Intended Use: This device is a digital monitor intended for use in measuring blood pressure and pulse rate on adult patient populations. The monitor detects the occurrence of irregular heartbeats during measurement and displays an icon with the measurement results. This device is primarily intended for household use.

Read the Important Safety Information in this instruction manual before using the monitor. Follow this instruction manual thoroughly for your safety. Keep it for future reference. For more information about your blood pressure, CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR.

Unpack the monitor and check for damage. If the monitor is damaged, DO NOT USE and consult your local OMRON representative.

General Precautions:

• Do not use this monitor on infants, toddlers, children, or persons who cannot express themselves.
• Do not administer medication based on readings from this blood pressure monitor. Take medication as prescribed by your doctor. ONLY a doctor is qualified to diagnose and treat high blood pressure.
• Do not use this monitor on an injured arm or an arm under medical treatment.
• Do not apply the arm cuff over clothing or if the clothing is thick or tight.
• Do not use this monitor in areas containing high-frequency (HF) surgical equipment, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment, and computed tomography (CT) scanners. This may result in malfunction of the monitor and/or cause inaccurate readings.
• Do not use this monitor in an oxygen-rich environment or near flammable gas.
• Consult your doctor before using this monitor if you have an arrhythmia, such as premature atrial or ventricular beats or atrial fibrillation; arteriosclerosis; poor perfusion; diabetes; pregnancy; pre-eclampsia; or kidney disease. NOTE that any of these conditions besides patient motion, trembling, or shivering, may affect the measurement reading.
• NEVER diagnose or treat yourself based on your readings. ALWAYS consult your doctor.
• To help avoid suffocation, keep the air tube and AC adapter away from infants, toddlers, and children.
• This product contains small parts which may cause a choking hazard if swallowed by infants, toddlers, and children.
• Do not use this monitor on an arm with an access or therapy in situ, or an arteriovenous (A-V) shunt, because this will interfere with blood flow and may cause injury.
• Consult your doctor before using this monitor if you have had a mastectomy.
• Consult your doctor before using this monitor if you have severe blood flow problems or blood disorders as cuff inflation may cause bruising.
• Do not take measurements too frequently as this may cause bruising due to interference with blood flow.
• ONLY inflate the arm cuff when it is applied to your upper arm.
• Remove the arm cuff if it does not start deflating during measurement.
• Do not use this monitor for any purpose other than measuring blood pressure.
• During measurement, ensure no mobile phones or other electrical devices emitting an electromagnetic field are within 30 cm of this monitor as it may result in malfunction or inaccurate readings.
• Do not disassemble or attempt to repair this monitor or any other components as it may cause inaccurate readings.
• Do not use in damp locations or where there is a risk of splashing water onto this monitor as it may damage it.
• Do not use this monitor in a moving vehicle, such as in a car or airplane.
• Do not drop or subject this monitor to strong shock or vibration.
• Do not use this monitor in locations with high or low humidity or high or low temperatures. Refer to chapter 11.
• During measurement, observe your arm to ensure that the monitor is not causing prolonged disruption of blood circulation.
• Do not use this monitor in frequently used locations, such as a medical clinic or doctor's office.
• Do not use this monitor concurrently with other medical electrical equipment. This may result in malfunction of the devices and/or cause inaccurate readings.
• Avoid bathing, drinking alcohol or caffeine, smoking, exercising, and eating for at least 30 minutes before taking a measurement.
• Rest for at least 5 minutes before taking a measurement.
• Remove any tight or thick clothing from your arm when taking a measurement.
• Remain still and DO NOT TALK during measurement.
• ONLY use the arm cuff on a person whose arm circumference falls within the specified cuff range.
• Ensure that this monitor has adjusted to room temperature before taking a measurement. Taking a measurement after extreme temperature changes may result in inaccurate readings. OMRON recommends waiting approximately 2 hours for the monitor to warm up or cool down when the monitor is used in an environment within the specified temperature as a condition of operation after storage in either the maximum or minimum storage temperature. For additional information regarding operating and storage/transport temperatures, refer to chapter 11.
• DO NOT use this monitor after its shelf life has expired. Refer to chapter 11.
• DO NOT fold the arm cuff or air tube excessively.
• DO NOT fold or kink the air tube during measurement. This may cause injury by disrupting blood flow.
• To disconnect the air plug, pull the plastic air plug at the base of the tube, not the tube itself.
• ONLY use the AC adapter, arm cuff, batteries, and accessories specified for this monitor. Use of AC adapters, arm cuffs, and batteries that do not support this monitor may damage and/or endanger the monitor.
• ONLY use an arm cuff approved for this monitor. Use of other arm cuffs may result in incorrect readings.
• Inflating to an excessive pressure may cause bruising on the arm where the cuff is placed. NOTE: refer to “If your systolic pressure is over 210 mmHg” in chapter 3 of this instruction manual for additional information.

