UGEARS Timer (20 minutes) Mechanical Model
Assemble Me. Watch Me Tick Away
About the Model
Model <
This is a mechanical model designed for self-assembly without glue. All moving parts can be waxed during assembly to reduce friction when operating the model.
Assembly Instructions
General Assembly Tips:
- Remove model parts from the hanger board as illustrated.
- Be careful not to break parts. If a part does not remove easily, carefully cut it out with a knife.
- If you have difficulty installing the axles, try waxing them with a regular candle.
- All moving parts can also be waxed during assembly to reduce friction when operating the model.
Step-by-step assembly diagrams:
The following diagrams illustrate the assembly process. Follow the numbered steps carefully.
Step 1: Assemble the main gear components.
Step 2: Connect the gears and shafts.
Step 3: Continue assembling the gear train.
Step 4: Insert the wooden axle.
Step 5: Assemble the main frame structure.
Step 6: Continue assembling the frame and internal mechanisms.
Step 7: Assemble the pendulum components.
Step 8: Attach the pendulum to the main structure.
Step 9: Assemble the escapement mechanism.
Step 10: Connect the escapement to the gear train.
Step 11: Assemble the main drive mechanism.
Step 12: Lubricate the roller axle and replace the roller.
Step 13: Assemble the main housing structure.
Step 14: Assemble the side panels and connect them to the housing.
Step 15: Install the pendulum and adjust its amplitude.
Step 16: Connect the drive mechanism to the pendulum.
Step 17: Final assembly of the main structure.
Step 18: Threading the rubber band for the timer mechanism.
Step 19: Adjusting the timer speed using the rubber band tension.
Step 20: Setting the pendulum amplitude using the regulator slot.
Step 21: Troubleshooting common issues.
Step 22: Adjusting the timer speed by tightening or loosening the rubber band.
Step 23: Final check and operation.
Features
- NATURAL: Made from natural materials.
- NO GLUE CONNECTION: Assembled without glue.
- SELF ASSEMBLY: Parts are pre-cut and ready to assemble.
- MECHANICAL: Functional mechanical model.
- EDUCATIONAL: Promotes learning and understanding of mechanics.
Important Notes
- Be careful not to break parts during assembly.
- If a part is difficult to remove, carefully cut the connecting points with a knife.
- Waxing moving parts with a candle can improve smooth operation.
- Do not use a lighted candle for waxing.
Troubleshooting
Issue: Pendulum stops moving.
Solution: Turn the regulator slot toward (-).
Issue: Timer runs and then stops.
Solution: Check all gear faces and roller surfaces for burrs and remove them.
Issue: Timer operates erratically.
Solution: Adjust the tension in the rubber band. Increase tension if the timer stops suddenly, decrease tension if it operates chaotically.
