
Important Note: The mortise lock is not included with the unit.
The installation process involves selecting the correct handing for the door and ensuring proper alignment with the mortise lock. The guide illustrates the process for both ROSE plates and SHORT plates, specifying minimum drilling diameters (Ø25 Min.).
SALTO recommends using a mortise lock with a maximum 4° pre-turn for optimal performance.
Installation Steps
The installation is divided into several key steps, visually represented in the diagrams:
- Step 1: Prepare the door and mortise lock. Ensure correct drilling according to DIN standards for either ROSE or SHORT plates.
- Step 2: Select the correct handing (left or right) for the door handle.
- Step 3: Attach the exterior handle and escutcheon.

- Step 5: Install the batteries (LR03).
- Step 6: Mount the interior escutcheon and handle.
- Step 7: Connect the internal components and secure the unit.

Important Precaution: At no point during the installation should the door be closed before the lock is programmed. Refer to the user manual for programming instructions.
Battery Replacement
To replace the batteries:
- Open the interior handle mechanism.
- Remove the old batteries.
- Insert new LR03 batteries, observing the correct polarity.
- The maximum recommended battery life is 40 months.
