Hilti HCW 37x45 M12 Anchor System Installation Guide
Brand: HILTI
Product: HCW 37x45 M12 Anchor System
Step 1: Prepare the Base Material
Ensure the hole depth (h1) is a minimum of 70mm. The required hole diameter is between 36-37mm.
Diagram Description: A cross-section of concrete shows a rectangular cutout representing the hole. Dimensions are labeled: 'h1' indicating depth, and '36-37mm' indicating diameter.
Step 2: Insert the HCW Sleeve
Insert the HCW sleeve (HCW SW) into the prepared hole. Use the SIW 22T-A 1/2" tool for insertion.
Diagram Description: The concrete hole from Step 1 is shown. A tool (SIW 22T-A 1/2") is depicted engaging with the HCW sleeve, pushing it into the hole. Red arrows indicate the direction of insertion.
Step 3: Verify Sleeve Placement
Visually inspect the sleeve for proper seating ?️. Ensure the internal threads are clean and undamaged ✔️. Avoid incorrect insertion angles ?.
Diagram Description: The sleeve is shown seated in the concrete. Two magnified views highlight the internal threads. One shows clean, correctly formed threads with a checkmark ✔️. The other shows damaged or misaligned threads with a prohibition symbol ?. An eye icon ?️ indicates visual inspection.
Step 4: Install Hanger Bolt and Nuts
The total thickness of the material being attached (t2) must be between 40mm and 55mm. Install the Hanger Bolt HSW 12x220/60 8.8 (compatible with HST3 M12, HAS-U M12 8.8). Ensure correct nut and washer placement.
Diagram Description: A hanger bolt is shown installed through a layer of material and into the anchor sleeve in the concrete. A magnified inset shows the bolt, nuts, and washers. The dimension 't2' indicates the material thickness. A red dashed line represents the required embedment depth. Two configurations are shown: one with incorrect nut/washer placement (indicated by ?) and one with correct placement (indicated by ✔️).
Step 5: Multiple Attachments and Safety
When installing multiple anchor points, ensure proper spacing and alignment. Observe the required embedment depths for HCW L and HCW components. Be aware of potential pinching or crushing hazards ⚠️. Follow the indicated direction of assembly ⬇️.
Diagram Description: Two anchor bolts are shown installed. One diagram illustrates the use of HCW L and HCW components. A yellow warning triangle with a hand icon ⚠️ signifies a pinch hazard. A red arrow ⬇️ indicates the direction of assembly or insertion.
Step 6: Final Check and Alignment
Perform a final visual inspection ?️. Ensure the hanger bolt is installed perpendicular to the surface (90°). Incorrect angles are not permitted ?.
Diagram Description: The fully installed anchor bolt is shown. A magnified view shows the bolt head and nut assembly. A 90° symbol is displayed to emphasize correct alignment. An incorrect angled installation is shown with a prohibition symbol ?.
