Function
By converting sunlight into electricity, the solar panel charges the battery during the day and the inset sensor turns on the light automatically at dusk. The volume of solar energy converted and stored everyday decides night lighting hours. It varies with the intensity of sunlight, user's geography location, weather condition and the season. As the sunlight intensity decreases in winter, the light runtime reduces respectively.
Parts Contained
- 1. Solar panel
- 2. Ground tube
- 3. Plastic ground spike
Installation Instructions
Select a spot for the solar light where it can receive full sunlight (shade prevents the battery from being fully charged, thus reduces the lighting time). The garden lights cannot be placed near other light sources, such as streetlights, corridor-lights. The light from these sources may automatically keep the solar light off.
Installation Steps
- Fix the plastic ground spike into the ground until it's firmly in place. If the ground is hard, soak the area with water to soften it (hammer cannot be used, it will destroy the plastic parts). Ensure the solar panel is pointed towards sunlight (Ref part 1).
- Install the ground tube on the plastic ground spike (Ref part 2).
- Remove the solar panel with LED Light from the light head (Ref part 3).
- Move the switch to "ON" position (Ref part 4 & 5) and fix the solar panel with LED Light on the light head.
- Fix the Light head on the ground tube. Make sure it is firmly installed.
Installation Diagram
The installation diagram shows the components and their assembly. Part 1 is the plastic ground spike. Part 2 is the ground tube that fits onto the spike. Part 3 is the light head, which includes the solar panel and LED light, and is detached for installation. Part 4 indicates the solar panel with the integrated LED light. Part 5 shows the ON/OFF button located on the solar panel unit.
Trouble Shooting
If your solar light does not turn on automatically at dusk, check the followings:
- Make sure the switch is on the "ON" position.
- Make sure the battery is fully charged:
- A) Check the location and position of the solar light so that the solar panel receives maximum direct sunlight.
- B) In cloudy or rainy days, the battery cannot get sufficient power supply in daytime. It needs to be fully charged in a sunny day to ensure proper illumination at night.
- Keep away from other light sources: If the solar light is placed near other lights, such as streetlights, corridor-lights etc., the inset sensor automatically acts to keep the solar light off. In this case, you may either turn off the adjacent lights or move the solar light away from them.
- Having done the above, check the solar light itself at night or in a dark room. If the lamp gives light but doesn't last long, this suggests insufficient power storage. Please double check this in sunshine days, if still not good working, it means, the battery has reached the end of its life; replacement with a new battery is suggested.
Note: Always keep the solar panel clean and free from dust, snow etc.
