IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Your Display is designed and manufactured to operate within defined design limits. Misuse may result in electric shock or fire. To prevent your Display from being damaged, follow these instructions for installation, use, and maintenance. Keep these instructions for future reference.

VIZIO SmartCast™ Easy Setup

Choose how to set up your SmartCast™ Display:

Complete Setup with the VIZIO SmartCast™ App (Recommended)

Download the free VIZIO SmartCast™ App on your smartphone or tablet to set up your VIZIO display. Use your phone to power on your display, adjust volume, switch inputs, and control streaming content from your iOS or Android device.

Complete Setup with IR Remote

Use the included IR remote to manually set up your display. The VIZIO SmartCast™ App is still VIZIO's recommended setup method. Note that a mobile device (not included) is still required to cast content from apps like Netflix and YouTube.

VIZIO SmartCast™ Easy Setup Steps

1. Download the VIZIO SmartCast™ App

Go to http://www.vizio.com/smartcastapp to get started.

Note: A mobile device (Android™ 4.4+ or iOS 8.0+) and the VIZIO SmartCast™ App are required for setup. Chromecast-enabled apps may require subscriptions and availability may vary by region. Mobile device not included.

2. Plug in your Display

Plug your Display into a power outlet and turn it on.

3. Pair Your Mobile Device to Your Display

Open the VIZIO SmartCast™ App on your mobile device and follow the on-screen instructions to pair it with your Display. The app allows control of M-Series settings, browsing content, powering on/off, adjusting volume, switching inputs, and casting content.

iOS Device Pairing

After opening the VIZIO SmartCast™ App:

  1. Select 'Get Started'.
  2. Hold your mobile device next to the VIZIO logo on your Display.

Follow the remaining steps to complete setup.

Android Device Pairing

Note the Wi-Fi setup name on the top corner of your Display. After opening the VIZIO SmartCast™ App:

  1. Select 'Get Started' and your preferred language.
  2. Select your Display name from the list shown on your device.

Follow the remaining steps to complete setup.

4. Connect to Wi-Fi

Select your home Wi-Fi network and enter your password.

5. Name Your Display

Locate your Display to name it or use a custom name. Naming helps differentiate it from other cast devices.

IR Remote Easy Setup

1. Press OK on Your IR Remote

Press the OK/Play key on your IR remote during the initial setup screen. The VIZIO SmartCast™ App and a mobile device are recommended for casting content. The app allows control of M-Series settings, browsing content, powering on/off, adjusting volume, switching inputs, and casting content.

Refer to page 7 for instructions on setting up with the VIZIO SmartCast™ App and a mobile device.

2. Follow the On-Screen Instructions

Use the Arrow Keys and OK/Play button to select and confirm settings to complete setup.

Using the VIZIO SmartCast™ App

Account Setup

To take full advantage of VIZIO SmartCast™, you will need to log in. If you don't have an account, you can sign up for free. A VIZIO SmartCast™ account connects subscriptions and manages content in one place.

  1. Open the VIZIO SmartCast™ App.
  2. Tap the 'Create an Account' button or 'Sign In' to log into your account.

Selecting Quick Start Mode and Calibrated Picture Mode

Your Display defaults to Eco Mode, which uses less than 0.5W when powered off. Changing this setting affects energy consumption.

Quick Start Mode: Enables faster power-on and automatic power-on when casting. The app may prompt you to switch to this mode during initial setup. You can change this setting later via Settings > System > Power Mode > Quick Start.

Calibrated Picture Mode: Provides the most accurate picture quality for most environments. Customizing picture settings affects energy consumption. The app may prompt you to switch to this mode during initial setup. You can change this setting later via Settings > Picture > Picture Mode > Calibrated.

Pairing Additional Devices

To pair additional smart phones or tablets for controlling your Display:

  1. On the new device, download and install the VIZIO SmartCast™ App.
  2. Ensure your Display is powered on.
  3. On the VIZIO SmartCast™ App, tap the menu icon [☰] in the top left corner to open the side menu.
  4. Tap 'Setup a new Device' from the list.
  5. Tap 'Get Started' on the following page.

Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your device.

Basic SmartCast™ Remote Control Functions

You can control power, input, mute, and volume directly from the VIZIO SmartCast™ App. Ensure your Display is selected in the app.

To download the manual:

  1. Go to support.vizio.com.
  2. Type your Display's model number into the search bar and select 'Model Information'.
  3. Download the User Manual by selecting 'Download'.

What is Chromecast?

Chromecast is a technology that allows you to cast your favorite entertainment and apps from your device to your Display. Access over 200,000 TV shows and movies from mobile apps. Simply tap the Cast button on your favorite mobile apps to watch content from your mobile screen on the big screen.

How to Cast Content

Streaming content is as simple as tapping an icon on your favorite app.

  1. Open a cast-enabled app, such as Netflix.
  2. Choose content and tap the Cast button [⛶], then select your Display.
  3. Press the play button to begin watching.

IR Remote

Your new M-Series™ Display includes an IR remote. Key functions include:

Inserting and Replacing Batteries

Two AAA alkaline batteries are included for the remote control.

