Do not overcharge the battery: Once your device's charging is complete, first disconnect the charger from the device and then from the power outlet.

Do not overuse the battery: Ensure that the battery is not discharged below 20% and do not use it until it is completely discharged and the device switches off.

When the battery is completely discharged, it may take a few minutes for the charging indicator to appear on the display.

Tip: If no power outlet is available, you can charge the device via USB. The efficiency of charging via USB varies considerably. Accordingly, it may take longer until sufficient charging capacity is available to start and use the device.

Charger model

For EU countries: Use your device only with an original BL-25AA battery. Charge your device with the HAC-18 charger. The charger's plug type may vary. HMD Global may offer other battery or charger models for this device.

For environmental reasons, no charger is included in this package. This device can be operated with most USB power adapters and a cable with a USB Type-C connector. Use only chargers and cables that comply with applicable country regulations and international and regional safety standards to avoid property damage and injury. The power supplied by the charger must be between at least 2 watts, which the radio requires, and a maximum of 5 watts to achieve maximum charging speed.

Your device supports the USB-C cable. You can also charge your device with a USB cable from a computer, but this may take longer.

For other countries: Charge your device with the HAD-005 charger. HMD Global may offer other battery or charger models for this device. The charging time may vary depending on the device's performance. Accessories mentioned in this user manual, such as chargers, headsets, or data cables, may need to be purchased separately.

If the charger is not included, charge your device with the data cable (included) and a USB power adapter (possibly sold separately). You can charge your device with cables and power adapters from third-party providers that comply with USB 2.0 or higher and applicable country regulations and international and regional safety standards. Other power adapters may not comply with applicable safety standards, and charging with such adapters may cause property damage or injury. We recommend using a power adapter with an input of 100-240 V~50/60 Hz 0.1 A and an output of 5 V/1 A to optimize charging your device.

Caring for your device

Handle your device, battery, charger, and accessories with care. The following recommendations will help you maintain the device's operational readiness.

During intensive use, the device may become warm. In most cases, this is normal. The device may automatically throttle down to regulate temperature. Programs may also be closed, charging may be stopped, and the device may be switched off if necessary. If the device is not functioning properly, take it to the nearest authorized customer service.

Recycling

Always hand in used electronic products, batteries, accumulators, and packaging material at designated collection points. This way, you avoid uncontrolled waste disposal and promote the recycling of material resources. Electrical and electronic products contain many valuable materials, including metals (such as copper, aluminum, steel, and magnesium) and precious metals (such as gold, silver, and palladium). All materials in your device can be used to manufacture new materials or generate energy.

Symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin

The symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin, found on the product, battery, in the documentation, or on the packaging material, means that electrical and electronic products and batteries must be taken to separate waste collection at the end of their life. Remember to remove all personal data from the device first. Do not dispose of these products with unsorted household waste, but take them for recycling. Information about your nearest recycling facility can be obtained from your local waste disposal company.

Also find out at www.hmd.com/phones/support/topics/recycle about HMD's take-back program and its availability in your country.

Battery and charger information

To check if your device has a removable, non-removable, or user-replaceable battery, read the printed instructions.

Devices with a removable battery

Use your device only with an original battery. The battery can be charged and discharged several hundred times, but it will eventually wear out over time. If the talk and standby times are significantly shorter than normal, replace the battery.

Devices with a non-removable battery

Do not attempt to remove the battery. This could damage the device. The battery can be charged and discharged several hundred times, but it will eventually wear out over time. If the talk and standby times are significantly shorter than normal, take the device to the nearest authorized customer service for battery replacement.

Devices with a user-replaceable battery

To replace the battery, follow HMD's self-repair instructions or take the device to the nearest authorized service facility. For more information on self-repair, see www.hmd.com/self-repair.

Charge your device with a compatible charger. The charger's plug may vary. The charging time may vary depending on the device's performance.

Safety information about battery and charger

Once the device's charging is complete, disconnect the charger from the device and from the power outlet. Please note: The battery should not be charged continuously for more than 12 hours. If not used, a fully charged battery will discharge over time.

Extreme temperatures shorten the battery's capacity and lifespan. Always keep the battery at temperatures between 15 and 25 °C (59 and 77 °F) for optimal performance. A device with a cold or warm battery may temporarily not function. Note that the battery may discharge quickly at cold temperatures, causing the device to switch off after just a few minutes. If you are outdoors in cold temperatures, keep your device warm.

Follow local regulations. Recycle them if possible. Do not dispose of them with household waste.

Do not expose the battery to extremely low air pressure or extremely high temperatures (do not dispose of it by burning). This may cause the battery to explode or leak flammable liquids or gases.

