Thank you for purchasing this instrument from Intellitronix. We value our customers!
Note: The M9014 and M9114 gauges are identical; only the packaging differs. The M9114 includes the sending unit (S8434).
Safety Precaution: Always disconnect the vehicle battery before attempting any electrical work.
Wiring Instructions
Note: Automotive circuit connectors are the preferred method for connecting wires. Soldering is also acceptable.
Oil Pressure Gauge Connections:
- Ground (Black Wire): Connect directly to an engine ground, such as the engine block. For the most accurate readings, connect to the same ground point as the sending unit.
- Power (Red Wire): Connect to a switched +12V source, like the ignition switch. The device requires a steady +12V source to function correctly. Use a multimeter to test the power source for best results.
- Dimmer (Purple Wire): Connect to the parking lights to dim the LEDs by 50% when headlights are activated. Do not connect to the headlight rheostat control wire, as this will prevent the dimming feature from working properly. Alternatively, connect to ground for permanent 100% brightness.
- Pressure (Orange Wire): Connect to the output of the pressure sending unit.
Pressure Sending Unit
Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates the connection between the oil pressure gauge and the sending unit. An orange wire extends from the gauge to the sending unit. The sending unit has threaded connections for mounting to the engine, with a reminder to ensure these threads are clean for proper grounding.
Installation Notes:
- Ensure the connection between the oil pressure sensor and the engine is clean and free of Teflon tape or other sealants on the threads. This is crucial for providing a stable ground for the sensor, which will not function if its ground is inhibited.
- Test all fittings and connections for leaks. If any leaks are detected, identify the cause and repair immediately.
Warning! Do not operate the vehicle if any leaks are detected!
Mounting: The gauge requires a 2-1/16” diameter hole for mounting. Use the supplied brackets and nuts to secure the gauge to the dashboard. The sender unit features a 1/8” NPT male fitting and should be automatically grounded when connected to the engine block.
