Getting Started with IKEA Home Smart

Think of a complete setup or start with a few pieces. To get the full smart home experience, choose our connected ecosystem for all occasions and senses, or you can start on a smaller scale and choose to control individual products within your home.

The Ecosystem

Choose the TRÅDFRI gateway and the IKEA Home smart app to create a connected ecosystem that allows you to control lights, sound, and other products in your home. The TRÅDFRI gateway and IKEA Home smart are the most important tools for creating a smart ecosystem in your home. Using them, you can easily and quickly create an ecosystem of smart functions and control them as you like. Based on these, you can start with as many connected products as you wish and add up to 50 units to the gateway when you are ready to expand the system.

Individual Products

If you prefer a setup with individual products that are not connected and not online, you can choose the TRÅDFRI remote control and smart light sources. With the remote control, you can turn up to 10 light sources on/off, adjust brightness, and change color, all having the same function.

IKEA Home Smart Products Use Zigbee 3.0

The products in IKEA Home smart use Zigbee 3.0 software, suitable for wireless control that is efficient, reliable, and easy to install. The products also support so-called mesh networks, which means they share the signal among themselves and improve connection stability throughout the home.

What the Symbols Mean

All our IKEA Home smart products are wireless. These symbols will help you understand how they work.

• Wireless: Indicates wireless functionality.
• Wireless Dimming Capability: These light sources can be wirelessly adjusted.
• Warm White: These light sources emit a warm white light that corresponds to the color of a traditional incandescent bulb.
• Warm Glow: These light sources provide a warm and decorative light.
• Full Spectrum White: These light sources can be adjusted to change from warm to cool white light in just three steps.
• Full Spectrum White and Color: These light sources can be adjusted to change color and from warm to cool white light.
• IKEA Home smart App: Download the IKEA Home Smart app from Google Play or the App store to connect IKEA smart lighting/blind products to the TRÅDFRI gateway. Works with Android (KitKat 4.4 or later) or iOS 9 and later.
• Works with IKEA Home smart: These products can be used with the IKEA Home smart app and the TRÅDFRI gateway.

Voice Control Compatibility: The TRÅDFRI gateway and the IKEA Home smart app can enable voice commands for IKEA Home smart products via Apple HomeKit or Google Home.

Zigbee: Zigbee is the protocol used for IKEA Home smart products.

Note: Products in the IKEA Smart Lighting range are not dimmable by wired dimmers or when used in fixtures with built-in dimmers.

Smart Blinds

With the remote control or the IKEA Home smart app, you can control each blind individually or group multiple blinds. But when you add the TRÅDFRI gateway to your home WiFi network and download the IKEA Home smart app, the magic begins: the gateway communicates with the connected smart blinds. With the app, you can program when the blinds rise/fall, simply with a touch on your mobile screen.

Electric FYRTUR Blackout Blinds

Using the included remote control, you can adjust your blinds from the comfort of your bed. The full blackout fabric blocks light, ideal for bedrooms. Available in various sizes from 60 cm to 140 cm.

Electric KADRILJ Blinds

Using the included remote control, you can adjust your blinds without getting up from your desk. The sheer fabric reduces light reflections on your screen. Available in various sizes from 60 cm to 140 cm.

Setup and Control

The blinds come with a rechargeable battery, so they don't need to be connected to the main power supply. They can be used with the included remote control or with the IKEA Home smart app (available for installation on iOS or Android) via the TRÅDFRI gateway (sold separately). More blinds can operate with one remote control (after pairing) or via the IKEA Home smart app. If the battery runs out and you need to lower the blind, you can carefully lower it manually.

The Zigbee signal repeater is essential for the blind's operation (otherwise it won't work). It facilitates signal communication between the blind and the remote control. It is essential for the wireless function to work correctly.

The package includes 1 remote control, 1 rechargeable battery, 1 battery charger, and 1 signal repeater.

Each blind is already paired. To pair additional blinds, hold the remote control close to the blind's battery cover while simultaneously pressing and holding the small button on the remote control (next to the battery inside the remote control). Press and hold for 10 seconds.

The remote control can control the blinds from up to 10 meters away. By using the TRÅDFRI gateway and the IKEA Home smart app, you can control your blinds from anywhere, provided you have an internet connection.
