Diagram 1: Shows the disassembled components of the Dr. Brown's Baby's First Straw Cup: the cup body, the lid with straw opening, a two-part straw assembly including a weighted ball at the bottom, and a wire cleaning brush.
Diagram 2: Illustrates the assembly of the straw into the lid. The straw is shown being pulled upwards through the lid until it securely snaps into place, indicated by the visible rubber collar around the straw base where it meets the lid.
Diagram 3: Demonstrates the final step of securing the lid onto the cup. The lid, with or without optional handles attached, is shown being screwed tightly onto the filled cup.

Before First and Each Use

  • Before first use, fully disassemble all parts, wash the product, and then place the components in boiling water for five minutes to ensure hygiene.
  • To prevent a possible choking hazard, pull on the straw in all directions before each use to ensure it does not tear.
  • Inspect carefully, especially when the child develops teeth.
  • Discontinue use and replace the straw immediately if any signs of wear or damage are visible, such as cracking or change of shape. Small pieces can accidentally be inhaled and cause serious injury.

Cleaning

  • All parts are safe for use in a dishwasher (top rack only), electric sterilizer, or boiling water.
  • Be sure to remove the wire cleaning brush from the cup before cleaning.
  • Do not microwave the wire cleaning brush or the part of the straw that includes the weighted ball, as it contains metal.
  • Remaining parts are safe for use in a microwave sterilizer.
  • Avoid overly aggressive cleaning of any parts to prevent damage to sealing surfaces.
  • The soft silicone straw can be thoroughly cleaned using the included wire brush, making it easy to access all openings.

Assembly & Use

  • Assemble both straw pieces firmly together.
  • Pull the straw through the lid until it snaps into place. The rubber collar should be visible when the straw is snapped in place. The straw is not in place if no rubber collar is visible.
  • If your cup has removable handles, assemble handles with the cap before tightening onto the cup. Connect notches in handles with the structure under the cap.
  • Fill the cup and tightly screw the cap, with or without handles, onto the cup.
  • Always use the cup with the straw installed. The cup will not function properly without it.

For Your Child's Safety and Health ⚠️

  • Continuous and prolonged sucking of fluids will cause tooth decay.
  • Always check food temperature before feeding.
  • Discard the product at the first sign of damage or weakness.
  • Keep components not in use out of the reach of children.
  • Never attach to cords, ribbons, laces, or loose parts of clothing. The child can be strangled.
  • Never use the straw as a pacifier/soother.
  • Always use this product with adult supervision.
  • Hot or carbonated liquids are not recommended.
  • Do not use a microwave oven to heat the cup, as microwave ovens can create hotspots in the cup, contents, and/or components.
  • Do not leave the straw in direct sunlight or heat, or leave in disinfectant (sterilizing solution) for longer than recommended, as this may weaken the straw.
  • Do not allow a child to walk or run while using any cup.
  • Straws are not suitable for a child under six months.
  • Do not let a child take a cup to bed or self-feed for long periods.
