Recycle
Recycling your device
Return your electronic products, batteries, and packaging materials to dedicated collection points. This prevents uncontrolled waste disposal and supports material recycling. Products with electrical and electronic parts contain many valuable materials, including metals (such as copper, aluminum, iron, and magnesium) and precious metals (such as gold, silver, and palladium). All parts of this device can be recovered as raw materials and energy.
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on the product, battery, datasheet, or packaging is a reminder that you must take electrical and electronic products, as well as batteries, to a separate collection point when they reach the end of their service life. Do not dispose of these products as unsorted household waste: take them for recycling. For information about your nearest recycling point, check with your local waste disposal authority, or read about HMD's take-back programs and availability in your country at www.hmd.com/phones/support/topics/recycle.
About batteries and chargers
About batteries and chargers
To check if your device has a removable, non-removable, or user-replaceable battery, see the printed manual.
Devices with a removable battery: Use only the supplied rechargeable battery. Batteries can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but they will eventually wear out. When the talk and standby times of the battery become noticeably shorter, replace the battery.
Devices with a non-removable battery: Do not attempt to remove the battery from the device, as this may damage the device. Batteries can be charged and discharged hundreds of times, but they will eventually wear out. When the talk and standby times of the battery become noticeably shorter, take the device to an authorized service center to replace the battery.
Devices with a user-replaceable battery: To replace the battery, follow HMD's self-repair instructions or take the device to an authorized service center near you. For more information on self-repair, go to www.hmd.com/self-repair.
Charge your device with a compatible charger. The plug type of the charger may vary. Charging times may vary depending on the capacity of each device.
Battery and charger safety information
When you have finished charging the device, unplug the charger from the device and the wall socket. Note that you should not charge continuously for more than 12 hours. A fully charged battery will discharge over time.
High or low temperatures reduce the capacity and lifespan of the battery. For best performance, keep the battery between 15°C and 25°C (59°F and 77°F). A hot or cold battery may cause the device to malfunction. Note that the battery may discharge quickly in cold temperatures and lose enough power to shut down the device in a few minutes. When outdoors in cold temperatures, keep the device warm.
Follow local regulations. Recycle whenever possible. Do not dispose of with general household waste.
When you are outdoors
Do not expose the battery to extreme cold or heat. Do not dispose of the battery in a fire, as it may explode or leak flammable liquid or gas. Do not disassemble, cut, crush, bend, puncture, or damage the battery in any way. If the battery leaks liquid, do not let your skin or eyes come into contact with the liquid. If contact occurs, rinse the affected area immediately with water or seek medical advice. Do not modify, insert foreign objects into, or immerse the battery in water or other liquids. The battery may explode if damaged.
Use batteries and chargers only for their intended purpose. Improper use or the use of uncertified or incompatible batteries or chargers may result in fire, explosion, or other hazards and may void any certification or warranty. If you believe the battery or charger is damaged, return it to a service center or phone retailer before further use. Do not use a damaged battery or charger. Use the charger indoors only. Do not charge the device during a thunderstorm.
To unplug a charger or accessory, pull the plug itself, not the cable.
Also, if your device has a removable or user-replaceable battery, see the following:
- Switch off the device and unplug the charger before removing the cover or battery.
- If a metal object touches the metal strips on the battery, it may cause a short circuit, which may damage the battery or the object it touches.
Children
Your device, including its accessories, is not a toy. It may contain small parts. Keep them out of reach of children.
Nickel
The surface of this phone is nickel-free.
Medical devices
The operation of devices that transmit or receive radio signals, including mobile phones, may interfere with the functioning of inadequately protected medical devices. Consult your doctor or the manufacturer of the medical device to determine whether it is adequately protected against external radio frequency energy.
Implanted medical devices
To avoid potential interference, manufacturers of implanted medical devices (such as pacemakers, insulin pumps, and nerve stimulators) recommend that wireless devices be kept at least 15.3 cm (6 inches) away from the medical device. Users of such medical devices should:
- Always keep the wireless device more than 15.3 cm (6 inches) away from the medical device.
