Troubleshooting

This section addresses common problems and their solutions.

Problem Cause/Solution
System does not restart. Cause: Built-in three-minute delay to prevent compressor cycling.
Solution: Wait three minutes for the delay to expire.
Indoor unit emits unpleasant odor when started. Cause: Mold or mildew on coil surfaces or air filter.
Solution: Wash air filter with warm water and mild cleaner. If odor persists, contact a service professional to clean coils.
You hear a "water flowing" sound. Cause: Normal sounds from refrigerant pressures equalizing.
Solution: Noise should stop after two to three minutes.
A thin fog or vapor coming out of the indoor unit when system is running. Cause: Normal when cooling extremely humid warm air.
Solution: Fog/vapor will disappear as the system cools and dehumidifies.
You hear a slight cracking sound when the system stops or starts. Cause: Normal sounds from parts expanding/contracting.
Solution: Noise will discontinue as temperature equalizes (2-3 minutes).
The system will not run. Cause: Various reasons.
Solution: Check circuit breaker, remote power, battery level, or if remote is in sleep/timer mode. Contact a service professional if issues persist.
The unit is not heating or cooling adequately. Cause: Various reasons.
Solution: Remove airflow obstructions, clean air filter, seal doors/windows, or relocate heat sources.
Water leakage from the outdoor unit. Cause: Normal condensate generation in reverse cycle heating/defrost mode.
Solution: This is normal; no action required.
Water leaking from the indoor unit into the room. Cause: Condensate not draining properly.
Solution: Ensure indoor unit is level. Check for restricted/plugged drain pipe. Contact a service professional if problem persists.
Wireless remote controller does not work. Cause: Possible reasons.
Solution: Check batteries. Ensure remote is within 25 ft. (7.5 m) and unobstructed. Use Aux button as a temporary measure. Contact service professional for replacement.
The unit will not deliver air. Cause: System functions preventing airflow.
Solution: Check for heating mode delay, defrost cycle in heat mode, or dry mode compressor off delay. Contact a service professional if issues persist.
Moisture or condensation on the discharge air louvers or outlet vents. Cause: Normal when cooling warm humid air for extended periods.
Solution: Condensation will disappear as the system cools and dehumidifies.

⚠️ CAUTION: Stop operation and call for service in the following circumstances:

  • Harsh or unusual sound during operation.
  • Unusually foul odor emitted during operation.
  • Water leaking in the room.
  • Burning smell or smoke observed.
  • Circuit breaker trips frequently, or unit stops abnormally often.

Care and Cleaning

⚠️ WARNING: Before cleaning, ensure the unit is turned off and disconnected from the main power supply to avoid electric shock or injury. Do not wash the unit with water. Use a stable platform during cleaning.

Front Panel Cleaning:

Wash the front panel using warm water and mild detergent with a soft cloth or soft brush. Do not use bleach, abrasives, or water above 110°F (45°C) to prevent discoloration or damage.

Air Filter Cleaning:

Regular air filter cleaning prevents problems and maintains unit performance and longevity. It is recommended to clean filters every three (3) months.

To Access and Clean the Filter:

  1. Open Front Panel: Grasp both sides of the front panel and pull upward to about a 60-degree angle.
  2. Remove Filter: Remove the filter as shown in the diagram (describe as "[Diagram showing filter removal]").
  3. Clean Filter: Use a vacuum to clean the filter. For very dirty filters, use warm water (below 110°F), then dry the filter before replacing.
  4. Reinstall Filter: Reinstall the filter and close the panel cover securely.

Energy Saving Tips

  1. Reduce Setpoint at Night: Use Sleep Mode to gradually adjust room temperature during nighttime hours to save energy.
  2. Curtains and Shades: In summer, close curtains/shades on south and west sides to block solar heat. In winter, open them to allow solar heat in.
  3. Close Doors: Confine heating/cooling to one room by closing doors if not heating/cooling the whole home.
  4. Service the Unit: Hose off the outdoor unit, especially in treed areas, to remove debris that can reduce efficiency by up to 15%.
  5. Rearrange the Room: Remove furniture or obstacles blocking airflow to ensure efficient heating and cooling of living space.
  6. Try 75 Degrees: 75°F is optimal for AC performance. A 5-degree change can increase energy use by up to 40%.
  7. Lighting: Turn off lights as they generate heat, requiring the air conditioner to work harder.
  8. Is Anyone Home?: If away, set the unit to Auto mode and close windows/curtains. The unit will quickly return the room to the desired temperature upon return.
  9. Don't Forget the Fan: Use a lower, quiet fan speed when possible, as higher speeds consume more energy.
