1 Initial Setup

  1. Remove the original support legs.

    ? If it is necessary to move the generator on an uneven surface, it is recommended to remove the two original support legs near the muffler. Skip this step if not required.

    Place a wooden block or rubber pad under the generator that is the same height as the support legs to prevent the generator from tilting backward when the support legs are removed.

2.2 Operation Panel

  • 1. Engine Switch: Used to start or stop the generator.
  • 2. USB-C Port: Connect the remote controller for firmware updates and log export.
  • 3. AC Outlet: This outlet meets IP44 protection rating. Ensure the outlet cover is reinstalled and tightened when not in use.
  • 4. Grounding Terminal: Use a grounding cable and connect one end to the grounding terminal and the other end to the ground. Proper grounding can help prevent electric shock in case of device malfunction.

* AC power ratings vary by country and region. Refer to official support or authorized dealers for more information. The AC power frequency can be configured to either 50 Hz or 60 Hz in the application. To ensure safe operation of your electrical device and prevent potential damage, select the appropriate frequency according to the electrical device's frequency requirements.

2.3 LED Status

1. Charging Channel LED Status

  • Solid Yellow: Battery connected and ready to charge.
  • Flashing Green: Charging.
  • Solid Green: Fully charged.
  • Flashing Yellow: Warning for battery/charging channel.
  • Flashing Red: Error for battery/charging channel.

2. AC Module LED Status

  • Solid Yellow: AC module ready for use.
  • Flashing Green: AC module in use.
  • Flashing Yellow: Warning for AC module.
  • Flashing Red: Error for AC module.

3. Generator LED Status

  • Flashing Yellow (four times): Generator not activated.
  • Flashing Yellow: Warning for generator.
  • Flashing Red: Generator error.
  • Flashing Red (four times): Generator maintenance required.

• If any status LED flashes indicating a warning or error, or prompts for maintenance, connect the remote controller to the product to check details.

• If any product part is abnormal or damaged, it is recommended to contact official support or an authorized dealer for repair or replacement.

3 Getting Started

3.1 Filling Engine Oil

The engine is not filled with oil before leaving the factory. Add SJ 10W-40 engine oil (or equivalent) before use.

Place the generator on a flat and stable surface, unscrew the dipstick, fill the engine oil to the rated capacity, and reinstall the dipstick.

3.2 Refueling

  • DO NOT start the generator before filling engine oil or petrol. Otherwise, the electronic fuel pump may be damaged.
  • DO NOT overfill with fuel. Spillage may cause fire or explosion.

Fuel is highly flammable and explosive. Follow the usage instructions carefully. Before refueling the generator, turn off the generator and wait until the generator's temperature is completely cool.

  1. Loosen the fuel tank cap and refuel the tank with the recommended fuel type up to the rated capacity according to the oil level gauge.
  2. Tighten the fuel tank cap after refueling. Use a dry towel to wipe off any spilled fuel.

* The recommended fuel type is unleaded fuel with a minimum octane rating of RON 91 and an ethanol content of less than 10% by volume. If using the generator in Brazil, the recommended fuel type is unleaded fuel with a minimum octane rating of RON 91 and an ethanol content of 27% by volume.

4 Pre-Operation Checks

Check the generator's condition before each operation. Ensure the generator is placed in a stable location and the engine switch is in the OFF position.

4.1 Routine Checks

  • Check for any engine oil or fuel spills around or under the generator.
  • Keep flammable materials away from the surroundings, especially around the muffler and fan cover.
  • Repair or replace any parts that are rusted, cracked, damaged, defective, or loose.
  • Check if the muffler silencer guard and fan cover are securely installed and if all nuts, bolts, and screws are tightened.

4.2 Important Checks

  • Check fuel level: Refuel the tank before operation to reduce the possibility of interrupted operation due to low fuel level.
  • Check engine oil level: Operating at a low engine oil level will cause damage to the engine. When the engine oil level drops below the safety level, the built-in engine oil sensor will stop the engine function. Check the engine oil level before each operation to avoid difficulties caused by unexpected failures.
  • Check the foam filter element of the air filter: The dirty foam filter element reduces the amount of air entering the electronic fuel injection unit, which in turn reduces the generator's performance.