Data Transmission:

• DO NOT replace batteries or unplug the AC adapter while readings are being transferred to a smart electronic device as it may result in monitor malfunction and failure to transfer blood pressure data.

Handling and Use of AC Adapter (optional accessory):

• Insert the AC adapter fully into the power outlet.
• When unplugging the AC adapter from the power outlet, make sure you unplug it safely from the AC adapter. DO NOT unplug from the AC adapter cable.
• When handling the AC adapter cable:
  • DO NOT damage it.
  • DO NOT break it.
  • DO NOT tamper with it.
  • DO NOT pinch it.
  • DO NOT bend or forcibly unplug it.
  • DO NOT twist it.
  • DO NOT use it if it is bundled together.
  • DO NOT place it under heavy objects.
• Clean dust from the AC adapter.
• Unplug the AC adapter when not in use.
• Unplug the AC adapter before cleaning the monitor.

Handling and Use of Batteries:

• DO NOT insert batteries with incorrect polarity alignment.
• ONLY use 4 “AA” alkaline or manganese batteries for this monitor. DO NOT use any other type of batteries. DO NOT use new and used batteries together. DO NOT use different battery brands together.
• Remove the batteries if this monitor will not be used for an extended period.
• If battery fluid gets into your eyes, rinse immediately with clean water. Consult your doctor immediately.
• If battery fluid gets onto your skin, wash your skin immediately with clean, warm water. If irritation, injury, or prolonged pain occurs, consult your doctor.

1.3 Display and Symbols

OK Symbol: Flashes when your monitor is successfully connected to your smart electronic device.

Bluetooth ON Symbol: Appears when your readings are being transferred.

Bluetooth OFF Symbol: Appears when Bluetooth is deactivated.

Cuff Wrapping Guide (OK) Symbol: Appears if the arm cuff is wrapped correctly around the arm during measurement and when viewing previous readings.

Cuff Wrapping Guide (Loose) Symbol: Appears if the arm cuff is not wrapped correctly around the arm during measurement and when viewing previous readings.

Sync Symbol: Flashes/appears when your data needs to be transferred because the stored memory is nearly or completely full. Once you have paired the monitor with a smart electronic device, transfer your readings immediately before the monitor deletes old readings. The monitor’s internal memory can store up to 14 readings.

Memory Symbol: Appears when viewing readings stored in memory.

Hypertension Symbol: Appears if your systolic blood pressure is 135 mmHg or higher and/or your diastolic blood pressure is 85 mmHg or higher.

Movement Error Symbol: Appears along with your reading when your body moves during measurement. If it appears, remove the arm cuff and wait for 2 to 3 minutes, then reapply the cuff, remain still, and take the measurement again.

Irregular Heartbeat Symbol: Appears when an irregular rhythm is detected 2 or more times during measurement. An irregular heartbeat rhythm is defined as a rhythm that is 25% less or 25% more than the average rhythm detected while your monitor measures blood pressure. The irregular heartbeat symbol is displayed when the monitor detects arm movement. See chapter 7 for more information. If it continues to appear, we recommend you consult and follow your doctor’s directions.

Low Battery Symbol: Flashes when the batteries are nearly depleted.

Dead Battery Symbol: Appears when the batteries are depleted.

Pulse rate/memory count display: Pulse rate appears after measurement. When pressing the Bluetooth button, the memory count appears for approximately 1.5 seconds before the pulse rate reappears on the display.

2. Preparation

2.1 Installing Batteries

1. Press down on the battery cover hook and pull upwards.
2. Insert 4 “AA” batteries as indicated in the battery compartment.
3. Close the battery cover.

