Definitions of hypertension by blood pressure level at the office and at home:

CategoryOffice BP (Systolic / Diastolic)Home BP (Systolic / Diastolic)
Hypertension≥ 140 mmHg / ≥ 90 mmHg≥ 135 mmHg / ≥ 85 mmHg

*Note: These are general guidelines. Consult your doctor for personalized targets.

Warning: NEVER self-diagnose or self-treat based on your readings. ALWAYS consult a doctor.

2. Preparation

2.1 Installing Batteries

  1. Press down the battery cover hook and pull upwards.
  2. Insert 4 "AA" batteries as indicated in the battery compartment.
  3. Close the battery cover.

Note: The " " symbol flashing on the display suggests replacing batteries. To replace, turn off the monitor and remove all batteries. Replace with 4 new batteries simultaneously. Replacing batteries does not erase previous readings. The provided batteries may have a shorter life than new ones. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.

2.2 Blood Pressure Measurement Tips
To ensure accurate readings:

  • Stress increases blood pressure. Avoid measuring when stressed.
  • Measurements should be taken in a quiet place.
  • Measure at the same time each day. Morning and evening measurements are recommended.
  • Record your blood pressure and pulse readings for your doctor. A single measurement does not indicate your true blood pressure; multiple readings over time are needed.
  • Avoid bathing, drinking alcohol/caffeine, smoking, exercising, and eating for at least 30 minutes before measurement.
  • Rest for at least 5 minutes before measurement.

2.3 Wearing the Cuff

Note: Steps are for the left arm. For the right arm, follow instructions in "To take a measurement on your right arm". Blood pressure can differ between arms; OMRON recommends using the same arm for measurements. If readings differ substantially, consult your doctor.

  • Remove tight or thick clothing from your arm.
  • Attach the cuff to your monitor by securely inserting the air plug into the air hose port until it clicks. ?
  • Place your hand through the cuff loop. Pull the cuff up to your left upper arm. The bottom edge of the cuff should be 1 to 2 cm above the inner elbow. The air hose should be on the inner side of your arm and aligned with your middle finger.
  • Ensure the air hose is positioned on the inner side of your arm and tighten the cuff so it is snug but not too tight.

To take a measurement on your right arm: When measuring on the right arm, the air hose should be on the side of your elbow. Be careful not to rest your arm on the air hose.

2.4 Correct Sitting Posture
To take a measurement, relax and sit comfortably in a room with a comfortable temperature. Rest your arm on a table.

  • Sit in a comfortable chair with your back and arm supported.
  • Keep your feet flat on the floor and do not cross them.
  • The cuff should be worn on your arm at heart level, with your arm resting comfortably on the table.