5 Using the Generator

5.1 Activation and Firmware Update

The product must be activated before first use. After connecting the remote controller to the product, launch the DJI Agras application on the remote controller and tap Device Management > Device Charging to activate the product. Follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware when new firmware is available.

5.2 Starting the Generator

  • If the generator fails to start, connect it to the remote controller to view more information.
  • If any electrical device is connected to the AC outlet during battery charging, the charging capacity for the battery will be reduced accordingly, and the charging time will be extended.
  1. DO NOT connect to any electrical device before starting the generator.
  2. Ensure the engine has been filled with engine oil and the fuel tank is filled with fuel of no less than 1L.
  3. Connect the charging cable to the powered-off Smart Flight Battery. Press the power button, then press and hold the same button again to turn on the remote controller.
  4. Move the engine switch to the START position and hold it for at least 3 seconds before releasing. The engine switch will return to the ON position, and the generator will start automatically.
  5. The generator will start charging the battery.

5.3 Stopping the Generator

  1. Turn off all connected electrical devices.
  2. Move the engine switch to the OFF position, and the generator will stop running.
  3. Disconnect all connected electrical devices.

5.4 Using Smart Flight Battery as External Power Source

  • No need to turn on the generator.
  1. Connect the generator's charging cable to the Smart Flight Battery. Press the power button, then press and hold the same button again to turn on the remote controller.
  2. Press the generator's engine switch to the START position three times consecutively, after which the generator's AC outlet will supply AC power.
  3. Connect electrical devices to the generator's AC outlet.

6 Storage

Follow the steps below for storage if the generator will not be used for more than 30 days.

  1. Before storing, run the generator for five to ten minutes for warm-up. Then, turn off the generator to drain the engine oil.
  2. Remove the engine oil drain hose, unscrew the cap by turning it counterclockwise, and drain all the engine oil.
    • DO NOT touch the hot engine oil to avoid burns.
  3. Reinstall the engine oil drain hose and turn the cap clockwise to tighten it.
  4. Remove the fuel drain bolt at the bottom of the fuel tank, drain the fuel using a funnel, and store the fuel in a dedicated container to prevent gum formation. Reinstall the fuel drain bolt after the fuel has been completely drained. Clean the funnel and wipe it with a dry cloth before storing.
  5. Remove the screw supporting the high-pressure oil pipe. Disconnect the pipe and drain the fuel inside. Reinstall the pipe in place.
  6. Store the generator in a cool, dry, and clean place.

7 Transport

To avoid burns or fire from flammable materials, if the generator is in use, wait at least 15 minutes for the generator to cool down before moving it into a transport vehicle. Ensure the generator is stable during transport to prevent spills.

8 Maintenance

Scan the QR code on the fuel tank to watch a tutorial video or refer to the labels and stickers on the generator for maintenance instructions. Inspect and maintain the generator regularly to ensure it is in good condition.

8.2 Maintenance Schedule

Follow the maintenance schedule below. The frequency of maintenance should be increased if the generator is used in dusty or other harsh environments.

• H means operating hours.

• The maintenance interval of every 300 operating hours/1 year means the user needs to perform maintenance based on the scenario that occurs first.

• After every 300 operating hours, the user needs to contact official support or an authorized dealer to inspect and clean the fuel injector filter and drain the fuel in the high-pressure oil pipe and fuel pump. Retighten the cylinder head bolt to a torque of 55-60 N·m.

8.3 Checking Engine Oil Level

Engine oil consumption increases if the generator is used in high-temperature environments. Fill the engine oil to the rated level before each use and shorten the engine oil replacement interval.

