Set up the Floodlight Cam

To set up your Floodlight Cam:

Important: Ensure the Wi-Fi signal strength is strong at the intended installation location for streaming video from the Floodlight Cam.

Safety Warning: ⚠️ To avoid risk of shock, injury, or death, always be cautious when working with electricity. If you are uncomfortable working with electrical wiring, hire a professional electrician.

Mount Floodlight Cam Outdoors

Step 1: Unplug Floodlight Cam

Disconnect the Floodlight Cam from its power source.

Step 2: Prepare for Mounting

Unscrew the power cord; the wire nuts will be used later. The power cord is not required for outdoor mounting.

Step 3: Shut Down Power

Shut down the circuit breaker that controls the power to the junction box where you will install the Floodlight Cam. Switch the lights on and off to confirm the electricity is properly shut off.

Safety Warning: ⚠️ To avoid risk of shock, injury, or death, always be cautious when working with electricity. If you are uncomfortable working with electrical wiring, hire a professional electrician.

Step 4: Install Mounting Plate

Remove any existing floodlight fixture from the junction box. Install the new mounting plate to the junction box. The junction box and existing electrical wires are required for installation.

Ensure the concaved side of the mounting plate faces outwards.

[Diagram: An electrical junction box with an old fixture removed, and a new mounting plate being attached. Shows the orientation of the mounting plate.]

Step 5: Select Installation Method

You can hang the Floodlight Cam upside down or install it vertically on the wall. Select the method that best suits your junction box position.

[Diagram: Two mounting options shown: "Wall Mount" and "Eave Mount".]

Step 6: Hang Floodlight Cam

Hang the Floodlight Cam onto the junction box using the provided hook.

[Diagram: Floodlight Cam being hung on the mounting plate using a hook.]

Step 7: Connect Wiring

Ground Wire: Connect the ground wires (yellow or green) from the junction box and the Floodlight Cam using a wire nut. If the existing ground wire is connected to the junction box or there is no ground wire, connect the Floodlight Cam's ground wire directly to the junction box or mounting plate.

[Diagram: Shows connecting the ground wires together with a wire nut.]

Power Wires: Use wire nuts to connect the Floodlight Cam wires to the wires from the junction box. Connect the white wire (neutral) on the Floodlight Cam to the white wire from the junction box. Connect the black wire (hot) on the Floodlight Cam to the black wire from the junction box.

[Diagram: Shows connecting the white (neutral) and black (hot) wires using wire nuts.]

Safety Warning: ⚠️ To avoid risk of shock, injury, or death, always be cautious when working with electricity. If you are uncomfortable working with electrical wiring, hire a professional electrician.

Step 8: Secure and Adjust

Insert the central screw through the center of the Floodlight Cam and screw it tightly. Use the central screw cap to cover the central screw to prevent rusting.

[Diagram: Shows inserting the central screw and then placing the screw cap over it.]

After installation, adjust the camera knobs on the Floodlight Cam to set your desired viewing angle.

Step 9: Power Up and Check

Switch on the main circuit breaker in your house.

Check if the Floodlight Cam is operating by verifying if the LED indicator has turned solid white.

Troubleshooting:

  • No Power: If the Floodlight Cam is not powered on, switch off the circuit breaker before checking the wiring.
  • Red Blinking LED: If the Floodlight Cam keeps blinking red, it indicates it is not connected to the Internet. Ensure the Wi-Fi signal is strong at the installation location. Consider moving your wireless router closer to the Floodlight Cam or using a Wi-Fi range extender.

For further troubleshooting, check the Help section in the Eufy Security app. Refer to the app for explanations of LED indicator status lights.
