Installation Clearances and Guidelines
Hob Clearances:
- Induction hob: Minimum 50 mm clearance.
- Gas hob: Minimum 50 mm clearance.
- Gas hob with stone/glass wall panel: Minimum 80 mm clearance.
- FÖRDELAKTIG appliance: Minimum 80 mm clearance (requires a full depth worktop of 635 mm).
Joint and Edge Clearances:
- Tap hole placement: +/- 35 mm tolerance.
- Separation between worktop and wall: Minimum 3 mm.
- Worktop joint separation: Minimum 32 mm.
- Minimum distance between cut-out and joint: 32 mm.
- Minimum distance from edges to cabinets or walls: 100 mm.
- Maximum distance between supports: 800 mm.
- Minimum distance for hob placement over cabinets: 50 mm.
- Minimum distance for grooves: 300 mm to 400 mm.
- Minimum distance from edge to cabinet side: 63 mm (implied by 635mm total depth and 30mm cut-out).
Worktop Protection and Support:
- Always use a cutting board while cutting to protect the worktop.
- To protect the worktop from heat, place a roaster against the heat source when cutting.
- Feet must support 125 kg.
- A minimum distance of 60 mm is required between supports.
- For worktops not supported by cabinets or legs, a FIXA support (part number 702-746-28) may be needed.
Cabinet and Railing Information:
- If a hob is placed over two cabinets, cut-outs must be made in the cabinet sides. A 30 mm deep cut-out is required between two metal bars.
- A METOD rail against the wall is used to install cabinets, achieving maximum depth. Spacers should be used between the wall and rail if walls are not level.
- Standard depth cabinets plus wall rail and overhang doors equal 635 mm.
- A wall panel of 12 mm thickness is shown.
- For some sinks/hobs, a full depth of 635 mm is required.
Overhang:
- Maximum overhang without support for quartz/porcelain/recycled glass: 300 mm.
General Installation Notes:
- The kitchen must be level and aligned before placing the worktop. An electric laser tool is recommended for checking alignment.
When to Add FIXA Support? (702-746-28)
This section outlines scenarios where FIXA supports are necessary to ensure worktop stability and proper installation.
Scenario 1: Appliance Between Cabinets
When a dishwasher, washing machine, or drying machine is installed between two cabinets, a FIXA support must be installed behind the appliance.
Scenario 2: Open Space Continuation
Any open space where a worktop continues without a cabinet must be supported by a FIXA support.
Scenario 3: Appliance Next to High Cabinet
When a dishwasher, washing machine, or drying machine is positioned next to a high cabinet, install one FIXA support against the high cabinet and another against the wall.
Scenario 4: Appliance at End with Side Panel
If a dishwasher is at the end of a unit with a side panel, four FIXA supports are needed: one behind the dishwasher, one for the side panel connected to the worktop, one for the side panel connecting to the wall, and one to connect with the floor (drilled or glued). A better solution is to avoid ending with a dishwasher and instead use a small cabinet at the end.
Scenario 5: Appliance Next to Lost Corner
When a dishwasher is next to a lost corner, the optimal solution is to place a cabinet of 40 cm or 60 cm in the perpendicular direction. The filler piece can be easily fixed to the back, supporting the worktop. With a 40 cm cabinet, one FIXA support can be added against the wall to cover the open space.
Scenario 6: Empty or Lost Corner
For an empty or lost corner, an empty cabinet is required underneath to support the worktop. This can be an undeep cabinet. The side of the cabinet must support the worktop joint. Any remaining open space can be finished with a FIXA support.
Scenario 7: Waterfall Solution
An open space with a Waterfall solution (maximum 60 cm width) against a wall requires a minimum of three FIXA supports: one under the worktop in the open space, one glued into the joint by the installer, and one attached vertically at the leg and wall. A fourth FIXA support can be placed on the wall (screwed or glued).
Scenario 8: Dishwasher with Extra Side Panel
In cases involving a dishwasher and an extra side panel between the leg and the dishwasher, the FIXA support will be mounted on this side panel.
Scenario 9: Independent Stove with Wall Panel
If there is an independent stove and a wall panel finishing in stone/porcelain with a joint, extra support might be necessary. This will be specified during the measurement process.
Scenario 10: Two Appliances Together
When two appliances are placed next to each other, a FIXA support is needed behind each appliance. Additionally, a side panel between the two appliances is required to support the worktop. This side panel must be fixed securely to the wall, worktop, and floor on both sides; FIXA can be used for this. A better solution is to place a small cabinet between the two appliances.
Conditions for Pre-Visit Measurement
To ensure a smooth pre-visit measurement process, the following conditions must be met:
SERVICE | PRECONDITION | MUST (IF NOT= SERVICE STOP) | PRESENT | Checkbox customer |
---|---|---|---|---|
PRE-VISIT MEASUREMENT | On the day and time scheduled, the client or someone appointed by him, with decision-making power, must be present at the job site. | X | ||
All kitchen furniture (cabinets) must be installed completely according to the IKEA kitchen plan. They must be 100% levelled from one side to another with a laser tool and attached to the walls. | X | |||
The kitchen doors and drawers, and door handles are installed and aligned with the final adjustments. | X | |||
The METOD Aluminum rail (602-056-64) or other spacers are used when full depth (635mm) is required for certain sinks/hobs. | X | |||
All side panels (side, back, etc.) for worktops are installed before the measurement takes place. For top cabinets, installation might occur after the wall panel, depending on received directions. | X | |||
Hob, sink, and watertrap with technical drawing are available at the job site. | X | |||
Any extra goods (e.g., kitchen accessories like soap dispenser, power sockets, UTBY feet for tables) are also in place with technical drawings. | X | |||
Room/worktop surface must be clean (empty worktop) to enable measurements. | X | |||
All outlets and switches must be installed in their correct places. | X | |||
Sufficient space must be available between sockets and end walls/worktops/cabinets; check minimum distances. | X | |||
Temporary worktops can be installed but not fixed. The sink, hob, and tap can be installed and connected. Cut-outs must be installed exactly according to the plan. All items must be easily disconnected for measurements, not glued. | X | |||
Some hobs have different installation methods depending on worktop thickness. Installation for stone/ceramic requires following 18mm guidelines, even if the temporary worktop is 28mm. | X | |||
If a hob is placed over more than one cabinet, the cabinets underneath must be cut out. Hobs are thicker than 20mm worktops, requiring a 25mm/30mm cut-out in the cabinet sides before measurement. | X | |||
If the measurement cannot proceed due to missing or incomplete conditions, an additional measurement will be required and charged. This charge applies even if the customer decides not to proceed with the order after the measurement. | X |
Conditions for Installations
To ensure a successful installation, the following conditions must be met:
SERVICE | PRECONDITION | MUST (IF NOT= SERVICE STOP) | PRESENT | Checkbox customer |
---|---|---|---|---|
INSTALLATION | All the MUST conditions established for the measurements must also be assured. | X | ||
On the day and time scheduled, the client or someone appointed by him must be present to give access to the job site and sign the final report. | X | |||
Suitable and accessible electricity and water points must be available at the job site. | X | |||
Access for delivery of the worktops at the job site must be ensured (e.g., lift access, parking arrangements, etc., if necessary). | X | |||
GENERAL | If the customer is absent on the day and time previously booked, the installation team will wait 15 minutes on site. After this, the service will be considered a failure and subject to rescheduling. | X |