  1. Stop the generator and place it on a flat surface. If the generator has just been operated, wait at least 15 minutes for it to cool down.
  2. Unscrew the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth.
  3. Insert the dipstick as shown without tightening it. Remove the dipstick and check the oil level. DO NOT invert the dipstick.
  4. Add the recommended engine oil type up to the MAX level if the oil level is near or below the MIN level.
  5. Reinstall and tighten the dipstick.

• Damage to the generator caused by the following reasons is not covered by the warranty: operating with low engine oil; failure to replace engine oil according to the maintenance schedule; using non-recommended engine oil.

8.4 Replacing Engine Oil

  1. Place the generator on a flat surface. Run the generator to warm up the engine for a few minutes and then stop the generator.
  2. Place a container under the engine oil drain hose.
  3. Remove the engine oil drain hose and turn the cap counterclockwise to open. Wait until the oil is completely drained.
  4. Reinstall and tighten the engine oil drain hose. Turn the cap clockwise to tighten it.

5. Remove the dipstick and use the engine oil funnel to add engine oil up to the MAX level. Reinstall and tighten the dipstick.

• Contact official support or an authorized dealer to replace the engine oil.

• Engine oil significantly affects engine performance and is a major factor determining engine service life. It is recommended to use oil suitable for four-stroke car engines that meets or exceeds the SJ standard according to API classification. Typically, the API grade is displayed on the engine oil bottle packaging. Ensure it states SJ or a higher grade. The recommended engine oil type is SJ 10W-40.

• To prevent environmental damage, it is recommended to store used engine oil in a container and transport the container to a specialized recycling center. DO NOT dispose of used engine oil with regular household waste, on the ground, or into storm drains.

8.5 Checking and Cleaning Air Filter Element

  1. Remove the air filter cover and take out the foam filter element. Clean the foam filter element thoroughly with a cleaning agent or warm water and dry it in the sun. Clean the dust inside the filter housing and use a carburetor cleaning agent to clean any engine oil on the cover and wipe the filter housing dry.
  2. Check if the paper filter element surface is stained with engine oil. If the paper filter element is stained with engine oil, contact DJI official dealer or DJI Support to replace the paper filter element. If the paper filter element does not need replacement, tap the filter gently on the ground to remove any dust and debris. Clean the dust inside the filter housing and use a carburetor cleaning agent to clean any engine oil on the cover and wipe the filter housing dry.

3. Install the paper filter element and foam filter element into the air filter and reinstall the cover in place.

  • Replace the foam filter element if it is damaged during cleaning.
  • DO NOT use an air blower or compressed air to clean the paper filter element as this may cause damage to the pores of the element's air intake.
  • Ensure all air filter parts and the cover are reinstalled in place.

8.6 Cleaning Spark Plug Arrester

  1. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws and protective cover. Remove the spark plug arrester.
  2. Inspect the spark plug arrester. Wash it with a carburetor cleaning agent and remove any carbon deposits with a wire brush. Replace the arrester if it is damaged.
  3. Install the cleaned or new spark plug arrester and tighten the screws.

8.7 Checking, Cleaning, and Replacing Spark Plug

  1. Stop the generator and ensure it has cooled down completely.
  2. Unscrew the spark plug using a dedicated spark plug socket and inspect the spark plug. Replace the spark plug immediately if the insulator or sealing gasket is damaged.
  3. Clean off carbon deposits or other layers with a stiff wire brush.
  4. Adjust the electrode to ensure the gap is within the standard range of 0.6 to 0.8 mm.
  5. When reinstalling the spark plug, thread the spark plug into the engine by hand, making two to three turns.
  6. Continue tightening with the dedicated spark plug socket.

0.6mm-0.8mm

  • Contact official support or an authorized dealer for spark plug maintenance.
  • The recommended torque is 20-25 N·m. A loose spark plug will cause the engine to overheat, while an over-tightened spark plug will damage the threads in the engine.
  • The original spark plug model is F6RTC. Installing the wrong type of spark plug will damage the engine.
  • To ensure proper engine operation, make sure the spark plug gap is correct and there are no deposits.
