Assembly Instructions
Before you begin, ensure you have the necessary tools. A screwdriver ? is typically required for assembly.
Step 1: Attach Casters to Base
Insert the five casters (10092276, 10092306, 10092307, 10092308) into the legs of the star-shaped base. You will hear a "Click!" when they are properly seated. Ensure the casters are inserted correctly to prevent them from falling out.
Step 2: Install Gas Lift Cylinder
Place the star base upright. Insert the gas lift cylinder into the central opening of the base. It should fit snugly.
Step 3: Attach Seat Mechanism to Seat
Turn the seat upside down. Align the chair mechanism with the pre-drilled holes on the underside of the seat. Secure the mechanism using the provided screws (e.g., 10005843, 122134) and the Allen key (124345). Ensure all screws are tightened securely.
Step 4: Connect Tilt Mechanism Cable
Locate the tilt mechanism cable extending from the seat mechanism. Plug this cable into the corresponding port on the mechanism itself. This connection enables the tilt functionality.
Step 5: Attach Armrests to Seat
Align the armrests with the mounting points on the sides of the seat. Secure each armrest using the provided screws (e.g., 159026, 122900). Tighten with the Allen key.
Step 6: Mount Seat Assembly onto Gas Lift
Carefully lift the assembled seat and mechanism. Align the central opening of the mechanism with the top of the gas lift cylinder. Lower the seat assembly onto the cylinder until it is securely seated.
Step 7: Attach Backrest to Seat Mechanism
Slide the backrest assembly into the designated slots on the rear of the seat mechanism. Ensure it is properly aligned and secure.
Step 8: Attach Headrest to Backrest
Attach the headrest to the top of the backrest. This typically involves inserting a post and securing it with a screw (e.g., 10068253, 10039501) using the Allen key.
Step 9: Attach Armrests to Backrest Support
Align the armrests with the mounting points on the sides of the backrest support structure. Secure them with the provided screws.
Step 10: Final Armrest Attachment
Ensure the armrests are correctly positioned and secured to both the seat and the backrest support structure using the remaining screws.

Usage and Adjustments
The STYRSPEL chair offers several adjustment options for personalized comfort.
Seat Height Adjustment: Locate the lever beneath the seat. Pull the lever up to raise the seat, or push down on the seat while the lever is engaged to lower it. Release the lever to lock the height.
Seat Depth Adjustment: Some models may feature seat depth adjustment. Look for a lever or knob under the seat that allows you to slide the seat forward or backward to find your preferred depth.
Tilt and Tilt Lock: The chair may have a tilt function. A lever, often located under the seat, can be used to engage or disengage the tilt lock, allowing you to recline or keep the chair in an upright position.
Backrest Adjustment: The backrest can typically be adjusted for height and angle. Use the controls provided, often levers or knobs on the side or rear of the seat mechanism, to customize the backrest position.
Armrest Adjustment: Armrests can usually be adjusted in height, depth, and pivot. Look for buttons or levers on the armrests themselves to make these adjustments.
Safety Information
Safety Castors
The IKEA STYRSPEL chair is equipped with safety castors. These castors automatically brake when no one is sitting in the chair. This feature prevents the chair from rolling away unintentionally when you stand up, ensuring it remains in place where you left it.
