Aeotec Motion Sensor User Guide

The Aeotec Motion Sensor is designed to detect motion and temperature. It connects to an Aeotec Smart Home Hub, utilizing Aeotec Zigbee technology. For optimal performance, it must be used in conjunction with an Aeotec Smart Home Hub.

Familiarize yourself with Aeotec Motion Sensor
A visual representation of the Aeotec Motion Sensor shows a small, white, circular device with a textured surface and a central lens for motion detection.

Important safety information
- Read, keep, and follow these instructions. Heed all warnings.
- Clean only with a dry cloth.
- Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
- Only use attachments and accessories specified by the Manufacturer.
Connect the Aeotec Motion Sensor

Steps in SmartThings Connect
- From the Home screen, tap the [plus icon] and select Device.
- Select Aeotec and then Motion Sensor (IM6001-MTP).
- Tap Start.
- Choose a Hub for the device.
- Choose a Room for the device and tap Next.
- While the Hub searches:
- Pull the "Remove when Connecting" tab found in the sensor.
- Scan the code on the back of the device.
Using Aeotec Motion Sensor
Once connected, the Aeotec Motion Sensor becomes part of your Aeotec Smart Home Hub network. It will appear as a motion widget in the SmartThings Connect app, displaying motion status or temperature sensor readings.
Steps in SmartThings Connect
- Open SmartThings Connect.
- Scroll down to your Aeotec Motion Sensor.
- Tap the Aeotec Motion Sensor widget.
- On this screen, it should display:
- Motion
- Temperature
You can use the motion and temperature sensor data in Automations to control your Aeotec Smart Home Hub network. For more information on programming automations, visit: Aeotec Automation Programming.
How to remove Aeotec Motion Sensor from Aeotec Smart Home Hub
If the Aeotec Motion Sensor is not performing as expected, you may need to reset and remove it from your Aeotec Smart Home Hub.
Steps
- From the Home screen, select Menu.
- Select More Options ([three dots icon]).
- Tap Edit.
- Tap Delete to confirm.
Factory reset your Aeotec Motion Sensor
The Aeotec Motion Sensor can be factory reset at any time to resolve issues or to re-pair it with a different hub.

Steps in SmartThings Connect
- Press and hold the recessed connect button for five (5) seconds.
- Release the button when the LED starts blinking red.
- The LED will blink red and green while attempting to connect.
- Use the SmartThings app and follow the steps detailed in the "Connect the Aeotec Motion Sensor" section above.
