Televes Avant X Programmable Head-End Amplifier
Models: 532180, 532181, 532182
User Guide and Technical Specifications
Introduction
The Televes Avant X is a programmable head-end amplifier featuring digital filtering and processing, suitable for both individual and collective installations. It is recognized for its ease of installation, broad input range, low power consumption, high selectivity, and significant gain.
It is equipped with 4 programmable VHF+UHF inputs, supporting up to 32 filters with Automatic Gain Control (AGC). The unit provides automatic/programmable powering that can withstand short-circuits and includes Auto-LTE filtering (specifically for Ref. 532180).
Model 532182 offers the flexibility to configure each input for either analog or digital signals; analog signals do not utilize AGC.
Each of the 32 filters boasts high selectivity, enabling the balancing of adjacent channels. It features individual AGC and can be programmed for filtering any VHF low (channels 2-6), VHF high (channels 7-13), and UHF (channels 14-51) channel. For model 532182, VHF Low channel filtering is exclusively available for digital signals.
Filters can accommodate groups of 1 to 4 adjacent channels. Programmed channels within a filter can be converted to different output channels for both VHF and UHF. Channels are automatically balanced according to the programmed output level and equalization slope. The FM output level is adjusted in sync with the programmed VHF/UHF output level.
The unit includes a CATV input with programmable gain and slope. Model 532182 allows CATV to be selected as the output channeling, with individual filtering applied in this mode.
Programming is achieved easily via the Televes universal programmer, a Windows PC, or an Android Smartphone/Tablet with USB OTG connectivity.
The device is a compact, metallic unit with various input/output connectors, status LEDs, and control buttons.
Configuration and Adjustment
Configuration and adjustment procedures can be performed through several methods:
- PCT Programmer Unit: Select the appropriate parameters for the installation (e.g., channels, output level, equalization slope) and press the
[Program]
button (long press) to save the configuration and initiate the adjustment. If programming is done prior to installation, removing the programmer aborts the process but retains the configuration for later adjustment. - ASuite Application: Select the desired parameters and press the
[Send]
button to transmit the configuration to the unit. Pressing this button will commence the adjustment process. - "READJUST" Button: This button initiates the unit's adjustment process using the configuration previously stored via the programmer or applications.
It is essential that inputs and outputs are properly terminated for accurate unit adjustment. During the adjustment process, the green LED will remain illuminated, while a red LED will light up to indicate a level error.
IMPORTANT WARNING: The Avant X unit is shipped with a 75 Ohm terminator load connected to the TV+CATV output (7). It is crucial to ensure this load remains connected to the TV+CATV output (7) throughout the adjustment process. The Avant X calibrates filter gains by measuring the level detected at the main TV+CATV (7) output, which requires proper termination for accurate readings. Failure to terminate the output correctly can lead to mismatches and unsatisfactory adjustment outcomes.
Connections and Controls
The unit is equipped with various connectors and controls:
- Inputs: Four VHF/UHF + DC inputs (labeled 1-4), one CATV input (labeled 5), one TEST input (-20dB) (labeled 6), and one FM input (88-108 MHz) (labeled 8).
- Outputs: One TV+CATV output (labeled 7) and one FM output (labeled 8).
- Controls & Indicators: An RJ45 connector (labeled 10) for programmer/PC connection, a Micro USB (female) port (labeled 11), a READJUST button (labeled 12), an ADJUST LED (labeled 13), an ERROR LED (labeled 14), a POWER ON LED (labeled 15), and a POWER input (110-230V~) (labeled 16).
- Grounding: A functional earthing terminal (labeled 9).
The unit supports specific configurations for models 532180, 532181, and 532182, detailing input types and frequency ranges.

Application and Installation
The Avant X is designed for integration into diverse signal distribution systems, connecting to antennas (VHF, UHF) and CATV sources.
Programming Methods:
- TABLET / SMARTPHONE / PC: Connect the unit to a PC or Android device using the provided OTG cable [OTG cable included]. Utilize the ASuite application for comprehensive configuration and adjustment. The ASuite application is readily available on the Google Play Store [Get it on Google Play].
- LCD UNIVERSAL PROGRAMMER: Connect the dedicated programmer unit to the Avant X for straightforward configuration.
Important Note on Input Signal Levels: If the adjustment screen displays bars that fall short of the programmed level for specific filters, it signifies that the input RF signal for those channels is below the minimum required threshold (-20 dBmV). Under these conditions, the Avant X cannot guarantee proper signal processing, and channels may be subject to errors.
