This document provides step-by-step instructions for assembling the UGEARS Treasure Box, a mechanical model crafted from wood. It is designed for self-assembly without the need for glue, offering a unique mechanical and educational experience.
General Assembly Guidelines
Preparation: Carefully remove all model parts from the hanger boards. If a part is difficult to detach, use a knife to gently cut the connecting tabs. This model is designed for glue-free assembly.
Tips for Smooth Operation: To ensure smooth movement of axles and gears, lightly wax them with a regular candle during assembly. This reduces friction.
Important Notes: Always pay close attention to the diagrams for correct part orientation and positioning. Avoid bending parts forcefully. Never use a lighted candle near the model. ⚠️
Assembly Steps
Step 1: Base Construction
Take part 1 and insert it into part 2. Attach part 3 to part 2.
Place the assembled section onto the main base plate, part A.
Assemble the side frame components: Attach part 8 to part B and part 9 to part B. Then, attach part 10 (x2) to the structure.
Step 2: Main Gear Axle Assembly
Assemble the primary gear axles: Take part 6 and insert part 5 into it. Repeat this process for the second axle.
Connect the central gear mechanism: Attach part 7 to the assembled axles.
Assemble the side walls: Attach part 4 (labeled B) and part C (labeled C) to the base structure, ensuring correct orientation as indicated.
Connect the assembled side walls to the base and the gear mechanism. ✔️
Step 3: Decorative Side Panels
Prepare the decorative side panels: Take part 14 (x2) and attach part 15 to each.
Assemble the curved decorative elements: Attach part 12 (x2) to the base structure. Note the labels DL (left) and DR (right) for correct placement.
Assemble the smaller curved decorative elements: Attach part 13 (x2) to the structure. Note the labels EL (left) and ER (right) for correct placement.
Step 4: Main Box Structure Assembly
Attach the prepared decorative elements to the main body structure. Connect part 17 (labeled DR, ER) and part 17 (labeled DL, EL) to the corresponding sides of the box.
Assemble the main box structure by connecting the sides and base, ensuring all parts fit snugly. ✔️

Step 5: Internal Gear Mechanism Preparation
Prepare the first gear set (F): Take part 21 and attach part 19 and part 20. Repeat this process twice (x2).
Prepare the second gear set (G): Take part 22 and attach part 19 and part 20. Repeat this process twice (x2).
Prepare the third gear set (H): Take part 23 and attach part 19 and part 20. Repeat this process twice (x2).
Step 6: Installing Gear Sets
Install gear sets G and H into the main structure, ensuring they are correctly oriented.
Install gear set F into the main structure. ✔️

Step 7: Further Gear Integration
Continue installing the prepared gear mechanisms (G, F, H) into the main box structure. Ensure all parts align correctly for smooth operation.

Step 8: Internal Mechanism Components
Attach part 26 to the main box structure.
Assemble gear set J: Take part 28 and attach part 29. Then, attach part 30 and part 31.
Assemble gear set K: Take part 33 and attach part 32 and part 34.
Step 9: Finalizing Box Structure and Gears
Install gear set J into the main structure.
Install gear set K into the main structure.
Caution: Do not bend strongly! ⚠️
Step 10: Attaching Outer Panels
Attach part 40 to the main box structure.
Attach part 41 and part 10 to the sides of the box.
Attach part 42 and part 10 to the sides of the box.

Step 11: Securing the Box Top
Insert part 43 into the structure.
Place part 44 on top of the assembled box, securing the structure. ✔️

Step 12: Internal Base Mechanism
Insert part 50 (x5) into the designated slots on the base plate.
Attach part 49 to the base, aligning it with the inserted parts.
Attach part 51 (x2) to the structure.
Place part 52 on top of the assembled mechanism.
Step 13: Adding Internal Components
Insert part 53 (x2) into the base.
Insert part 55 (x2) and part 54 (x2) into the base.
Insert part 57 (x4) and part 56 (x4) into the base.
Step 14: Final Gear Placement
Insert part 58 (x2) and part 59 (x2) into the base.
Attach the circular gear mechanism, part 60, to the assembled base.
Step 15: Installing More Gears
Insert part 61 (x6) into the structure.
Insert part 62 (x8) into the structure.
Step 16: Completing the Top Mechanism
Insert part 63 (x4) into the structure.
Attach part 64 to the assembled mechanism.
Attach part 65 (x4) to the structure.
Step 17: Finalizing the Top Assembly
Attach part 66 to the top assembly.
Attach part 67 to the top assembly.
Insert part 68 (x4) into the mechanism.
Assemble the final gear components: Take part 45 (x4), part 46, and part 47 (x3).
Attach the assembled gear set, part 48. ✔️
Step 18: Attaching the Lid
Attach the lid mechanism to the main box structure.
Insert part L into the mechanism.
Ensure correct alignment and fit of all components.
Step 19: Lid Operation
Attach the lid components, part 69 (x3), to the box.
