How to Install Programmer

System Requirements: Runs on PC or Mac running Windows 7/11.

Important Note: Requires a USB 2 Port. The programmer will not work with USB 3. If your PC only has USB3 ports, use a USB patch block as most are USB 2.

Included with the Programmer download file are instructions for setting up the programmer on your Windows 7/11 PC. Follow these instructions carefully.

How to Use Programmer

System Requirements: Runs on PC running Windows 7/10. Requires a USB 2 Port.

Putting Handset into Programming Mode:

Turn off the handset. Attach the programming cable between the device's Hirose port and the PC. Press and hold the red handset ON/OFF button while holding PTT. The handset's LED will light red.

Putting Gateway into Programming Mode:

Turn off the gateway. Hold down the gateway ON/OFF button while attaching the programming cable to the device's micro-USB port and the PC USB port. The Gateway's LED will light red.

Note: The gateway's RJ45 socket should not be connected to the host radio.

Important: Always READ the device before proceeding further.

It is recommended to SAVE the configuration file to your PC for re-loading if required.

A GREYED-out feature indicates that your device does not support that capability.

The Programmer automatically identifies the device type.

Handset Programming: Basic Functions

Elite Plus Only Options:

Handset Button Descriptions:

Top 1, Top 2: Buttons located on the top of the handset.

Microphone: Integrated microphone.

PTT: Push-to-Talk button.

Left 1, Left 2: Buttons located on the left side of the handset.

Status light: Indicator light on the handset.

Right 1: Button located on the right side of the handset.

Charging Contacts: For connecting to charger/gateway.

Hirose audio jack: Connector for external audio accessories.

3.5mm earpiece audio jack: Standard audio output jack.

Handset Programming: Audio Levels

It is recommended to use the XGALA Gateway Audio Level Adjustment software tool for setting audio levels between the host radio and the X10DR gateway. Download it at www.x10dr.com/supports.

These adjustments cater to different audio accessories and user applications for optimal audio sensitivity:

Handset Programming: Emergency

For Press & Hold Emergency:

For Short/Long Press Emergency:

Handset Programming: Hardware

Hirose Pin 2 Function: Configures Hirose pin 2 for powering external accessories (~3.3VDC) or as a bridged output speaker audio (speaker negative). Default: Speaker -VE.

Acc PTT: Determines if the Hirose PTT input generates Talkaround or Radio PTT. Default: Radio PTT.

PTT: Sets the function of the main PTT button. Options include Radio PTT, Emergency. Default: Radio PTT.

Top 1: Sets the function of the top left button. Options include Emergency, Talkaround PTT. Default: Emergency.

Top 2: Sets the function of the top right button. Options include Talkaround PTT, Emergency. Default: Talkaround PTT.

Left 1: Sets the function of the top left button. Default: Short press Volume up / long press Relay mode OFF/ON (Elite Plus only).

Left 2: Sets the function of the bottom left button. Default: Short press: Volume down.

Right 1: Sets the function of the right side button. Re-assigning requires hardware modifications. Default: Short press: Search / long press: Power OFF/ON.

Long Press Duration: Sets the time a button must be pressed to activate a Long Press function. Default: 5000mSec (Elite) / 2000mSec (Pro).

Gateway Parameters

Models: Pro Plus, Elite Plus, XRTG Elite Plus, XIVG Gateway.

XRTG Elite Plus: Externally mounted. Function Button and LED are internally enclosed. Use button and LED as standard or XIVG function button.

XIVG Gateway: Elite Plus and Pro Plus models available.

Pairing a XRTG or XIVG Gateway:

Use the Auto pairing method: Power up the gateway with its host radio turned OFF. For the next 30 seconds, the gateway is in pairing mode. Powering on the radio may abort the process.

Elite Plus Series Only Options:

Gateway Programming: Hardware

I/O Settings:

Defines whether a gateway interface pin is assigned as an input or an output.

The programmer interface displays tables for I/O assignments, including Radio PTT, Radio Emergency, Radio COR, and various Function pins, with options for Active (Low/High), Function (e.g., Radio PTT, Emergency, Disabled, Handset in Cradle), and Pulse duration.

Pro Plus Default Settings: Handset - Gateway

The programmer interface provides default settings for Pro Plus models across various categories, including User Experience, Audio Levels, Emergency, and Hardware configurations.
