This guide provides essential information for setting up and configuring the ZyXEL NWA90AX Wireless Access Point, including hardware installation, initial setup, and basic troubleshooting.

Hardware Overview

The NWA90AX features several components:

Front Panel: LED indicators for power, system status, and wireless activity.
Rear Panel: Power input port, Ethernet port (for network connection and PoE), Reset button.

Installation

Choose a suitable location for your access point. For optimal coverage, place it in a central location, away from obstructions.

Mounting the Access Point

The NWA90AX can be mounted on a wall or ceiling.

Wall Mounting:

Drill holes in the wall according to the template provided by the mounting bracket.
Insert anchors if necessary.
Secure the mounting bracket to the wall using screws.
Slide the NWA90AX onto the bracket until it clicks into place.

Ceiling Mounting:

Attach the mounting bracket to the ceiling tile using the provided screws.
Slide the NWA90AX onto the bracket until it clicks into place.

Connecting the Hardware

Connect the NWA90AX to your network and power source.

Connecting to a Network

Use the provided Ethernet cable to connect the NWA90AX's Ethernet port to a network switch or router. The NWA90AX supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowing it to receive power through the Ethernet cable if connected to a PoE-enabled switch.

Powering On

If using PoE, the device will power on automatically when connected to a PoE switch. If not using PoE, connect the provided power adapter to the power port on the NWA90AX and plug it into a wall outlet.

Initial Configuration

The NWA90AX can be configured using the Nebula cloud management platform or as a standalone access point.

Standalone Mode Configuration

By default, the NWA90AX operates in standalone mode. You can access its web interface to configure settings.

Connect a computer to the same network as the NWA90AX.
Open a web browser and enter the default IP address: 192.168.1.2.
Log in using the default credentials: Username: admin, Password: 1234.
Follow the on-screen wizard to set up your Wi-Fi network name (SSID), password, and other basic settings.

Note: It is highly recommended to change the default password for security.

Nebula Cloud Management

For centralized management of multiple ZyXEL devices, you can register the NWA90AX to the Nebula cloud platform.

Visit nebula.zyxel.com.
Create or log in to your Nebula account.
Follow the instructions to add your NWA90AX device by entering its MAC address and serial number (found on the device label).

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, try the following:

No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected or the PoE switch is functioning. Check the Power LED.
No Internet Connection: Verify the Ethernet cable is properly connected to the NWA90AX and your router/switch. Check the System LED.
Cannot Access Web Interface: Ensure your computer is on the same subnet as the NWA90AX. Try resetting the device to factory defaults using the reset button.
Resetting to Factory Defaults: With the device powered on, press and hold the reset button for approximately 10-15 seconds until the LEDs change. Release the button, and the device will reboot with factory default settings.
