Diagrams and Visuals
Assembly Overview (Page 2 Diagram
This diagram illustrates the tow bar assembly and its mounting points on the Ford Focus chassis. Key components and connection points are indicated with labels such as (A) for chassis mounting holes and (-e) for exterior mounting pieces. The tow bar itself is shown with arms designed to connect to the vehicle's frame.
Clearance and Load Specifications (Page 8 Diagrams)
Diagrams detail critical clearance angles and dimensions for the tow bar installation, adhering to guideline 94/20/EG (Appendix VII, illustration 30). These include maximum angles (e.g., 30°, 45°) and minimum/maximum distances (e.g., min. 140mm, max. 100mm). Another diagram shows maximum radii (e.g., max. R14.5, max. R40) and dimensions related to the vehicle's load capacity.
The text accompanying these diagrams, present in multiple languages, states: "For permissible total weight of the vehicle" or similar phrases indicating the importance of vehicle load limits.
Installation Instructions
- Remove the rear bumper, detach the exhaust from its rubber fittings, and loosen/remove the heat shield.
- Permanently remove the metal buffer beam at the rear of the vehicle.
- Position the tow bar with its carrying arms into the chassis openings, aligning points (A) with the provided holes on the chassis sides. Place the mounting pieces (-e) on the outside of the chassis. Insert bolts and tighten securely.
- Before refitting the bumper, create a cut-away in the bottom centre of the bumper. This cut-away should measure 20mm from the lower edge and be 50mm wide. Refit the bumper, reattach the heat shield, and reconnect the exhaust to its rubber hangers.
- Assemble (*) components and tighten everything firmly.