To insert/replace batteries:

  1. Find the notch on the back of the remote. Insert a coin and pry open the back cover.
  2. Remove the back cover and insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and - signs).

VIZIO supports proper battery handling and disposal. Visit duracell.com for more information.

WARNING: Keep batteries away from children. Mishandling can cause choking, fire, or chemical burns. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. Replace only with the correct type.

VIZIO recommends Duracell AAA alkaline batteries for replacement.

Connecting your Devices

Connect all video or entertainment source devices to the Display. Choose ONE connection type per device.

HDMI 2-4: 340MHz pixel clock rate: 2160@60fps 4:2:0 8 bit.

ARC available only on HDMI 1.

For the best experience, VIZIO recommends using an Ethernet cable. The Display also has built-in Wi-Fi.

Connecting to External Audio Speaker

Your Display can output sound to an external audio source, such as a receiver or sound bar.

To connect:

  1. Verify your external audio speaker has a matching audio input (e.g., HDMI, 3.5mm). Note: HDMI connections must use the HDMI-ARC port.
  2. Turn both the Display and external audio speaker off.
  3. Connect the appropriate cable (not included).
  4. Turn both devices on.

Connection Types:

By using your VIZIO product, you agree to be bound by this warranty. Read it carefully. If you do not agree, return the product within 30 days of purchase for a refund.

This warranty includes a binding arbitration agreement and class action waiver for U.S. residents, which affect your rights. Please read the relevant section carefully.

VIZIO warrants the product against defects in materials and workmanship when used normally per user guides. This warranty applies only to the original purchaser of a new product bought from an authorized retailer in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) or Canada, and the product must be located in the country of purchase during service.

May apply to select new product purchases. Check www.vizio.com, the product box, or contact VIZIO Technical Support for details.

Your Obligations Before Service:

Note: All user data and downloaded applications will be deleted during in-home or ship-in warranty service. You are responsible for restoring your data. VIZIO recommends clearing all personal information before service.

VIZIO's Responsibilities:

VIZIO will repair or replace the product, or refund the purchase price, at its option, at no charge for parts or labor during the warranty period. Replacement parts may be new or recertified.

What This Warranty Does Not Cover:

Cosmetic damage, normal wear and tear, improper operation, improper voltage supply, signal issues, shipping damage, acts of God, customer misuse, unauthorized modifications/adjustments, installation/setup/repairs by non-authorized personnel, unreadable serial numbers, products requiring routine maintenance, or products sold "AS IS", "CLEARANCE", "FACTORY RECERTIFIED", or by non-authorized resellers.

What to Do If You Are Not Satisfied With Service:

Attempt to resolve issues informally with VIZIO. If unresolved, U.S. residents must submit claims to binding arbitration as described below, unless an exception applies. Arbitration means your claim is heard by a neutral arbitrator, not a judge or jury.

Binding Arbitration Agreement; Class Action Waiver (U.S. Residents Only):

Any controversy or claim relating to your VIZIO product or this warranty will be settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) according to its Commercial Arbitration Rules and Supplementary Procedures for Consumer-Related Disputes. You can learn more at www.adr.org. The Federal Arbitration Act applies. Filing fees are shared, with VIZIO covering additional administrative fees if your fees exceed the AAA allowable amount. VIZIO waives its right to recover attorneys' fees in arbitration. If you are the prevailing party, you may recover attorneys' fees as determined by the arbitrator. Disputes are governed by the laws of your state/territory of residence. Arbitration location is Irvine, California, or your county of residence. The arbitrator cannot award punitive or consequential damages beyond actual damages. Awards are limited to monetary damages. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court. Arbitration details must remain confidential unless written consent is given. All disputes must be conducted on an individual basis; class actions, private attorney general actions, or representative proceedings are prohibited. Arbitration proceedings cannot be joined or consolidated without prior written consent of all parties.

Exceptions to Binding Arbitration Agreement and Class Action Waiver:

To opt out, notify VIZIO in writing within sixty (60) days of purchase, mailed to VIZIO at 39 Tesla, Irvine, CA 92618, Attn: Legal Department, including your name, address, purchase date, and a clear statement of opt-out. You may also pursue claims in small claims court in your county of residence or Orange County, California.

Exclusions and Limitations:

No express warranties beyond those described. Implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose) are limited to the warranty period. VIZIO is not responsible for loss of use, data, commercial loss, lost revenue, lost profits, or indirect/special/incidental/consequential damages, even if advised of the possibility. Some states/provinces do not allow these limitations.

How the Law Applies:

This warranty grants specific legal rights, which may vary by state/province. It applies to the greatest extent permitted by law.

General:

No employee or agent may modify this warranty. If any term (except class action waiver) is unenforceable, it will be severed, and other terms remain in effect. If the class action waiver is unenforceable, that entire section is void. This warranty applies to the maximum extent not prohibited by law.

Changes to Warranty:

This warranty may change without notice, but changes do not affect your original warranty. Check www.vizio.com for the most current version.