Do not attempt to remove the battery casing, cut, break, bend, puncture, or otherwise destroy the battery. If battery fluid comes out, ensure that the fluid does not come into contact with skin or eyes. If the fluid comes into contact with skin or eyes, rinse the affected areas immediately with water or seek medical attention. Do not attempt to modify the battery, and do not insert objects into the battery. Do not immerse the battery in water or other liquids, or expose it to water or other liquids. Batteries can explode if damaged.

Use the battery and charger only for their intended purpose. Improper use or the use of unapproved or incompatible batteries or chargers may result in fires or explosions and may void the approval or warranty. If you suspect that the battery or charger is damaged, take it to a service center or the phone provider before further use. Do not use damaged batteries or chargers. Do not use the charger outdoors. Do not charge your device during a thunderstorm.

When unplugging the cable from a charger or accessory, hold it by the plug.

Additionally, if your device has a removable or user-replaceable battery:

Small children

Your device and its accessories are not toys. They may contain small parts. Keep them out of the reach of small children.

Nickel

The device surface is nickel-free.

Medical devices

The operation of radio equipment, including telephones, may under certain circumstances interfere with the operation of inadequately shielded medical devices. Consult a doctor or the medical device manufacturer to determine if it is adequately shielded against external high-frequency vibrations.

Implanted medical devices

To avoid possible interference, manufacturers of implanted medical devices (such as pacemakers, insulin pumps, and neurostimulators) recommend a minimum distance of 15.3 centimeters between a wireless device and the medical device. Persons using devices of this type:

If you have questions about using the radio device with an implanted medical device, consult your doctor.

Hearing

Warning: Use of the headset may impair your ability to perceive ambient sounds. Do not use the headset if it may compromise your safety.

Some mobile devices may cause interference with some hearing aids.

Protecting the device from harmful content

Your device may be exposed to viruses or other harmful content. Therefore, take the following precautions:

Vehicles

Radio signals may, under certain circumstances, interfere with the proper functioning of installed or inadequately shielded electronic systems in motor vehicles. For more information, contact the vehicle manufacturer or accessory manufacturer. The device should only be installed in a vehicle by authorized personnel. Improper installation can have dangerous consequences and void the valid warranty or guarantee. Regularly check that the vehicle accessory for your mobile device is properly installed and functions correctly in your vehicle. Do not store flammable or explosive substances in the same compartment as the phone, its components, or accessories, and do not carry them with you. Do not place your device or accessories in the deployment area of an airbag.

Explosive atmospheres

Switch off your phone in potentially explosive atmospheres, such as near gasoline pumps. In such locations, a spark can cause an explosion or fire, resulting in injury or death. Observe the restrictions regarding use at gas stations, in chemical plants, or in blasting areas. Potentially explosive atmospheres are not always clearly marked. These are typically places where you must turn off your vehicle engine, the lower deck of ships, environments with pipelines and tanks containing chemicals, and places where chemicals or particles are present in the air. Inquire with the manufacturer of vehicles powered by liquefied petroleum gas (e.g., propane or butane) whether this phone can be used safely in the vicinity of such vehicles.

Information on certification

This mobile device complies with the guidelines for limiting exposure to electromagnetic fields.

Your mobile device is a radio transceiver. It has been designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to electromagnetic fields (high-frequency electromagnetic fields) recommended by international regulations of the independent ICNIRP Commission. These regulations include essential safety margins intended to ensure the protection of all persons, regardless of age and general health status. The exposure recommendations use a unit of measurement called Specific Absorption Rate or SAR, which refers to the amount of high-frequency energy that affects the head and body when transmitting with the device. The SAR limit of the ICNIRP for mobile devices is 2.0 W/kg as an average value per 10 grams of body tissue.

SAR tests are conducted based on standard operating positions with the device, with the device operated at the highest possible transmission power in all available frequency bands.

This device model complies with the regulations for exposure to high-frequency radiation when used at the head or with a minimum distance of 1.5 centimeters from the body. If a protective cover, belt clip, or other type of device holder is used to position the device on the body, this device should not contain metal and should be at least the above-mentioned distance from the body.

To send data or messages, a good network connection is required. Transmission may be delayed until such a connection is available. Ensure that the instructions regarding distances are followed until the transmission process is complete.

During general use, SAR values are usually well below the values indicated above. This is because your mobile device's operating power is automatically reduced when the full power is not required for the call, to increase system efficiency and minimize network interference. The lower the output power, the lower the SAR value.

Device models may have different versions and more than one value. Over time, components or the design may change, and some changes may affect SAR values.

For more information, see www.sar-tick.com. Note that mobile devices can also transmit when you are not making a voice call.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), current scientific information provides no indication that special precautions are necessary when using mobile devices. If you wish to reduce your exposure, the WHO recommends limiting use or using a hands-free device to keep the mobile device away from your head and body. For more information, explanations, and discussions on RF exposure, see the WHO website at www.who.int/health-topics/electromagnetic-fields#tab=tab_1.

The maximum SAR value for the device can be found at www.hmd.com/sar.
