Introduction
The HMI Basic 2 HY is a basic control panel designed for operating VTS air handling units (AHUs) equipped with the uPC3 controller.
Panel Functions
- AHU starting and stopping
- Operating mode selection
- Ability to view and change parameters for individual operating modes (temperature, humidity, CO2 level, supply and exhaust fan speeds)
- Reading of leading, outside, and room temperatures (includes a built-in room temperature sensor)
- Setting AHU operation according to a schedule
- Alarm handling (viewing and clearing alarms)
Activating the Panel in AHU Controller Settings
The panel is designed for AHUs with a uPC3 controller running software version 1.0.019 or higher. To enable its support:
- From the HMI Advanced interface (physical or virtual), navigate to the service menu.
- On screen 101, change the last digit of the application code to 7.
- On screen J03, set the appropriate Modbus address for HMI Basic (default is 16) and activate it by selecting YES.

Keyboard and Display
Keyboard Functions
- SET: Change operating mode; enter settings menu; return to previous menu.
- [Confirm/Enter]: Confirm selection; proceed to next parameter; return to general settings menu.
- [Up/Down Arrows]: Switch between displayed temperatures; return to home screen; turn off screen.
- [Arrow Buttons]: Change parameter values.
Display Items
The display shows various information including current operating mode, temperature settings, leading temperature, external temperature, room temperature, date, clock, day of the week, heating/cooling status, and alarms. It also shows air quality, humidity, humidifying/drying status, schedules, setting numbers, temperature units, and fan speed levels.
Fan Speed Indication (Item 22): The visual indication of fan speed is based on the current control of the supply fans and is represented by icons:
- Icon 1: 0% fan speed
- Icon 2: 0% < fan speed ≤ 60%
- Icon 3: 60% < fan speed < 80%
- Icon 4: 80% ≤ fan speed ≤ 100%
Operating the Panel
No Communication: If communication with the controller is lost, the HMI Basic 2 HY will only display the current room temperature.
Turning On/Off: To turn off the screen, press and hold the [Up/Down Arrows] button. To turn on, briefly press the same button. Turning off the HMI panel does not turn off the AHU; select the 'Off' operating mode for that.
Display Backlight: The backlight turns off automatically after a user-defined period of inactivity. It reactivates upon pressing any key. Once activated, further operations can be performed.
Selecting Operating Mode: On the main screen, use the [Up/Down Arrows] button to cycle through and select operating modes (Off, StandBy, Eco, Opti, Comfort, Auto).
Previewing Parameters: To view set parameters for the current mode (set temperature, humidity, CO2 level, supply fan speed (S), exhaust fan speed (E)), press the [Up/Down Arrows] button on the main screen.
Changing Parameters: On the main screen, press and hold the [Set Button], then use the [Up/Down Arrows] to select the desired mode (StandBy, Eco, Opti, Comfort), and confirm with the [Confirm/Enter] button. You can then set parameters like temperature, humidity, and CO2 level.
Parameter Access: Access to specific settings depends on the AHU configuration and its components.
Navigation: Changes are made using the [Up/Down Arrows] and confirmed with the [Confirm/Enter] button. The screen returns to the main menu automatically after a period of inactivity or when the [Up/Down Arrows] button is pressed.
Changing Displayed Temperature: The HMI Basic 2 HY can display one of three temperatures on the main screen: Main (used for AHU regulation), External (Ext), or Room (Room). Cycle through these by pressing the [Up/Down Arrows] button.
Setting the AHU Work Schedule
The HMI Basic 2 HY allows setting and modifying the AHU work schedule. Changes made on the panel are reflected in HMI Advanced and visualization systems.
To access scheduling:
- On the main screen, press and hold the [Set Button].
- Use the [Up/Down Arrows] to select the 'Auto' submenu and confirm with the [Confirm/Enter] button.
- Use the [Up/Down Arrows] to select the desired schedule type (Timer, P, S) and confirm with the [Confirm/Enter] button.
Schedule Types:
- Timer (Daily Schedule): Program up to 4 mode changes per day, for each day of the week. Select day, activation (On/Off), time, and mode. Up to 4 actions can be set per day.
- P (Periodic Schedule): Select up to 3 periods per year for specific operating modes. This schedule has higher priority than the daily schedule. Select activation (On/Off), start date, end date, and mode. Up to 3 periods can be set.
- S (Special Schedule): Select up to 6 special days per year for specific operating modes. This schedule has higher priority than daily and periodic schedules. Select activation (On/Off), date, and mode. Up to 6 special days can be set.
- T (Unused): This option is not used.
Navigation for Schedules: Use the [Up/Down Arrows] to change values and the [Confirm/Enter] button to confirm. Press the [Set Button] to return to the previous menu. The main screen is accessed automatically after inactivity or by pressing the [Up/Down Arrows] button.
Alarm Handling
The HMI Basic 2 HY allows viewing and clearing active alarms. When an alarm is present, a bell symbol (?) appears on the screen, and the alarm number is displayed instead of the current time.
To clear an alarm, first remove the cause of the alarm, then press and hold the [Set Button].
Setting Clock and Calendar
To set the uPC3 controller's clock and calendar:
- On the main screen, press and hold the [Set Button].
- Confirm entry into the 'Set Day' submenu with the [Confirm/Enter] button.
- Sequentially set the current time, day of the week, month, day, and year.
Use the [Up/Down Arrows] to change values and the [Confirm/Enter] button to confirm. The main screen is accessed automatically after inactivity or by pressing the [Up/Down Arrows] button.
Programming Mode
When the display is off (by holding the [Up/Down Arrows] button), press and hold the [Set Button] to enter programming mode for advanced parameter changes.
Use the [Up/Down Arrows] buttons to switch between parameters and the [Confirm/Enter] button to set their values. Exit the menu automatically after inactivity or by pressing the [Up/Down Arrows] button.