- Do not carry the wireless device in a breast pocket.
- Use the phone with the ear opposite the medical device.
- Switch off the wireless device if you suspect interference.
- Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the implanted medical device.
If you have any questions about using your wireless device with an implanted medical device, consult your doctor or the manufacturer of the medical device.
Hearing
Warning: Listening at high volumes for extended periods may damage your hearing. Use caution when holding the phone close to your ear while the speaker is on.
Some wireless devices may cause interference with some hearing aids.
Protecting your device from harmful content
Your device may be infected with viruses and other harmful content. Follow these tips:
- Open messages with caution, as they may contain malicious software or software that could harm your device or computer.
- Be cautious when accepting connection requests or browsing the internet. Do not accept Bluetooth® connections from sources you do not trust.
- Install antivirus software and other security software on your computer that connects.
- Be cautious when accessing bookmarks and links to third-party internet websites that are pre-installed. HMD Global does not endorse or take responsibility for such sites.
Vehicles
Radio signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic systems in motor vehicles. For more information, consult the vehicle manufacturer or its accessory supplier. Only authorized technicians should install devices in a vehicle. Improper installation may cause danger and void your warranty. Regularly check that all mobile phone equipment in your vehicle is installed and operating correctly. Do not store or carry flammable or explosive materials with your phone, phone parts, or accessories. Do not place your phone or accessories in the area where an airbag might deploy.
Potentially explosive environments
Switch off your phone in potentially explosive environments, such as near a petrol station. Sparks can cause an explosion or fire, resulting in injury or death. Follow all prohibitions in areas with fuel, chemical factories, or areas where flammable materials are used. Areas with potentially explosive atmospheres are often, but not always, clearly marked. Such areas include areas where you are advised to shut off your vehicle engine, below deck on boats, chemical transfer or storage facilities, and areas where the air contains flammable gases or particles. Check with the manufacturer of vehicles using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) (such as propane or butane).
Regulatory information
SAR information
Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed to not exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves (radio frequency electromagnetic fields) recommended by independent international scientific organizations (ICNIRP). These recommendations include a substantial margin of safety designed to ensure the protection of all persons, regardless of age and health. The radio wave exposure guidelines are based on Specific Absorption Rate (SAR), which is a measure of the amount of radio frequency (RF) energy absorbed by the head or body when the device transmits. The ICNIRP has set a SAR limit for mobile devices of 2.0 W/kg averaged over 10 grams of tissue. This SAR limit includes a significant safety margin designed to ensure the protection of all persons, regardless of age and health.
SAR tests are carried out in standard operating positions with the device transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands.
This device model complies with radio wave exposure guidelines when used against the head normally or when worn or operated at a distance of at least 5/8 inch (1.5 cm) from the body. This applies to carrying cases, belt clips, or similar accessories. These accessories should not contain any metallic components and should be positioned at least as far from the body as specified above.
You need an efficient network connection to send data or messages. Sending may occur after the connection is made. Follow the distance instructions until the sending is complete.
In normal use, the SAR value is usually much lower than the values mentioned above. This is because the device automatically reduces its output power when full power is not needed for the call. The lower the output power, the lower the SAR value.
These values may vary depending on the phone model and may include more than one value. Over time, components and designs may change, and some changes may affect SAR values.
Go to www.sar-tick.com for more information. Please note that mobile devices may transmit signals even when you are not making a call.
The World Health Organization (WHO) states that current scientific evidence has not identified any special precautions for the use of mobile devices. If you want to reduce your exposure, WHO recommends that you limit your usage or use a hands-free device to keep the device away from your head and body. For more information, explanations, and discussions on RF exposure, go to the WHO website at www.who.int/health-topics/electromagnetic-fields#tab=tab_1.
See www.hmd.com/sar for the highest SAR values for the device.
