Installation Procedures
Preliminary Steps
Disconnect the negative battery cable. ?
Antenna Location
The factory antenna is located in the rear window.
Radio Removal and In-Dash Installation
Note: The factory stereo provision is for a Double DIN radio. For a DIN unit, the Scosche kit GM1583/GM1580 is recommended.
- Carefully use a panel removal tool and pry dash bezel off.
- Extract (3) 9/32 screws securing radio, disconnect, and remove.
Front Door Speaker Removal and Installation
Note: The factory speaker provision is for a 5 ¼” speaker mounted to the factory speaker adapter. Also a 1 ¼” Tweeter.
- Remove screw cover cap in interior door opener cup, and extract (1) Philips screw; remove bezel.
- Extract (1) T27 Torx screw from behind door handle.
- Extract (2) Philips screws from bottom of door panel.
- Pry out window control panel and extract (1) T27 Torx screw from behind.
- Use panel removal tool and unsnap panel fasteners all the way around the panel, pull upwards, disconnect, and remove door panel.
- Extract (4) 9/32 screws securing speaker, disconnect, and remove speaker.
Rear Deck Speaker Removal and Installation
Note: The factory speaker provision is for a 6 x 9" speaker mounted to the rear deck. When installing an aftermarket 5 ¼” or 6 ½” speaker, a speaker adapter is required. The Scosche SA69 speaker adapter is recommended.
- Remove bottom seat cushion by pulling seat releases on the front bottom part of cushion.
- Extract (2) 10 mm bolts holding rear seat back cushion and remove.
- Pull away door molding and pry off top C pillar panel using a panel removal tool and remove.
- Carefully pull rear deck out then up, and remove.
- Extract (4) 9/32" screws from speaker, disconnect, and remove.
