TELUS Smart Hub Installation Guide
Overview
This guide provides instructions for installing your TELUS Smart Hub Indoor Unit.
What's in the box?
- Smart Hub Indoor Unit
- Ethernet Cable
- Power Supply
Before You Start
You'll need:
- Nano-SIM Card
- Smartphone or Tablet
- Laptop or Desktop (Optional)
Step 1: Select a Location
For Optimal Network Connection:
- Choose a central location close to a window.
- A strong signal is indicated by 2 or 3 solid LEDs.
- Avoid placing the Smart Hub closer than 2 metres to devices like microwaves, cordless phones, or Bluetooth wireless devices.
- Basements may have a weak signal (1 or 0 solid LEDs).
Step 2: Insert Nano-SIM Card
IMPORTANT: The device must be powered off before installing or removing the nano-SIM card. SIM card must be activated on a compatible rate plan.
The Nano-SIM card slot is located on the device. Ensure you are using a Nano-SIM, not a Micro-SIM or Standard/Mini-SIM.
Step 3: Connect Power
Connect the power supply to the Smart Hub.
Step 4: Connect Your Devices
Select a Network:
- Network Name (SSID): TELUSXXXXXX
- Use Password: Wi-Fi Password XXXXXXXXXXX
Once connected, test your Internet connection by searching for a website.
Alternative: Wired Connection
You'll need:
- Smart Hub
- Ethernet Cable
- Laptop or Desktop
Connect the Ethernet cable from the Smart Hub's LAN Port to your Laptop or Desktop.
Step 5: Configure Your Smart Hub
Visit http://telus.smarthub to log in to the Smart Hub Web User Interface.
From here, you can change the Wi-Fi SSID Name, password, and other settings.
You can also manage data usage, parental controls, and access advanced settings.

LED Reference Guide:
| LED | State | Description |
|---|---|---|
| SIGNAL | Off | There is no signal or nano-SIM card inserted. |
| SIGNAL | Solid | The signal strength is shown by 3 LEDs. The stronger the signal, the more LEDs are illuminated. 2 or 3 solid LED lights indicate a good signal. |
| NETWORK | Off | Booting Up |
| NETWORK | Solid | The device is powered but not registered to the mobile network. |
| NETWORK | Solid (5G) | The device is registered or connected to the 5G mobile network. |
| NETWORK | Solid (3G/4G) | The device is registered or connected to the 3G/4G mobile network. |
| WIFI | Off | WLAN (Wi-Fi) is off. |
| WIFI | Solid | WLAN (Wi-Fi) is working normally. |
| POWER | Off | The device is not connected to a power source. |
| POWER | Solid | The device is powered on. |
Troubleshooting
Factory Reset: If you have issues connecting, power cycle the Smart Hub (unplug and plug back in). If issues persist, reset the device to factory defaults by pressing the reset button for 3 seconds.
Can't access the Internet?
- Wait 1-2 minutes after connecting to power.
- Check your network indicators.
- Check your Wi-Fi configuration settings.
Slow download/upload speeds?
- Speed depends on signal strength. Move your Smart Hub to a location with 2 or more signal LEDs.
Can't access the Smart Hub Web Interface?
- Enter the correct URL (refer to the label on the base of the Smart Hub).
- Use only one network adapter in your PC.
- Do not use any proxy server.
Can't connect your devices?
- Ensure Wi-Fi is active.
- Refresh the network list and select the correct SSID.
- Type the correct Wi-Fi password.