Note: When the symbol flashes on the display, you are advised to replace the batteries. To replace the batteries, turn off the monitor and remove all batteries. Replace with 4 new batteries at the same time. Replacing the batteries will not erase previous readings. The supplied batteries may have a shorter life than new batteries. Disposal of used batteries must be in accordance with local regulations.

2.2 Tips for Blood Pressure Measurement

To help ensure accurate readings, follow these instructions:

• Stress increases blood pressure. Avoid taking measurements when stressed.
• Measurements should be taken in a quiet place.
• It is important to take measurements at the same time every day. It is recommended to take measurements in the morning and evening.
• Remember to record your blood pressure and pulse readings for your doctor. A single measurement does not provide an accurate indication of your true blood pressure. You need to take and record several reading results over a period of time.

2.3 Wearing the Arm Cuff

The following are the steps for wearing the arm cuff for your left arm. When taking a measurement on the right arm, follow the cuff wearing instructions for the right arm described in “To take a measurement on the right arm” located at the end of this subsection.

Note: Blood pressure can differ between the left and right arms, and the measured blood pressure readings may differ. OMRON recommends always using the same arm for measurement. If the readings between the two arms differ substantially, ask your doctor to determine which arm to use for measurement.

To take a measurement on the right arm: When you take a measurement on the right arm, the air tube should be on the inside of your elbow. Be careful not to rest your arm on the air tube.

WARNING:

• Remove any tight or thick clothing from your arm when taking a measurement.

1. Attach the arm cuff to your monitor by inserting the air plug into the air plug hole securely until it clicks.
2. Place your hand through the cuff loop. Pull the cuff up to your left upper arm.

Note: The bottom edge of the arm cuff should be 1 to 2 cm above the inner elbow. The air tube is on the inside of the arm and aligned with the middle finger. Ensure the air tube is positioned on the inside of your arm and tighten it so it does not move around your arm.

2.4 Taking a Measurement

You can use the monitor without pairing it with a smart electronic device. To pair it with a smart electronic device, refer to subsection 4.1.

Note: To stop a measurement, press the [START/STOP] button once to deflate the arm cuff.

WARNING:

• DO NOT use this monitor concurrently with other medical electrical equipment as it may result in malfunction of the devices and/or cause inaccurate readings.
• Remain still and DO NOT TALK during measurement.

1. Press the [START/STOP] button. All symbols appear on the display before measurement starts.
2. Remain still and do not talk until the entire measurement process is complete. The heart symbol flashes along with the pulse rate.

Note: Symbol appears if the cuff is worn correctly. Conversely, the cuff is not worn correctly. Press the [START/STOP] button to turn off the monitor, then wear the cuff correctly.

1. Press the [START/STOP] button to turn off the monitor.

Note: After your blood pressure and pulse rate are detected, the cuff automatically deflates. Your blood pressure and pulse rate are displayed. If the systolic or diastolic reading is high (see section 1.3), the Hypertension Symbol appears.

Note: The monitor will automatically turn off after 2 minutes. Wait 2 to 3 minutes to take another measurement. The waiting time allows the artery to reduce pressure and return to its pre-measurement state. You may need to increase the waiting time according to individual physiological characteristics.

If your systolic pressure is over 210 mmHg:

Note: Do not inflate above 299 mmHg.

WARNING: Inflating to an excessive pressure may cause bruising on the arm where the cuff is placed.

To take a measurement, you must relax and sit comfortably in a room with a comfortable temperature. Place your hand on a table.

• Sit in a comfortable chair with your back and arm supported.
• Keep your feet flat on the floor and uncrossed.
• The arm cuff should be worn on your arm at heart level, with your arm resting comfortably on a table.

Note: If your systolic pressure is over 210 mmHg, take the measurement manually. After the arm cuff starts inflating, press and hold the [START/STOP] button until the monitor inflates 30 to 40 mmHg higher than the actual systolic pressure.

Note: If “Err” appears, follow the instructions in the “OMRON connect” application. Be aware that OMRON will not be responsible for any loss of data and/or information in the application. “OMRON connect” is the only application we recommend using with your monitor to correctly transfer data.

3. Using Your Monitor Without a Smart Electronic Device

Note: If your systolic or diastolic reading is high (see section 1.3), the Hypertension Symbol appears.

