Radio Control Layout
The following describes the controls on the portable radio:
- 1 Channel Selector Knob: Selects channels.
- 2 On/Off/Volume Control Knob: Turns the radio on/off and adjusts volume.
- 3 LED Indicator: Provides visual status of radio operations.
- 4 Programmable Side Button 1: Customizable function button.
- 5 Push-to-Talk (PTT) Button: Transmits audio.
- 6 Programmable Side Button 2: Customizable function button.
- 7 Programmable Side Button 3: Customizable function button.
- 8 Programmable Front Button P1: Customizable function button.
- 9 Menu/OK Button: Navigates menus and confirms selections.
- 10 4-Way Navigation Button: Navigates menus and options.
- 11 Keypad: For manual input (on Full Keypad models).
- 12 Back/Home Button: Returns to the previous screen or home screen.
- 13 Programmable Front Button P2: Customizable function button.
- 14 Display: Shows information, menus, and status icons.
- 15 Microphone: Captures audio for transmission.
- 16 Speaker: Outputs audio.
- 17 Universal Connector for Accessories: For connecting external accessories.

Basic Operations
Attaching the Battery
Notice: For optimal performance, charge a new battery for 14 to 16 hours before initial use.
- Align the battery with the rails on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery upwards until the latch snaps into place.
- Lock the battery latch.
Attaching the Antenna
- Turn off the radio.
- Set the antenna in the receptacle and turn clockwise until snug.
Turning the Radio On and Off
Rotate the On/Off/Volume Control Knob clockwise or counterclockwise until a click sound is heard.
Adjusting the Volume
Rotate the On/Off/Volume Control Knob clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the speaker volume.
LED Indicators
The LED indicator provides status information:
- Blinking Red: Radio failed self-test, out of range (if Auto-Range Transponder System is configured), Mute mode enabled, receiving an emergency transmission, transmitting in low battery state, or battery mismatch.
- Solid Green: Radio is powering up, transmitting, or sending a Call Alert or emergency transmission.
- Blinking Green: Radio is receiving a call or data, detecting activity, or retrieving Over-the-Air Programming transmissions.
- Double Blinking Green: Radio is receiving a privacy-enabled call or data.
- Solid Yellow: Radio is monitoring a conventional channel.
- Blinking Yellow: Radio is scanning for activity, has not responded to a Call Alert, or Capacity Plus-Multi-Site channels are busy.
- Double Blinking Yellow: Auto Roaming enabled, has not responded to a Group Call Alert, actively searching for a new site, not connected to the repeater (Capacity Plus), locked, or Capacity Plus channels are busy.
