Preparation
Before You Begin
Unbox your Doorbell Camera. Check for the 'Secured by TELUS, recording in progress' sticker. Ensure your existing doorbell is functional and there is a good Wi-Fi signal at the doorbell location.
Turn Off Power
Locate your home's circuit breaker and turn off the power to your existing doorbell circuit.
Test Doorbell Chime
Press your existing doorbell button. If the indoor chime does not ring, there might be a power issue. Consult TELUS support before proceeding.
Chime Wiring
Determine if you have a digital or mechanical chime. You will need to connect the provided chime adapter or wire harness to your chime terminals.
Digital Chime Wiring
Remove the cover of your digital chime. Loosen the screws on the chime terminals labeled "Transformer" and "Front". Connect the digital wire harness wire labeled "12" to the loose wire removed from the "Transformer" terminal. Connect the digital wire harness wire labeled "Front" to the chime terminal labeled "Front".
Mechanical Chime Wiring
Remove the cover of your mechanical chime. Loosen the screws on the chime terminals labeled "Transformer" and "Front". Connect the mechanical wire harness wire labeled "Trans" to the chime terminal labeled "Transformer" by inserting the spade connector under the screw and tightening it. Connect the mechanical wire harness wire labeled "Front" to the chime terminal labeled "Front" by inserting the spade connector under the screw and tightening it.
Remove Old Doorbell
Remove the existing doorbell from the wall. Check if there are two wires attached. If there are no wires, you may need to call an electrician. Disconnect the wires from the old doorbell.
Optional: Camera Wedge
If needed, the optional camera wedge kit can be used to provide a better viewing angle or if the doorbell wires are too short.
Installation
Pull Wires Through
Feed the existing doorbell wires through the large central hole in the mounting bracket or the optional wedge. Bend the wires to prevent them from falling back into the wall.
Mark Screw Placement
Hold the mounting bracket (or wedge) against the wall where the doorbell will be installed. Use a pencil to mark the screw placement. Ensure the bracket is straight and level. If possible, align it with existing screw holes.
Attach Mounting Bracket
Secure the mounting bracket to the wall using the provided screws and wall anchors if necessary.
Connect Power Wires
Loosen the two terminal screws on the mounting bracket. Wrap the doorbell wires around the terminal screws. It does not matter which wire connects to which terminal. Tighten the screws to secure the wires.
Attach Doorbell Camera
Align the Doorbell Camera with the mounting bracket, pressing the bottom face of the camera against the bracket until it is flush. Ensure it is seated into the grooves of the mounting bracket. If you need to remove the camera from the baseplate later, use the provided pin.
Final Steps
Turn On Breaker
Restore power by turning on the circuit breaker for the doorbell circuit.
Wait for LED Light
The Doorbell Camera LED will indicate its status:
- LED solid, red: Ready to pair
- LED blinking, red: Connection error
- LED solid, green: Setup in progress
- LED solid, purple: Update in progress
- LED solid, white: Working normally
- LED chase 5x around circle: Chime button pushed (doorbell ring light only)
