Product Overview
The Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor is designed to detect the open/close status of doors and windows, as well as temperature and vibration. It connects to an Aeotec Smart Home Hub and operates using Aeotec Zigbee technology. A compatible ZigBee Gateway, such as the Aeotec Smart Home Hub, is required for its functionality.

Important Safety Information

Connecting the Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor

Steps in SmartThings Connect:
- From the Home screen, tap the Plus [+] icon and select Device.
- Select Aeotec and then Multipurpose Sensor (IM6001-MPP).
- Tap Start.
- Choose a Hub for the device.
- Choose a Room for the device and tap Next.
- While the Hub searches:
- Pull the "Remove when Connecting" tab found on the sensor.
- Scan the code on the back of the device.
Using the Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor
Once connected to your Aeotec Smart Home Hub network, the Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor will appear as an Open/Close widget. This widget displays the current open/close status and temperature sensor readings. These readings can be utilized in Automations to control your Aeotec Smart Home Hub home automation network.
Displaying Information in SmartThings Connect:
- Open the SmartThings Connect app.
- Scroll down to your Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor.
- Tap the Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor widget.
- The screen will display:
- Open/Close status
- Temperature readings
How to Remove Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor from Aeotec Smart Home Hub
If the Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor is not performing as expected, it may be necessary to reset the sensor and remove it from the Aeotec Smart Home Hub for a fresh start.
Steps:
- From the Home screen, select Menu.
- Select More Options ([three dots icon]).
- Tap Edit.
- Tap Delete to confirm.
Factory Reset your Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor
The Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor can be factory reset at any time to resolve issues or to re-pair it with a different hub.

Steps in SmartThings Connect:
- Press and hold the recessed connect button for five (5) seconds.
- Release the button when the LED starts blinking red.
- The LED will blink red and green while attempting to connect.
- Use the SmartThings app and follow the steps detailed in "Connect the Aeotec Multipurpose Sensor" above.