Note: If “Err” appears, follow the instructions in the “OMRON connect” application. Be aware that OMRON will not be responsible for any loss of data and/or information in the application. “OMRON connect” is the only application we recommend using with your monitor to correctly transfer data.

4. Using Your Monitor With a Smart Electronic Device

4.1 Pairing Your Monitor With a Smart Electronic Device

1. Turn on Bluetooth on your smart electronic device.
2. Download and install the “OMRON connect” application on your smart electronic device. If you already have the “OMRON connect” application and have created an account, open the application and add your new monitor.
3. Open the application and follow the pairing instructions displayed on your smart electronic device.
4. Confirm that your monitor is successfully connected. When your monitor is successfully connected with your smart electronic device, the OK Symbol will appear.
5. Press the [START/STOP] button to turn off your monitor.

4.2 Taking a Measurement

Refer to subsection 3.1 to start a measurement. Open the application on your smart device and follow its instructions.

Note: Ensure that your monitor is within 5 m of your smart electronic device.

4.3 Enabling/Disabling Bluetooth

Disable Bluetooth on your monitor in areas that prohibit the use of wireless equipment. In airplanes • In hospitals • Overseas Bluetooth is enabled by default.

1. When the monitor is off, press and hold the Bluetooth button for more than 10 seconds. “oFF” flashes 3 times.
2. Press the [START/STOP] button to turn off the monitor.

Note: To enable Bluetooth, press and hold the Bluetooth button for more than 3 seconds. “on” appears on the display. The monitor will automatically turn off 10 seconds after completion. When Bluetooth is disabled, the Bluetooth Symbol appears.

Automatic Data Transfer:

When Bluetooth is enabled, readings will be transferred to your smart electronic device after taking a measurement.

5. Using the Memory Function

5.1 Viewing Stored Readings

Your monitor automatically stores up to 14 readings. Press the Bluetooth button repeatedly to scroll through the previously stored readings in memory.

1. Press the Bluetooth button. The memory count appears for 1.5 seconds before the pulse rate is displayed. The latest reading stored in memory will be numbered 1.
2. After the memory count appears, the latest reading will appear with previous readings.

Note: If readings are high (see subsection 1.3), the Hypertension Symbol appears. If there are no readings stored in memory, the display on the right will be shown. If the memory is full, new readings will replace old readings, starting with the oldest reading.

6. Other Settings

6.1 Restoring Your Monitor to Default Settings

To erase all stored information on your monitor, follow the instructions below. Ensure your monitor is turned off.

1. Press the Bluetooth button.
2. While holding down the Bluetooth button, press and hold the [START/STOP] button for more than 4 seconds. The display flashes as shown on the right.
3. While holding down the Bluetooth button, press and hold the [START/STOP] button for more than 4 seconds. The display stops flashing. Your monitor is restored to default settings.
4. Press the [START/STOP] button to turn off your monitor.

Note: Restoring to default settings does not erase information in the application. The monitor will automatically turn off 10 seconds after completion.

To protect your monitor from damage, follow the instructions below:

CAUTION:

• DO NOT disassemble or attempt to repair this monitor or any other components as it may cause inaccurate readings.
• If your monitor and other components get wet.
• In locations exposed to extreme temperatures, extreme humidity, direct sunlight, dust, or corrosive vapors such as bleach.
• In locations subject to vibration or shock.

8.2 Storage

1. Remove the cuff from the monitor.
2. Gently fold the air tube into the arm cuff.

Note: Do not excessively bend or kink the air tube.

Store your monitor and other components in a clean and safe location.

8.3 Cleaning

Do not use abrasive or volatile cleaners.

Use a dry soft cloth or a soft cloth slightly dampened with mild (neutral) detergent to clean the monitor and arm cuff. Wipe with a dry cloth.

Do not wash or immerse the monitor and arm cuff or any other components in water.

Do not use gasoline, thinners, or similar solvents to clean the monitor and arm cuff or any other components.

8.4 Calibration and Service

The accuracy of the blood pressure monitor has been carefully tested and designed for a long service life. It is generally recommended that the unit be checked every two years to ensure proper function and accuracy. Please consult your authorized OMRON dealer or OMRON Customer Service at the address provided on the packaging or enclosed information.
